I hated that part in the new season of Game of Thrones
I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I came in on my family watching it and saw that scene. That show is brutal as hell.

I am glad we evolved to more humane ways of execution.
The worst method of torture I could imagine is the bamboo wood one.
Thing is, Bamboo grows so fast, that if you put meat above it, the bamboo will eventually pierce it (although quite slowly).
Anyhow, IIRC it was a torture method to suspend a person above bamboo and over-night the bamboo would've pierced the person.

Could be a myth tho, I'm not quite sure.

The MythBusters investigated bamboo torture in a 2008 episode. They found that a bamboo shoot can penetrate through several inches of ballistics gel in three days.
ouch.
Think the worst one is when they take a bucket with a rat in it and puts it on your stomach. And then they take a torch, puts it on the end of the bucket which frightens the rat making it scratch through your stomach.
wasn't that in Fast and Furious 2
There was also this disembowelment execution.
You cut a hole in the victims gut so you can see his intestines, then you grab a part of it and tie it to a wheel with a crank. Then you spin the wheel so his intestines slowly gets pulled out.
It was often done in public.
How could humanity invent something with the sole purpose of causing pain and torment to someone in such a cruel and inhumane way?
Well the point was to create fear as was most torture, making people less likely to rise against the monarchy or commit crime.
My heart goes out for those who have needlessly felt the insane cruelties of these ancient killing-torture mechanisms.
Or one of the most simple and horrible methods of ancient execution.
Flaying.

worst fucking way to go EVER
Or one of the most simple and horrible methods of ancient execution.
I wouldn't call flaying "simple". There's a lot of intricate details you've got to cover, but I don't want to go into details because it's pretty gross.
Like, the skin. You could break that really easily, and then you've got an incomplete skin-suit. Now, I've never wanted to flay someone alive, but I'd imagine that, if I did it, I'd do it to get the skin. And anybody who wants skin is, at some point, gonna consider doing some crazy shit with it. But you can't do anything with two different lengths of skin, and that would probably cause someone to have a temper-tantrum and order the person who did it to also be flayed alive. And if the guy who does that also fucks it up, you've got a whole vicious cycle going because you didn't account for the skin's elasticity.
Being a torture technician is dangerous work, yo.

Jesus fuck, unplug the fence or break the cable going to it.

The basic premise is simple though, take a knife, cut all of the skin off of someone you don't like. Getting into the details of it might make this thread a bit more PG-13 than intended.

Slide your ass a little off to the side?
Vertical sawing would be horrible.
When the victim has been upside down for a while most of the blood is at the upper part of the body. By doing so the victim would die when the saw reached the heart.

They really enjoyed killing other people apparently. Look at that smug face on the right dude. He has a sword so i doubt he's even an executioner.
The body would've been flopping all over the place while sawing. Reaching the hart must've taken pretty long.

I don't think the point was to do it as quickly as possible.
The longer it took the better.
Well
That's enough of this for one day
And week
And year
Goodbye
I'm so effing glad I don't live in the middle ages. And people say were getting more violent in these modern times? Maybe they should look at this shit.

If you fucked with royalty, it's possible that they'd burn that until it's orange hot and rip your dick off with it.
So heres Scaphism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scaphism
Scaphism, also known as the boats,[1] was an ancient Persian method of execution designed to inflict torturous death. The name comes from the Greek word skaphe, meaning "scooped (or hollowed) out".
The intended victim was stripped naked and then firmly fastened within a face-to-face pair of narrow rowing boats (or hollowed-out tree trunks), with the head, hands and feet protruding. The condemned was forced to ingest milk and honey to the point of developing severe bowel movement and diarrhea, and more honey would be rubbed on his body to attract insects to the exposed appendages. He would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or be exposed to the sun. The defenseless individual's feces accumulated within the container, attracting more insects, which would eat and breed within his exposed flesh, which—pursuant to interruption of the blood supply by burrowing insects—became increasingly gangrenous. The feeding would be repeated each day in some cases to prolong the torture, so that dehydration or starvation did not kill him. Death, when it eventually occurred, was probably due to a combination of dehydration, starvation and septic shock. Delirium would typically set in after a few days.
In other recorded versions, the insects did not eat the person; biting and stinging insects such as wasps, which were attracted by honey on the body, acted as the torture.
Death by scaphism was incredibly painful, humiliating and protracted. Plutarch writes in his biography of Artaxerxes that Mithridates, sentenced to die in this manner in 401 BC for boasting about killing Cyrus the Younger, survived 17 days before dying.[2]
