it doesn't work anymore, there's nothing to run it with iirc
shockwave is dead and buried, any site you will find it on it just won't load
Actually you're wrong on that
I managed to find a working version (episode one) on some site called coolasiagames whatever. Adobe still offers links to download shockwave they just don't support director, the application to make shockwave stuff
I played it fine on my Mac, chrome doesn't support shockwave but safari and edge should play it fine
Simpler times.

Johnny Rocketfingers was my jam when I was younger.
The creator did a Kickstarter for episode 3 which failed, so he's shelved the character and moved on, which blows. Honestly I think he could've gotten the money he needed if the Kickstarter got press.
He raised 30k but the goal was 88k.
The fuck did he need 88K for?

I tried about 10 different browsers the other day to try get a shockwave app to work, but none of them worked. Safari seemed to load it but as the app loaded, the whole page refreshed. No idea how to get this working.
I remember playing a ton of Planet Hot Wheels, it was some in browser racing MMO deal. You could build up your car with credits earned from racing and it was the coolest.
I guess it shows my age, but it feels like Flash popularity ended rather abruptly. I kinda miss stuff like the Madness games and HL2: Codename Gordon
I think a lot of it has to do with flash games/animations becoming more proffesional along with more advance software coming out, causing more time, effort, and sometimes money required to make content, and since that's become the norm, anything that looks like it came from the mid-2000s without actually being made then is often forgotten and ignored
newgrounds was one of the best parts of my childhood
me and some friends played all those shitty jumpscare games and thought they were amazing
exmortis being a prime example
special mention for meet n fuck games though, truly a life opening experience
For me, all those Flash porn games actually defined who I am today. Which isn't good. My sister played them because she thought they were hilarious. I started playing them because I thought they were kinda funny too, but alas, it was only a gateway to a much darker side of the World Wide Web. Once I learned what "hentai" was and I could find it on Google, my life has never been the same.

there's that one comic of the mom leaving and the kid instantly going to google
that was me with meet n fuck
the bad grammar, the non-sensical logic
it made me the man I am today
it taught me that shouting "HEY BIG TITS WANNA SUCK MY DICKS" isn't appropriate
but after 2 lines of being nice it's okay to say that

Huh that's weird. I'll try and experiment some ways for you to get shockwave working if you're interested
Played this one a lot when I was young, good shit
The fuck did he need 88K for?
He wanted to do like a legit adventure game and that takes time, I'm assuming the 88k would go towards funding the game and also allowing him to focus all his time on developing it.

Lenny loosejock back in 98-00, some of my very first flash game.
Stick RPG and Heli Attack 2 were a significant part of my childhood.
any love for the old java applet sites like freearcade?
not flash (and so 100% more unplayable than newgrounds), but shit like battle tank, wickywoo and wiz3 were my jam back in 2003 :excited:
This might have been my first online game. One of the few smooth-running free flash games I ever played, stick arena:

There was this really cheezy spot in the office map where you could pick up the sledgehammer weapon which was a OHK, and hide in the bathroom and hit anyone through the walls with it, or something. It was absolutely rage inducing.
Heck of a game.

This was a pretty fun Smash clone, back in the day.
EDIT: I also remember those websites with promotional games like Nabisco World or candystand.com

I also remember playing some 3D Browser game when I was little; it wasn't flash (I think it was Shockwave?), and it had two McDonalds characters (one was a fry and one was a giant "O" I think - they were both original characters). It was one of those interactive apps that had mini games and a hub. Does that possibly ring a bell to anyone? I offhandedly remembered that a while back and I've been trying to see if I could find any archived screenshots or videos of it to see how badly it held up by today's in-browser 3D standards. :v:
Any of you guys remember that shitty lego "mmo" where you try to manage a sort of extreme racing car by buying items and upgrades to bypass obstacles while trying to outpace another race but it was mostly RNG-based because the races were automated?
Seems like there is a non-Maverick scrub here, who didn't get the proper upgrades.
TBH, the game was not really RNG as so much as, trying to find a specific track that you would always come across things that you could easily get through with your car/proper updates, and just win the 5 races a day. I sorta miss the game, but I guess they realized it wasn't really progressing anywhere, so they scrapped it. Still, it was a pretty cool thing way back when, especially since I liked browser games back then.

If it wasn't for flash Neopets wouldn't have been successful. That site was my childhood.

I remember in 6th grade kids were absolutely addicted to Funbrain. While I didn't enjoy the games myself, it did expose me to Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and I love it.
