I think empowering people with a weapon affects humans. The consequences of acting irrationally to slight provocation is very high, due to raised awareness (paranoia perhaps?). I personally do not like the idea of weapons carried by people because I feel it promotes a sense of vigilantism, but then again I live in a country without weapons, so I don't have a very firm opinion on the matter.

I think you should read your own statements slowly before calling someone an idiot. The right to a weapon is definently part of the American culture, but to shoot down questions over its use so idiotically and immediately because it conflicts with some emotional and patriotic sentiment is hardly a solution.

Yea I hate when people make pretty valid arguments about keeping their guns and then add that they also want to keep them because they like to shoot random shit with them for fun.
Makes them look like idiots.
Police are unrealiable, this isn't an insult or fact. Just my opinion.
I think it's better for a person to own a gun and be able to defend themselves than have to risk their own life and others waiting for a police officer.

We have mostly unarmed public in Czech Republic (you have to pass kinda hard and expensive tests to get a hold of semi automatic gun. automatic guns are only possible for people in army or special police forces), and there wasn't even single rampage comparable to these posted in the video in decades, while you have dozens of it. I'd say it's mostly the over all population, neighboring nations (obviously), culture and thought processes that's different.

I think the problem is once there is a firefight going on I don't think the other civilians walking around would know who the good guy is. If you just heard a gunshot and a shitload of other gunshots with people shooting everywhere around the place would you know if you were firing at the man who started the crime or the other guy trying to stop him?

I love how people who think gun restriction is a bad idea neglect to mention that America isn't the "Old West." Even in non gun-free zones, shootings happen; they often are stopped by the police, not Clint Eastwood (or in other words a vigilante).
I'm neither for or against gun control. I do think the lengths to getting a gun should be more strict, but we were still given the right to own them.

Actually they are often not stopped at all. The shooter shoots who he wants to, and either the cops show up before the shooter leaves and arrests/kills him, or the shooter leaves.
