Eh, it feels like you just scrached the surface. There are loads of things to tell, how they try to impress journalists into thinking they are the best, by planing their visits, how the population treats him as god, how most of the technology and general knowledge is stuck in time, etc.
It's a thread though, not a book. Threads usually do just scratch the surface of a subject.
don't fuck this thread up with an endless communism debate
don't fuck this thread up with an endless communism debate
Well it is going too because kids don't know the fucking definition of communism and think they're cool saying "lol that's communism." North Korea is a fucking dictatorship, don't get the two mixed up. Also there is no true communist country, they all lead in to dictatorship or some form of totalitarianism. So please, all of you shut the hell up. As for NK, it is the most saddest country I've ever seen - it could be so much more, hell the government could get more power by opening its gates and allowing people to enter and foreign markets boosting the economy. This is what NK and SK look like at night.. NK literally lives in darkness.
We need the Korean FP'ers in here.

Who the fuck cares what you call it, it's the same god damn thing.
North Korea is communist isn't it? Therefore it does have something to do with North Korea.
No, it isn't. It's a form of extreme Maoism/Stalinism. Communism = Bolshevik Russia (for the people with some totalitarian aspects mixed in slightly, overall a good mix), Maoism/Stalinism = Dictatorship (complete rule over the peoples' lives, everything typically goes or is already gone to shit).
North Korea is a fucking dictatorship, don't get the two mixed up. Also there is no true communist country, they all lead in to dictatorship or some form of totalitarianism. So please, all of you shut the hell up.
Which is exactly my point. Note I never said "Korea is communist" So please, you shut the fuck up.
Communism is dictatorship, if they want to call it communism, let them, stop being so god damn politically correct. Who the fuck cares what you call it, it's the same god damn thing.
No, it isn't.
No, it isn't.
It's a form of, sorry I wasn't being exactly straight.
holy shit...
Also, I at first thought "NK's just rural. It's a nice countryside devoid of the bustle of the bigger cities, etc." Then when I read how urban it is and how poor the people are, and I realize it's not a pleasant countryside, it's a shithole.
Those videos just ... show you how much brainwashing has been going on.
It's a form of, sorry I wasn't being exactly straight.
Communism is Socialism but with Marxist elements. It's a belief of government that puts the people first. Dictatorship means absolute control by one typically cruel figure. It's a belief of government that puts him above the people and lets the people suffer.
argh shutup about the communism
In north korea you get sent to a work camp for sitting on a picture of kim jong il, the 'dear leader'. Now tell me that isn't fucked up.
Which is exactly my point. Note I never said "Korea is communist" So please, you shut the fuck up.
Wasn't talking to you, so you shut the fuck up.
Communism is dictatorship, if they want to call it communism, let them, stop being so god damn politically correct. Who the fuck cares what you call it, it's the same god damn thing.
That makes no sense and I'm not being politically correct. It just if you're going to label a country at least get the fucking label right. Communism isn't a form of dictatorship or totalitarianism, communism is no where close. They just label themselves that way so they don't look as bad. They're still a dictatorship. It is stupid to call it something that it isn't. They're just not the same and saying it is the same thing only insults and diminishes the true idea communism.
Pictures don't load for me
Some things not in the OP. Although the Korean People's Army is nominally the fourth largest in the world, there's no way they could afford to go to war with any large country. Although, as you said, everyone is poor, the state does provide free healthcare, housing, education and food rations. They also don't have to pay taxes because of their planned economy; when the government needs money they just whip some up out of thin air. The only other country in the world with an economy as strictly controlled by the government as this is Cuba.
Wow, North Korea makes China and the Soviet Union look like a FUCKING PARADISE.
Today is Kim Jong's birthday.
Congratulations Great Leader.
Communism sucks dick in general, but North Korea is just fucked up. Nuclear destruction isnt a problem when it's mutually deterred, but all it takes is one pyscho like Kim Jong to fuck the whole world over.
Communism doesn't suck in the theory, but, in nearly all cases it fucked up. Soviet and North Korea are shining exsample of that. It's the leaders that gets corrupted and powersick.
Today is Kim Jong's birthday.
Happy 69th birthday [editline]04:31PM[/editline] great leader

Some of that stuff has to be false.
What a shit-hole.
I am surprised to see this many "wow i didn't know" posts. OP should mention DMZ.
Although, as you said, everyone is poor, the state does provide free healthcare, housing, education and food rations. The only other country in the world with an economy as strictly controlled by the government as this is Cuba.
The main difference between the two being, that the people of Cuba know at least someone what the world looks outside of their borders. Most people in NK believe the rest of the world is a pure hellhole. To be honest similar misinformation happened in other commie|behind the iron curtain nations. Remember mom telling me about someone's report on the US. Everything that was said in the report was actually true, the problem is, most was ommitted. So talks about the homeless, poverty, jobless etc in NY were pretty common. But they never said how the average citizen lives. So most people thought that those homeless were the average citizen. A few super rich, millions without basic needs met. NK just took this a step further.
Communism is dictatorship, if they want to call it communism, let them, stop being so god damn politically correct. Who the fuck cares what you call it, it's the same god damn thing.
True communism doesn't have a leader or a government. It's pretty hard to have a dictatorship without a leader.
