I think a lot of the backlash against her now, ie "she's trying to hard", is because a lot of these guys thought she was 'real' back then. Now that they are forced to face the fact it was all an act, like everyone else on Youtube(lonelygirl and so on), they are deserting her like rats leaving a sinking ship.
She was forcing it back then, if you didn't see that you were one of the ones who thought it was real.
I mean I used to think she was kind of hot. But now that I am older I realize just how fucking annoying she really is.
