To the Council of the Terran Protectorate Confederation.
We humbly request that you cease the attempted annexation of Hispania and more specifically Lusitania, as these lands are the Basileia's by de jure right, and hand them over to Basileia Rhomaion immediately. Failure to adhere to this request will lead to a blockade of the Mediterranean and the Bay of Biscay. In addition our ally the DSB seeks to make a claim on Florida. We request you turn this protectorate state over to them. Failure to comply will lead to a blockade along the Atlantic coast of North America, the tip of South America, and the Panama Canal, forcing you to travel along the Indian and Pacific oceans to reach the Americas instead. We will not act so kindly if you do not acknowledge our request again.
Once again, the broadcasts of the Romans go unnoticed, but their fleets flying overhead at the coast of the largest Ranger outpost in Iberius Major do not. The Rangers mount battle stations, terrified of the foreign war planes that have suddenly appeared on the coast.
While the highly advanced proprietary communications the TPC uses throughout is unable to pick up any messages sent by Romans, they are entirely able to send a message back home.

"ALERT FROM RANGER STATION P-3

The headquarters of the TPC's entire military goes on full alert as the message hits home, and domestic media runs wild with speculations. Militia are deployed in major urban centers to quell panic.
I'll declare if carbon doesn't take his turn.

-BRN 'Alexios' has redeployed to the Bay of Biscay, and the CAG assigned to her have started patrolling the English channel. Several times they flew over the coast.
-An infantry division crosses into the claimed land of Hispania, to investigate if the so-called TPC even exists.
-Annexation of Leptis Magna and Bostra.
-Expansion towards the Danube.
-The airship fleet has started sailing over the Americas to find any valuable locations to claim.
Carbon you used an old map.
Also I'm gonna be away from my computer on vacation for about a week I'd like to ask that everyone leave the CSEE alone for that duration. I don't have the ability to edit maps where I am.

If you continue to not actually describe what you're doing, I'm gonna have to remove you from the game.
We shouldn't have to compare your map to the last one to try and find out what you did.

-The airships have created protectorates in Seattle, Anchorage, and Houston. The Basileia turned over their protectorate in Houston to the DSB.
-One of the airships dropped off an infantry division outside of the no-man's-land, as it's now called by officials in the empire, more specifically the holding in Maryland.
-Great headway is being made on the trip to Antarctica. The Basileus intends to control the whole of it by the time he dies.
-Iudaea has been annexed, alongside Paraetonium and Iuvavum.
-The infantry brigade into Lusitania has nearly reached Brigantium, intent on finding out why nobody has responded to the Basileia's demands.
-With the restoration of Aelia Capitolina, Basileia Rhomaion is one step closer to re-uniting Christendom. Only Konstantinoupolis remains to be retaken. Deus Vult!
-The first ballistic missiles roll off the assembly line in the mountains of Narbonensis, making the empire nuclear capable. Vita potest quam mirabilis.
-Research into advanced ballistics begins - the Basileia can be so much more than just a continental superpower...
alright, Regalis, you're being a bit of a nazi now.
He doesn't have to conform to a standard annexation pattern or use red borders if he doesn't want to. He just needs to get on top of his shit as far as using the right map and detailing his edits/actions.

Rangers continue into frontier territory, unable to pick up or comprehend any transmissions urging them to discontinue said expansion into Florida. They do, however, stop after a certain point for an unspecified reason.
The enroaching ships and submarines would indeed find that such a TPC exists, but they would also find their ships spontaneously exploding due to the extremely heavily mined waters housing previously undetected masses of explosives. Every vessel that is caught against one of these mines explodes into a terrifying green cloud of ash, every man and woman on-board near-instantly vaporized. It cannot be determined if the TPC has intentionally set these or if they were just there.
Two groups of aircraft of an unknown type take off from one of the major urban centers and split off East and West, possibly indicating that the TPC has detected the encroachment of other life towards their actual "legal" borders, and not just shoddily mapped Ranger frontier.
Meanwhile in the European sector, the Rangers' expansion into Iberius Major is dead halted when Terran Rangers report to P-3 that they have encountered large amounts of other-life soldiers moving in the direction of their annex. Most Rangers retreat to Ranger Outpost P-3 immediately.

And then all hell broke loose.
-When several cruisers of the fleet assigned to blockade the American coast hit mines, they limped back across the Atlantic for repairs, as the airships were not yet advanced enough to be able to perform mid-mission repairs on warships. This springs in motion a large amount of over-reaction on the part of the empire, resulting in an undeclared war.
-The "air-battleships" quickly place the coastline of Florida, the areas yet untouched, into a protectorate and turn it over to the DSB, which has yet to enter this war. Upon hearing of the news of several destroyers 'being fired upon by enemy gun emplacements' the airships unload their regiments <consisting of an infantry division and an armored support division, which contains both tank destroyers, MLRS artillery vehicles, standard artillery, and supply trucks> outside the TPC territory. These airships, capable of also carrying half of a carrier air group, release their jets to perform some recon and fly close air support for the troops below. The submarine pack remains in the area to continue its mission just outside the reach of the mines.
-The entire empire mobilizes its forces. Estimated time to finish mobilization: 4-6 months.
-Fighter-bombers target an airbase in Wessex, destroying the runway.
-The infantry divisions, bolstered by a mobilized artillery division, quickly overrun the TPC holdings in Hispania, and take over the city of Brigantium as well. The rangers are no match for the horde-sized armies of the empire, numbering nearly 35,000 men for just two infantry divisions.
-Armor and infantry advance into Germania Inferior, and prepare to enter Holland.
-The last unclaimed territory south of the great Danube is annexed. The airship 'Palaiologos' claims the Tip of Antarctica, as it is now referred to, and sets up a research base.
-Autocratic fervor has improved the technology of Basileia Rhomaion by +1. However, it would appear that the empire has plateaued for the time being in technology.

Rangers at Ranger Station P-3 in Iberius Major were not expecting to be attacked, and even in their superior training, their meagre numbers were no match for a vastly more numerous force. P-3 is utterly destroyed in the struggle to maintain its hold, and surviving Rangers disperse into the countryside. Rangers who were in the countryside already, scouting the land get word of the Terran loss and begin a withdraw from Iberius Major.
An easy win in Iberian territory would not spell further easy pickings once the confidence of Roman forces was high enough that they would attempt an attack on what could be determined as a Terran "heart land". Upon arrival, Roman air forces would, in their confusion see no assets parked in the Airport near the French-English channel. It was derelict. Soon enough, like reports of the ships on the American East Coast, comrades would watch as their wing-mens' jets dissipated into green ash. From below, they were being annihilated by some force that they could not detect.
The reports that could've gotten back to Roman authority would yield claims of Jets simply igniting, and then becoming nothing more than air-borne ash, hued green. These were laser defenses. The Terrans were far more fortified in their "heart land" than the Italians might have expected.
Even as the Roman air forces were beginning to pull away from their target, they were pursued by what could be assumed are the air forces of the TPC. Few but elite, these unconventional aircraft were difficult to detect on radar, extremely maneuverable (by accounts, they could vector using ports located exactly parallel to the axis they wished to burn on.) and impossible to hit with missiles nor gun, often exceeding velocities of four kilometers per second (fast enough to blatantly "outrun" guided missiles).
Needless to say, whatever airplanes that survived were so few that either the Terran air wing could no longer detect them, or simply did not see the point in further pursuing them.
'
-----
In the American half, the Terrans have employed some of their few advanced artillery systems to fend off a wide advance of Roman troops. These electrically driven, kinetic rounds could fly and remain lethal at fatal capacity for several hundred kilometers, allowing the operator to suppress the enemy in a wide swathe of territory and from a safe distance. The guns open fire on the positions forward of the advancing Roman military assets, perhaps attempting to dissuade them from moving further. If they did, they would immediately begin targeting the true positions of Imperial forces.
Still, no communications have been attempted with the Romans, either because the Terrans do not care to, or they are unable to.
Perhaps if a Ranger at P-3 was captured, he may yield some answers to the hostilities done upon the Empire?

-Heavy bombardment authorized. Fire for effect. . . . The artillery systems at Pennsylvania are annihilated. Nothing like the smell of napalm in the morning.
-Low-yield atomic rounds are loaded in the airship cannons. The rounds will detonate in mid-air to destroy anything that tries to come near the airships, or their deployed units. A simple counter to a complicated problem.
-When several fighters from the TPC stray near the airships, a round is fired and detonated 3000 meters above ground. There are no survivors. Area deemed dangerous to travel through for several days.
-The flagship of the Roman fleet returns to the Mediterranean to be refitted with new aircraft after the destruction of more than half her air group.
-While Roman infantry protection is more contemporary, their armor is nothing short of deceptive. Designed to resemble an old vehicle from the 90's, the Lasher main battle tank is equipped with a prototype active defense system that will shoot down incoming projectiles before they can destroy the tank, a unique composite armor designed just for the Lasher, a 1,500 HP engine pushing 60 tons, and a 130mm prototype coilgun, and the Challenger heavy tank, in addition to the engine, armor system and ADS from the Lasher, is equipped with a prototype laser in place of a gun, which can melt even the composite of the Lasher in seconds. The tanks quickly overrun most of Holland in just two days.
-Receiving word on the air and defense capabilities of the TPC, the Basileus decides to attempt to communicate with the governing body of the nation again. He orders interrogation to begin of captured rangers from Brigantium. In addition several agents are placed in TPC territory, ordered to find where the governing body is, and report back to high command.
-Mobilization 40%.
Word of a nuclear airburst slowly reaches the council (wherever it may be), and soon enough the public.
The worst kind of offense has been done. The Terrans are in nothing short of an outrage.
All nuclear missiles are now armed and ready to launch including a prototype silo hidden somewhere in Manhattan. The only thing pointing to the existence of said silo are from pre-war documents referencing them. It could be anything from an advanced new type of missile-borne weapon to a very powerful nuclear device.
Rangers captured in the battle of Iberius Major yield no intelligence, sensitive or not. They do not respond, they do not even acknowledge the existence of their captors, forcing Roman handlers to have them physically pushed around in order to move them.
The Rangers send a physical envoy behind "enemy lines" in attempts to contact this new and elusive foe whom they've gotten no word from so far.

-Amsterdam is captured. The interrogation of the rangers garrisoned there begins, hopefully with different results. With Amsterdam's capture a fleet docks, prepared to ferry the infantry and tanks there across the channel if needed, as the Chunnel appears to be collapsed.
-The flagship carrier receives a new carrier air group and heads back out to sea.
-A frontline is established in America, with fortifications along the borders.
-An armored corps ships out along the coast of the Baltic sea, destined to occupy the TPC's holdings in Scandinavia.
-An individual appearing to hail from the TPC is revealed near Romi. He is brought before the Mons Palatinus and Basileus Arcadius himself.
Your government has been asked multiple times to remove themselves from Hispania and Florida, each time we the Basileia Rhomaion were ignored. When we blockaded your ports for this act of arrogance, not even acknowledging our existence, one of our destroyers was fired upon and a cruiser struck by a torpedo.
Now we have retaliated. Explain the actions of your nation.

The Terran envoy leaves, and soon comes back with an offer for the leaders of Rome to meet in a summit with the leaders of the TPC, and tour the major urban center and learn of its culture. The council's only demand is an immediate cease fire. They assure, through the envoy that all will be explained at the summit.
[editline]16th June 2014[/editline]
The council also demands a military retreat from the "legal" borders of the nation. It will then hear their demands and attempt to cooperate at the summit.

Next, the Envoy is later joined by a convoy of old American troop helicopters.
Basilius Arcadeus is taken to the grand urban sprawl of post-apocalyptic New York City, the TPC's de facto capitol.

It is a grand urban sprawl, the ruined skyscrapers of the old world still scantily piercing the sky in all their glory. Much of the city looks like it has gone through its paces, but signs of new beginnings are everywhere. The once-hidden secret defenses the USA built in expectation of nuclear war show clearly in this de-facto capitol of the Terran people; countless legions of magnificent focused laser cannons deployed from the city's underground, and dozens of other defenses lie in wait of anyone who dares threaten the peace. The streets below are sparsely populated, but even from the air the fresh smell of a civilization on the rise can enter the nose, eyes, and ears of the Hellenic leader.

The pilot of the craft transporting them, clad in a jet black, light-dotted flight suit chuckles with a speaker-like croak as he comes over his home, the only place he's ever known.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" He chimes, the intricate Latin dialect of the Terrans imposing itself with a half-certain sense to it.
The helicopter suddenly rears upwards, slowing for its descent. The metronomic chop of its military grade engine whips through the air, bouncing off of the tall skyscrapers.
Finally, they've arrived.
The Freedom Tower, it's called. It was built at a height matching the founding date of the country that built it. Shortened and cut up by the nuclear fire that consumed it, it stood a cold husk, its mesmerizing glass walls reflecting the dim sky and blending the building in with it, true meaning lost to the wind of un-kept history. Now, it had a new purpose. The Hellenic figure of authority was welcomed with great politeness as they he foot onto the cold asphalt of New York City's street. They were led inside this Freedom tower.
It was much more refurbished in the inside, now brandishing banners of the new civilization. The lobby led to an elevator, and the the Hellens embarked this glorious lift to the top. There, they would come before the council; a conglomeration of twenty-five very different but equally capable individuals. Young, old, man, woman, poor, rich. The Terran leadership was all of its people faithfully represented by twenty five human beings. They sat in seats installed upon raised aisles, like an old Roman senate.
The speaker of the council looked up, straightening the papers in his hand and clearing his throat. He was an old man, battered by age. He looked like he'd seen a lot, been through many times good and bad. Truly, he must have earned his role through merit and his aura resonated a certain feeling of justice, morality.

"Welcome to our abode...Leader of the Italian people. The council is ready to receive you. Shall we begin?"
Arcadius looks over at his foreign minister a moment.
"Did they call us the leaders of the Italians?"
He shakes his head. "Romans. And Greeks."
"Let's get to it, then."
"Very well."

On the original topic is the conflict which sprouted as a result of these mines, as well as the topic of your existence. You may not have known, but as far as we are aware much of the world save the United States, Russia, and Great Britain are virtually untouched by war - save for the part where all have devolved into micronations and citystates, ripe for the picking. Our great nation seized this opportunity to retake its long-lost de jure territory, but the circumstances that led to this war was your attempt at colonizing Florida and annexing Lusitania. I represent two powers today, the DSB and my own Basileia Rhomaion.
