Why can't I cock it by pulling pack the hammer?
[editline]10:54PM[/editline]
Still really cool though.

That's pretty nice, but I'd say that the recoil animation is a bit too much. Oh, and if you're looking for sounds, try stealing some from fpsbanana.com, they've got lots of user-uploaded ones that are great.
Did you try enabling motion blur on the slide? That'd probably look a lot better than on the AK-47.
[editline]03:14PM[/editline]
Also the casings rotate very trippy when they're ejected. :v:

Make it so i can cock the hammer :3

nah i just used the 1911 sounds from l4d
[editline]04:15PM[/editline]
and yeah, but I disabled the motion blur because it lagged out even on my desktop.
By the way, pulling back the hammer wouldn't cock the gun, would it? I mean, the hammer is retracted but a bullet hasn't been loaded into the chamber, right?
very good but you should be able to disassemble it as well
[QUOTE=fewes;21920985]By the way, pulling back the hammer wouldn't cock the gun, would it? I mean, the hammer is retracted but a bullet hasn't been loaded into the chamber, right?[/QUOTE]
Yup, you can do it on empty chamber. Although it's not recommended.
I noticed a few things: (about the AK47 Sim)
1. there is no button on the back end of the upper receiver to release it
2. there is no gas ejecting from the gas tube
3. the grip is a little off
4. an ammo counter would be nice
5. the area behind the bolt carrier/dust cover is not solid, it is a gap for the bolt to slide and looks a little strange being colored in
these are little things but overall this is really cool and fun to play around with
[QUOTE=PLing;21922553]Yup, you can do it on empty chamber. Although it's not recommended.[/QUOTE]
Wouldn't the gun just click (hammer slams nothing)?
Yeah but it's not good for the gun.

So, whenever someone pulls the hammer back while pointing a gun at someone in a movie they're really holding an un-cocked gun? Silly movie industry.

i don't know anything about guns :(
i just trace them in flash
[editline]10:17PM[/editline]
actually wait, so do you actually need to pull black the SLIDE to load the bullet? does it load the bullet anyway when you fire if you don't? does pulling back the hammer serve any real purpose other than looking cool in the movies?
somebody explain handgun workings to me

Pulling back the slide does chamber a bullet (it also retracts the hammer), while retracting the hammer does not.
I don't really see the point of being able to freely retract the hammer, though, since it's logically impossible to have the hammer in the neutral state with a bullet in the chamber(?). I'm going to ask /k/, they definitely know.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you can have a round in the chamber but the hammer not pulled back. See in all the movies when the tension is over, the guy returns the hammer back forward, effectively de-cocking the gun?
To load the first round in the chamber (if none is left from previous fire action) you need to pull the slide back.
In some guns the slide stays back after the last shot until it is released forward (usually with a lever next to your thumb), practically doing the same thing automatically.
oh ok so when in a game, your person reloads the gun without cocking the slide, it makes no sense?
[QUOTE=Rusty100;21940410]oh ok so when in a game, your person reloads the gun without cocking the slide, it makes no sense?[/QUOTE]
If there's one bullet still chambered it makes perfect sense. However, if there's no bullet in the chamber, the gun needs to be cocked after inserting a new magazine. If you cock the gun even though a bullet is chambered, the gun will eject a round.
[editline]01:48PM[/editline]
Also, it seems it is possible to de-cock a pistol by pulling the trigger while holding the hammer and then return it to it's neutral position.
[editline]01:53PM[/editline]
Also:
[QUOTE=/k/]
You are probably referring to movies in which a character cocks a DA/SA handgun. Such weapons can be fired both cocked and uncocked by simply pulling the trigger, though it is far easier to do when the weapon is cocked (Single Action). Hollywood often gets it wrong and has a bad guy threaten someone with a decocked 1911. Then they focus on his cocking it, and those who know facepalm very hard.
[/QUOTE]
Yup, on single/double-action guns drawing the hammer back sort of tenses the trigger so it's easier and quicker to pull. But as stated 1911 requires the hammer to be drawn for it to fire.
It's like a mix of a revolver and a blowback pistol! D:
But hey.. We really love guns, don't we?
i'm so confused
ITT gun 101
A normal blowblack pistol works just like the ak-47, only that you have the opportunity to cock the hammer without having to pull the bolt back.
There :P
[editline]03:35PM[/editline]
And if you pull the trigger with the hammer un-cocked on some guns, the hammer will be pulled back and released ^^
If it's single action, you'll have to pull the hammer back for it to shoot, but pulling the slide back after loading a magazine will cock it anyways.
