i think because theyre solving a police v protest situation with pepsi
We had a similar sort of advertisement here in India, it was funny though and took the piss at politicized student's protests.
Add was dumb. Hubbub over the add is also dumb.
This is like the Che Guevara shirt of advertisements.
Their slogan "live for now" is supposed to be an encouragement but when I first saw it my mind read it as "live, for now" as if it was some sort of veiled threat.
I was too busy checking out Kendall to worry about the background bullshit drama/"controversy of this ad. It's a fucking pepsi ad.
You ever take your blonde wig off and end oppression by handing out Pepsi
erry day
one step closer to the pepsi singularity
This feels like some sort of subliminal message telling people to go rioting or something :tinfoil:
What a shitty ad...
Everything wrong with advertising.

may 4, 1970. the students of kent state have gathered to protest the united state's ongoing involvement in vietnam. as the crowd grows in size and restlessness, the local government gets worried. the national guard is deployed, their charge "keep the peace". things start getting heated, and the guard gets nervous and wreckless. then it happens: shots are fired. a protesting student collapses to the ground, blood pouring out of his wound. he is not long for this world. then, as if given a message from god himself, a quick-thinking student opens his Pepsi© cola and pours it into the injured protestor's bullet wound. the delicious carbonation and sweet cola flavor pushes the bullet out of the bleeding hole and quickly heals it up. the protestor, dazed but thankful, begins to cry out "thank you, Pepsi©, thank you!". one week later, the united states pulls out of vietnam.

The squad then formed a semicircle around the demonstrators, A young man in the emerged from the crowd and started pouring ice cold, refreshing Pepsi© into the barrels of the rifles. The use of nonviolent objects such as toys, flags, music, and the smooth sweet taste of Pepsi© Cola were meant to show that the movement was not associated with anger or violence, but instead crisp, bold refreshment. This began a radical social change that culminated with the 1974 impeachment of President Richard Nixon, a noted Coca-Cola drinker.
Does anyone have a mirror or reupload of the vid? It's been taken down :v: [editline]5th April 2017[/editline] Nvm, found it, jesus what a shitty commercial

lmao is this what society has devolved to? I mean, the ad is cheesy as fuck and is quite lame, but to get this amount of backlash is just ridiculous. I wanna get off of this rollercoaster that we call life.

What the fuck is there to get upset about?
it takes two seconds to write an internet comment stop pretending like people are calling for Pepsi to be shutdown or something [editline].[/editline] which I'm sure some less reasonable/more sensationalist people are but the majority of people are simply pointing out that it's a scummy ad

Pepsi has trampled our civil liberties with this one. It's offensive to me that you're NOT more offended to be honest. Let me highlight this little nugget of distilled hatred: \ " Black women are perpetually shown in service to white women. "
it's not like a disservice to humanity or anything but it's an ad trying to pander to protesters and protester supporters without realizing how said people would react when they inserted a celebrity and reduced ongoing serious tensions said people are dealing with to "drink pepsi." it'd probably be better if they were trying to make a conscious joke out of it, but they're not. it's funny how off the mark they were. it's not like they got censored, people told Pepsi they made a really fucking stupid ad for the audience they were trying to target and Pepsi obviously didn't want to keep that ad up.

adding to the pile of jokes I've seen the past few days- [t]https://68.media.tumblr.com/c07509317fd3c802fb12ec686391ac2e/tumblr_onwu8oDlZQ1qz6f9yo1_1280.jpg[/t] god going over the commercial and trying to decipher exactly how it was written in any form of pitch is surreal, people are celebrating a cop taking a swig with a shit eating grin like they found out the berlin wall is getting torn down [editline]e[/editline] [t]https://68.media.tumblr.com/0d753c23e5f43b7494e72dc851af3034/tumblr_onykubq8T81u8mshoo1_1280.jpg[/t]

My guess is whoever sold this pitch, pitched it exactly that way - I'm sure that they must have some existing ad floating about somewhere where the fans of two rival football teams or something have an exact same trite, saccharine moment. So some exec looked at that, then at this pitch and thought "hey, why not marry this idea to what's popular in the news right know, like this BLM thing that my nephew with the tweeter-whatsit keeps talking about" And thus, this abomination was born.
