SOPA is a result of corporate lobbying, something I think should be illegal. We are a democracy, not a oligarchy.
People used to think that corporations controlling the government was Science Fiction, yet it looks like it's creeping closer and closer to becoming simply a fact. In fact, who's to say that it isn't already at that point?
Move all servers to Holland. Problem solved.

It has been at that point for quite a while, things are often kept behind closed doors. Vested interests need to be halted and strung up for the shitmongers they are

What about [DATA EXPUNGED]?
You know, I think this actually has a chance of passing. Think about it: how many ordinary, non-techy americans understand that this could limit free speech and other rights? to them it just sounds like a law that stops pirating. Heck, If i hadn't read this post, I never would have even thought about how it would affect youtube, facebook, etc. On top of that, this has no news coverage. No one knows its happening.

Even worse yet, it probably won't get any news coverage because the news corporations are behind the bill.
So basically if this passes, the internet will be unsafe?. Good thing I have an xbox ~-~
You know what to do...
Kill Bill!
Read this you jerks
So Senator Wyden in return of hearing how opponents will not be let in is planning on filibustering the shit out of the bill, and is going to read everyones names off that signs this bill in protest to show people don't want it. Sign it to get your name read off during the hearing.
nice that there is one guy on our side.
If that bill passes the president will probably get impeached.
If this bill passes I wont vote for obama again Ill vote for Ron Paul.
If this bill passes I wont vote for obama again Ill vote for Ron Paul.
the good thing about ron paul is that if corporations want something they won't have to lobby for it they'll just have to buy out everything that opposes it and do it themselves
If this bill passes I wont vote for obama again Ill vote for Ron Paul.
I hope you are trolling.
You know...
This thing still has to go through the supreme court.
And the companies can't do shit to them really.
They'll declare this bill unconstitutional and move on.
...I hope.
WHAT THE FUCK, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! Stupid old men sitting at the congress table. A bunch of old diaper-wearing men and women shouldn't be deciding what happens. And as Sift posted, make sure to sign the petition at http://stopcensorship.org/
I hope you are trolling.
Actually, he has a point.
If this thing actually passes, that means that either Obama signed the damn thing, or it passed through a 2/3 majority vote AFTER he veto'd it.
Hopefully neither happens, but if the first one happens, I'm not voting for him in the coming election. If the second one happens, and he does nothing about it, it shows he isn't willing to show a little backbone against Congress, and I'm still not voting for him.
That doesn't necessarily mean, however, that I would vote for Ron Paul.

only if someone brings it to the court. which I'm sure they will, put will the old fogies on the bench be any different then the old fogies at Washington?
wait what?
[editline]20th November 2011[/editline]
I have a question for you, and for evlbz. Do you two vote in elections?
If I remember, I tend to vote for whoever is locally doing good things which affect me directly and I have no faith in "democracy" as it is really. Needs some serious refining and the bullshit strained out
This is garbage. I used to be an FP regular, but now I only come every few months. Every time I visit however, there is always the eminent threat of a censorship bill looming around the corner. We are not under any threat.

It's because people resist, you flaming idiot. That's why these things don't go through.
The other reason it's justifiable is that people need to know about this kind of thing. People deserve to know about things that will effect them.
, and each time you get a rally of people crying about freedom of speech and all of that bullshit.
This is hilariously dumb.
This bill is ██████ and very ██ Especially how it's ██████
Anymore news on the bill?
