I've just seen the second episode. They do 2 fights per episode from now on.

On note of the seemingly fake combat:

If they made 100% real fighting robots (of the same size), when they broke not only would it cost way more than just a plastic actuator, but also the fighting would not be as entertaining. Our robot technology has advanced to the point where we can have fights like this, but its not 100% full force fighting that is causing the damage.

The creators of the robots obviously added plastic hydraulics, weak bolts, and thin metal in order to add to the destruction. The occasional sparks or whatever are just there to show a good blow that otherwise would look the same as the others. Otherwise it would be no more entertaining than a bulldozer fight.
