This video would have a lot more strength if it didn't keep veering into parroting /v/ shit, like "OH GOD DINA FUCKED HER WAY INTO INAFUNE'S GAME" when the only reason people threw a shit at her was because she was a grill who never played Mega Man. Or that "this shouldn't be on steam it's not a game" nigga if you don't like the game that's on steam then don't play it.
Yeah that is true, Inafunes shit was stupid, Dina doesnt even do shit except be a PR person and her hate was fucking retarded. I do think steam should have far more quality control, but if the game at least works and isnt lying about itself and its an unfinished piece of shit I dont give a fuck.
I'm still sad that Wizardchan is not actually a message board about 'hocus pocus' :(
I don't think people are getting suspended for poor ratings, probably more for reviews along the lines of this one that have nothing to do with the game and aren't a review at all
Oh come on, nearly every game has comments and reviews on them like that. The fact that this one is getting any special treatment in the least is ridiculous.
Oh come on, nearly every game has comments and reviews on them like that. The fact that this one is getting any special treatment in the least is ridiculous.
I dunno, when you have people just reposting all the doxx and whatever in there I don't think special treatment is ridiculous. Especially since the game has an educational goal, joke reviews don't really have a place on the page
Oh come on, nearly every game has comments and reviews on them like that. The fact that this one is getting any special treatment in the least is ridiculous.
Troll/joke reviews are one thing, actively harassing and slandering people with them are another.
Oh come on, nearly every game has comments and reviews on them like that. The fact that this one is getting any special treatment in the least is ridiculous.
All reviews like that one should get "special treatment", imo. I know that the fact that only a few are getting it atm is arbitrary but hey, it's a start.
Problem: the picture I replied to was that of one that only said 'Five Guys Burger and Fries'
Problem, they both still violate the established rules. Posting her info counts as personally identifiable information, and the five guys idiocy is spam. Everyone is informed of these rules when they post a review, all reviews are subject to flagging or deletion in the event they violate these rules, and violation of these rules can be grounds for bans.
If half this drama is true, then holy shit... [t]http://i.imgur.com/alXe4vA.jpg[/t]
Oh man, she's getting eaten' alive by other female developers on tumblr
If half this drama is true, then holy shit... [t]http://i.imgur.com/alXe4vA.jpg[/t]
I gotta admit, provided she doesn't actually frame them, that's a good prank. I'm surprised /v/ fell for it.
The censorship is still going hard, woke up to this fucking mess of a thread. THOUSANDs of comments being deleted. I mean fucking hundreds, like 700+ http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/2dz0gs/totalbiscuit_discusses_the_state_of_games Mod most likely in question
The tweets were because personal information was being posted in the Reddit thread.
When Doxxing and witch hunts happen there is a set process we follow: ONE: Remove all offending content and report users up to Admin for ToS violations. Create automated methods to remove further Doxxing and threats. TWO: Contact the person at threat to make sure they realize the situation, what Reddit is doing to ensure their safety, and that they know to contact Moderators and/or Admin regarding this situation. This is why I reached out via twitter. This is a rule I hold myself to personally, and personally advocate for. Admin do not require this explicitly. THREE: Assess the initial point of the Witch hunt. If it's a problem, lock the thread entirely so any further breaches aren't possible. This cannot end well.

I thought picsofdeadkids got the axe a while ago.

The Quinnspiracy is real! [T]http://i.imgur.com/xzIuduf.png[/T] :tinfoil:
It legit seems like facepunch is the only place to talk about this. Even fucking 4CHAN is getting censored. Hooooly shit.
This censorship is going to make things a lot worse.
It legit seems like facepunch is the only place to talk about this. Even fucking 4CHAN is getting censored. Hooooly shit.
no its just that people keep making several threads, there is always one
It legit seems like facepunch is the only place to talk about this. Even fucking 4CHAN is getting censored. Hooooly shit.
As soon as people start posting the doxx here that's probably going to change. Thankfully we're a bit too far gone for people to be making duplicate threads so that "censorship" probably won't happen here either. And of course Facepunch is generally a less spam-friendly environment than those places so the 56 reposts of "Five Guys Burgers" wouldn't happen here anyway.
Video game journalism may be in a sorry state, but in my opinion the French magazine Canard PC is the last bastion of hope. I'm not even advertising, if you read it you know it's true. They're the only guys I know of who actually seem to think like FacePunch for instance, and they don't hesitate to joke and report about all the times some big studio tried to buy them off for a nice review for a game. Which often encourages them to lower the notation of the game in question, by the way. Really, I don't know any other magazine or even professional reviewing website that thinks like them. And they're funny as hell too.
Canard PC independence from the game companies is recognized in the French video gaming circles.[...] Independent studies have shown that Canard PC review a lot of games not even mentioned by other magazines or websites specialized in video games, and has a strong dispersion of its notations. Canard PC Managing editor, Ivan Gaudé, recognized in a video games critics panel on a French network that they did not like notations very much, but they felt they had to put them for their reviews because gamers wanted them.
I wish there was an English-speaking equivalent, but I don't know any.
Does anyone really read gaming journalism, besides just looking at what score they give to games? I feel so out of the loop when reading about this event, despite playing a bunch of games and moderating a gaming forum. This whole thing just seems so ridiculous to me. I'm feeling that I'm probably getting much more out of reading what people on Facepunch thinks about a game, than what a single journalist may think.

Part of the reason garbage games keep getting bought.

If it's personal information beyond her name then yeah, I'd understand that, I'd probably remove such things as well out of decency. (not exactly sure if the rule applies on people outside Facepunch though).
Guys, comeon. Can you people just not let it go?

All just getting deleted hour after hour across fuckloads of sites. This was mostly 2 days ago when it was happening a lot, but with the final bang today with the /r/gaming everyone pretty much knows. People in charge or with power on these sites were saying nothing at all, it was just weird seeing something like this be so quick to be deleted on so many sites without any word at all. Strange situation that raised questions, whether its all circumstantial I dunno, I dont think theres some big shadowy group censoring shit, but I wouldnt be surprised if Zoe and friends contacted places to keep it off the sites, she already did an abuse of a DMCA takedown on youtube AND got someones entire site taken down. It was some gaming blog and someone just did some write up on the situation.
I actually came here due to what I saw on /r/gaming. That shit was weird. Man I wish I was part of some shadowy global internet police.
You're hired (ban troots for spreading Zoe Quinn info ty) But no, gaming journalism is dumb all round. Even people like campster (errant signal) hold such biases towards companies and people. I'd really love a more objective unbiased approach to games sometimes, you might even miss out on a great product merely because of the people who made it, but not really in this case. I go to Kotaku every now and then, and a couple of other sites and they all seem to be trying to be the vice of gaming, but completely missing the point in the process. I love games, I just hate the entire culture around most of it, from big companies to small indies. It's got so wrapped up in shit that people will miss the good stuff, and I hope people stop focusing on the negatives like this, and just avoid giving these people the time of day and find some of the good stuff

I can't remember if they've ever banned threads because of doxxing in the past.
What's going on in the Game Journalism scene is deplorable but I really wish idiots would stop harassing Zoe's family by calling her house. They only fuel the conflict and make the game community look worse.
