not exactly obscure, but http://www.scaruffi.com/ is a huge wealth of information. Basically it's all the writing of Piero Scaruffi. Excellent writings on an amazing variety of music, but many other topics. Also one of the older websites on the net (it looks like it too)
I don't know if you guys remember, but I'm from Winter_Gaming. Remember that place with the sad leaving note? You see, I didn't want to be distracted with things such as foruming in my life as I pursued a career. It was far too much work to get on the websites. This forum was my worst I have ever made, and thus, it made me quit and realize this is not what I wanted to do. I was great at starting forums... Anyway, there is only one person that I can't come in contact with that website. That would be Arion_Orion. He was my best friend on there and forumed with him for, roughly, four years. Wherever I was, he followed. I had great friends. Um... I saw that you guys wondered what happened to us. Are there any other questions?
How did you find out, and were you surprised?
I'm too scared to click on any of these.
-snip- late
This brought up some memories, because I was an administrator of a forum that was dying. I didn't have time to devote to trying to fix it, and so many of the veterans had stopped being active. Eventually I had just stopped going. This thread made me visit again, and what I saw made me so sad, but happy too. The remaining members had moved on. They made a new forum, and it is thriving. I've never been so sad to see something succeed when I had always wanted it to succeed. I'm sad because I couldn't fix it, and I wasn't good enough to fix it. I didn't care enough, so they moved on. I hate myself for this, and I regret it.

An old cheerleading forum I'm a member of: http://s3.invisionfree.com/Cheerleading
Not completely dead/abandoned/old but really brings back memories for me http://www.purepwnage.com/forums/ loved this show then the one of the actors got into a car crash and died and the writers got depressed and stopped making the main internet show.
All this talk of abandoned forums is making me sad, facepunch is going to be like that one day unless garry pulls a "dread pirate roberts" on us.

You guys should see this thread in Netscape [editline]15th May 2011[/editline] It actually handles the main page pretty good, but it crashed trying to load this page..heh.
No Netscape is the best browser don't be silly
Netscape is pretty awesome
How did you find out, and were you surprised?
Um... Someone emailed me. I was, actually, checking my old websites that day, anyway. I would have found it no matter what. I check them every half year because I have old pictures and memories on them. It's nice to go back and reread how you once were, and then, you imagine older you punching younger you in the face. I was a bit surprised that people do stuff like this. It's pretty cool, and I think more people should do it. To be honest, I was thinking of bringing back one of my older websites. Not that one, due to the color scheme, but one that's nicer to the eyes. LOL! I thought my retinas were going to burn when I went on there. I never remember it being that bright. XD
Netscape is pretty awesome
True, I remember using Netscape, what two years ago ?

http://www.heavensgate.com/ Ladies and gentlemen, here is some creepy and interesting shit. These guys were members of the cult of the same name and they all committed suicide so they could go see Jesus in his spaceship. The site is still up with all the transcripts, stories, essays and more all written by the members. The last update done on this was in 1997, before they offed themselves.

I don't believe in god (shocking for a fp'er huh) but if you believed in Jesus you'd know that in the bible etc it says that it's against suicide. (The new testament at least, the old testament is kinda insane so I don't know bout that)

This is too creepy guys, what happens when facepunch dies too!? Soon theres gonna be a forums that has a thread just like ours! and then they will start wondering what "facepunch" is just like now!:psyduck:
Dying gaming communities are so sad. I was from this old place called KwA. I visited again and it looks like they got taken over by a pissed of banned hacking member. I then went later and the domain was on sale on godaddy. Right now I'm in a community called rG and things are not looking so well. Imagine facepunch slipping away.
You guys forgot this beauty. http://www2.warnerbros.com/spacejam/movie/jam.htm
