Wasn't Christ really born in like June or July?
Yeah, it's more of a symbolic thing that goes back to early Britain to coincide with the winter solstice I believe.
Yeah, it's more of a symbolic thing that goes back to early Britain to coincide with the winter solstice I believe.
A lot of Christian holidays don't actually have anything to do with Christianity at all, from what I've heard. Christmas is an amalgamation of the Winter Solstice (a Pagan holiday), Yule (a Scandinavian holiday), and the church trying to get more members.
Correcting pseudo-history never not matters.
Not as pseudo as you might think. You see, back when Christianity was still a cult stemming from Judaism, there were lots of misunderstandings and intolerance between the pagans and the Christians. In order to not piss off the pagans so much, Christians modified their calendar somewhat so their holidays would be in close proximity to pagan ones, so that they could warm people up to the idea.

There was a rather nice documentary on the BBC which talked about the early history and I found it really interesting.
It's a religious thing to celebrate the birth of Christ on Christmas Evening.
Not necessarily, even if you don't believe in the Christian religion then if you acknowledge the accuracy of any history from that time period you can still celebrate the birth of a pretty important historical figure, also technically speaking Christmas itself originated more as an attempt to secularize Christianity by timing a major holiday to happen around the same time as significant holidays in other faiths. Not to mention all the Christmas has since become.
As a Christmas present for yourself, try to forget to hate yourself for just one day and have fun this Christmas.
Wouldn't that be a nice one for me :v
As a Christmas present for yourself, try to forget to hate yourself for just one day and have fun this Christmas.
Way ahead of you, every day of the week.
Way ahead of you, every day of the week.
My jealousy knows no bounds.
except atheism is a choice, love.
No, belief is a choice. Atheism is the default position of all things. That's like saying not having icing on your cake is a choice. All cakes start off without icing.
No, belief is a choice. Atheism is the default position of all things. That's like saying not having icing on your cake is a choice.
No, not at all, if left to their own devices everyone will come up with something, and it's very unlikely that that something will be nothing.
what does this even mean there is literally an infinite amount of things I, and EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE does not believe in, it is not a choice to not believe in any of those infinite amount of things.
what does this even mean there is literally an infinite amount of things I, and EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE does not believe in, it is not a choice to not believe in any of those infinite amount of things.
Yes, yes it is. What I'm saying is is that if someone somehow manages to avoid all religious (including atheist) influences their entire life they're going to come up with some type of beliefs on their own, and in all the infinite possibilities the odds of those beliefs being nothing at all are nil. Atheism is no "default position" everyone has a different default position, if they have one at all, most have their religion decided for them so they never do develop their own default.
quick survey: how many of you here are actually offended by the term "faggot" a trend it seems that I find is that it seems straight people tend to be more offended by it than LGBT I personally am not offended by it because I think it is an excellent curse word that has a nice ring and rhythm to it.

That and it's hard to take seriously in this day and age with it's infamous 12 year old Xbox Live fanbase.
I call people faggots for humour value. Usually in a funny situation.
i always call myself a faggot

If it's being used as an insult directly against gay/trans people as a means to insult them for being what they are, yes. Otherwise no.
Faggot sounds more amusing than an insult imo. Like nignog. That makes me think the person who genuinely uses it as an insult has the IQ of a carrot.
oh man. I'm soooo tired, I just couldn't get sleep last night at all, I was up till 5:30 in the morning to then get woken up by my sisters at 8 o'clock for Christmas.

We dunno why, we just do it, we arent offended by it in anyway. And now since my friends know my identity they have started calling me bitch and whore :3 We say it with a smile on our faces.
Yeah my group of friends say some abusive shit to each other (me included) and if we're drinking we hit points where its like "Wow we really took that one too far didnt we" lol
