came out (as thinking (pretty damn sure though tbh) I am a transgender person) to my brother and sister was the most awkward drawn out thing with so much hinting involved that it was literally no surprise when I officially announced it god it's hard, don't think I'll be able to announce it to my parents as I had planned to before I go back to university, which sucks.
New pants :3
Some kind soul here on facepunch spared me the trouble of coming out to my brother, but she didn't tell me that she told him. But it was very awkward when my brother told me that he knew.
offtopic but I forgot you were on my ignore list, dunno why you were on there in the first place :v: ah more ontopic goodness but some guy had the gall to insult me n shit about me being tg [not sure if I posted it in this thread] and I looked at his facebook and it's like he's made of butter
Derp derp derp
Get out of the thread.
I wasn't gonna say anything about it, seeing as what happened last time I had an issue with the word trap, but yea please don't do that.
I dont think Ive said this, but I quite like everyone here. I didnt know transgenderism existed at all until my best friend told me she was transgender. I handled it incredibly badly because I didnt know what it was and wasnt sure how to react. But you're all nice people here. I enjoy reading about your days and such.
trap trap trap trap trap Grow up, it's a four letter word. And if you looked at the manga he was referencing it was actually pretty fitting for the quoted post.
trap trap trap trap trap Grow up, it's a four letter word. And if you looked at the manga he was referencing it was actually pretty fitting for the quoted post.
the implications of that word are awful
Id take being called a trap a compliment but Im not exactly in the same situation. Its easier just to be courteous and not use it given its obvious it can be offensive.
Id take being called a trap a compliment but Im not exactly in the same situation. Its easier just to be courteous and not use it given its obvious it can be offensive.
This. I mean yeah it can be offensive, that doesn't mean it's always used offensively.
I didn't think everyone would get so mad about it... I'm sorry if you thought I was being offensive in any way. It was not my intention.
trap trap trap trap trap Grow up, it's a four letter word.
trap trap trap trap trap Grow up, it's a four letter word. And if you looked at the manga he was referencing it was actually pretty fitting for the quoted post.
Why are you trying to pick a fight? Other people don't like the word, regardless of how fitting it would be for what was referenced or wether or not you think of it as a compliment, because of its implications and meaning.
why is trap such a looked down word here? it's just a word, and only a word. I would never use trap as an offensive term. Traps are the best, and I like traps the most. [editline]30th December 2012[/editline] anyway, I'm going to go. I'd thought I'd fit in here, but it seems I've fucked that up. again sorry if you think I'm being "insensitive" or whatever. never my intention, but fine. see you guys later
why is trap such a looked down word here? it's just a word, and only a word. I would never use trap as an offensive term. Traps are the best, and I like traps the most.
Because a lot of us don't like the implication of being called a TRAP. As in, something that tricks people into unfortunate circumstance. It's based out of the stereotype that trans women are men that are trying to trick straight men into sex. :/ [editline]31st December 2012[/editline]
I am actually somewhat curious, what exactly is the problem with that word anyway?

It's based out of the stereotype that trans women are men that are trying to trick straight men into sex.
Because Transwomen are very commonly misinterpreted as "Traps" The term is supposed to mean Crossdressing male who passes for a female. People turned it into a horrible term to mean "anyone who is trans or cd is trying to trick me into having sex with them ew!!!" It's yet another thing that contributes to the continued misunderstandings that cause transphobia.

I mean yeah it can be offensive, that doesn't mean it's always used offensively.
Even if you don't mean to hurt someone by punching them, you still hurt them if you do it.
This. I mean yeah it can be offensive, that doesn't mean it's always used offensively.
It implies that the "trap" is a femine man or a man dressing like a woman rather than just a woman. That's why it's offensive. I can understand why some people would take it as a compliment, but it does imply the opposite of what I, and I assume most people want.
I've heard trap is usually used offensively, but everywhere I see it used is as a term of endearment. It all depends on who you are calling it I guess.
For the record I wasn't offended, but that has more to do with me having skin thick enough to make a tank jealous after years of harassment and bullying, rather than the term trap not being offensive to me. It isn't that big of a deal in this case, but that's because it was me. I don't want you to go, but just consider your words a little more in here; we're a sensitive bunch that are pretty a discriminated against in the world at large, we'd like to chose the terms of discourse, at least in here, alright? c:
Offtopic, but what's everyone doing for New Years Day?
Its NYE for me right now Just had dinner.. gonna drink a few beers then a girl wants to "See me"
I'm going to the party I mentioned earlier with a bunch of strangers, got told there's apparently going to be more than fifteen people at the party, of which I know three or so. It's a little scary, but considering what people have told me both online and offline, I'm not too concerned.
I'm going to eat cake and a whole pizza because it's my birthday. [editline]31st December 2012[/editline] Gonna get fat overnight :v:
