Hi everyone, new to this thread :> I'm 16, 6' 7", British and I classify myself a transsexual, I've been thinking on and off for years now, but recently it's just been on my mind so much, I really do want to cross-dress, and it would be amazing if I could take it all the way. Sigh... problem is that I've been trying to tell my parents (But bricking it before I could get a word out :<) about me wanting to be TS/a crossdresser but I just get so panicked, I mean I've come to the point where stress meets pain - that bad. On top of that, I don't really look like a woman, my face is... a little feminine but my body is masculine, strong build with broad shoulders, let myself get lazy a couple of months back and I've gained weight which sucks, but that can be sorted, one thing is I don't really have any way of ordering clothes off-the-bat, I don't have any income and I rarely use my debit card (But hopefully I will sort this out soon.) and I can't get deliveries because my parents are bloody nosy-parkers and I'll never be able to crossdress in peace! >.< Don't even know why I want to be a transsexual, it just came to me and never went away... I want to crossdress, I want to be able to do what you darlings have been able to do, I want to be that girl I see as what I want to be, I want to be Andrea instead of Andre x) What do you lovelies think I should do?
Well sweetie if you'd like to talk to someone feel free to add me on steam ^_^
FtM guys tend to be ignored in the trans community. I'm not just talking about the one instance here.
And yet it's FtM transgendered people who are often depicted in the media for drama, MtF is more often than not played for comedy.
FtM guys tend to be ignored in the trans community. I'm not just talking about the one instance here.
You've clearly never been to Tumblr, trans guys even post stuff in the MtF tag despite being asked to stop. :v:
And yet it's FtM transgendered people who are often depicted in the media for drama, MtF is more often than not played for comedy.
I've yet to ever see a negative portrayal of trans men, it's always handled seriously, if not respectfully. Evidently it never occured to him I'm completely open about being Trans.
I thought this belonged here.
And yet it's FtM transgendered people who are often depicted in the media for drama, MtF is more often than not played for comedy.
I can't recall a single instance where I've seen a trans anything portrayed positively in Western popular media (barring Boys Don't Cry). The media treats MtF people like they're some kind of predator, yes, but it treats FtM people like they don't even exist. Regardless, I was talking about within the trans community, not popular media. FtM guys are often completely disregarded even in the group that is supposed to be centered around them, and that isn't right.
FtMs aren't as well known because (this is from what I've seen, I may well be wrong!) they aren't as common. And, at least in American culture, being a tomboy is a lot more socially acceptable than being whatever the equivalent for that is for a guy. (I'd assume tomguy or something like that but I don't think that's right.)
Closest I found was Sissy.
Closest I found was Sissy.
thats what i would image as an insult for guys who act feminine or a sexual term for guys who get off by acting feminine [editline]4th December 2012[/editline] oops i didnt read properly ignore me
It's funny because I'm a transgender tomboy, I guess I would be a man if I didn't have such a wholesome desire to be a woman. Also my girlfriend and I talked about it lots and we eventually concluded that I'm better just crossdressing while I'm young, then settle into the daddy role as I age. I can be content with that!
Closest I found was Sissy.
From what I've found "Sissy" is an insult, they usually prefer to be called "Femboys"

I usually see quite the opposite. Especially on Reddit and Tumblr.
Honestly I only ever see transguys in a positive light in the media while transwomen are a joke. :/
Seriously this. Even Two and a Half Men portrayed the Trans guy in a positive light for the most part.
its not ignored by the community, its ignored by everyone else because they never hear about them
That feeling when you put on that wonderful jacket and then once you take it off the day becomes pretty lame
Finally, after some struggle with the prescriptions, I got my meds... It also seems that my hysteria and fury in between the wait times triggered some bad judgement by me, making me get mad at my psychiatrist, which I feel ashamed of now (though I never expressed it towards him so that's good). What surprised me even more is that since he is a busy person and the fact that things struggled from their part, he actually gave me his private number in case something else might come along, so that I won't have to wait one week minimum after requesting an appointment. As for now, I can't keep myself from laughing like a maniac since I finally have it! Wuup wuup!
ftm i never hear about lol [editline]4th December 2012[/editline]
That feeling when you put on that wonderful jacket and then once you take it off the day becomes pretty lame
i have a jacket that is literally a bunny [editline]4th December 2012[/editline]
I thought this belonged here. I have a jacket filled with feathers that's also designed to make your figure stand out (hell it makes even me look like I have an hourglass)
So I'm getting my hair cut but I don't know what to do with it, any ideas, its past my shoulders and really thick, I would like it to be relatively boyish. also I think I have to tell my parents about being trans-gendered I'm starting to feel depressed.
Honestly I only ever see transguys in a positive light in the media while transwomen are a joke. :/
Some news story a few years back here about some transguy and his general transition etc. and everyone is like "OMG YOU'RE SO HEROIC GOING THROUGH THIS" and I got kinda sad cause there was some issue with a transwomen not too long before being abused/bullied or something (They were both under 20 so presumably in school/college/work etc.) yet they completely ignored the transwoman with actual issues with transitioning to talk to the transguy who had literally 0 issues to speak of (Seriously they said nothing but how supportive everyone was being and they got meds etc, which don't get me wrong is great) but because the transguy was less of a common thing, the news reported on that instead of the issue where someone is being mistreated or abused for being trans. Like, what the hell.

Wuup wuup!
Happy for you hon~ Also I thought I read somewhere that Transwomen are about 1/10000 while Transmen are about 1/35000-50000.
Also I thought I read somewhere that Transwomen are about 1/10000 while Transmen are about 1/35000-50000.
I would be interested in finding out why that is, like the mentality behind it or such.
i understood its genetically just more complicated to end up being a transguy than a transgirl so its more likely to be a transgirl
Do you guys not remember the whole "pregnant man" debacle? The way the media handled that story was almost sickening, but that's beside the point. Everyone (and I mean everyone) treated that story as if it was about an MtF girl giving birth. This is because transmen are virtually non-existant in the eyes of the public, and that's a huge problem. Tumblr and Reddit are not representative of the real world or the whole community. The fact is, the trans movement is centered around transwomen, and not overall trans issues. FtM people are starting to come out of the woodwork, but there's still a lot of ground to cover. The media does not treat them better than transwomen - it treats them like they're just confused girls if it even gives them attention at all.
Maybe because we're exposed to more estrogen than we are testosterone in our environment or something like that. EDIT: http://www.cracked.com/article_20133_5-reasons-modern-life-driving-manliness-to-extinction.html Maybe these reasons as well.
i dont know if i said it but i think its been working better since we had a discussion about splitting the thread and im glad it worked without doing that :3
Splitting the thread? Did I miss something?
