I did this, book sold 3 copies I didn't even get a royalty check
Dumbass here forgot to set his google doc to share all. Eitherway, it is now.
Here's another link just in case I need one\
keep in note that the stories are very disjointed, but the first section is in the right place

I glanced through it a bit and I could only think of the changeling in SS13.

Well, if anyone asks tell them you are a published author and leave that bit out.
Well, if anyone asks tell them you are a published author and leave that bit out.
I do, I just wish I had written something better :P
Apparently, at this rate I should finish around July 6. Hmm.
I'm gonna have to write shitloads tomorrow.
I'm participating, but I started a bit slow. I've tried this twice and failed each. Extensive plot planning I'm hoping will boost me this year.
Thought heavily about doing this for the last three years, never followed through. I'm thinking I might as well stop being such a vagina and just do it, but damn that's a lot of typing and I can never seem to actually settle on an idea, or plot, or really anything besides the desire to write. Plus I've missed the first 3 days, so I'm going to have to really champ this out if I want to have any hope.
Well, I'll try to start tomorrow and see if I can muster the will, it'd be great to actually start-to-finish write something even moderately not totally awful.
Managed to up my estimated finish time to around May, with 1005 words. The working title is O Quantum Friend, which I kind of like, but doesn't really reflect the tone and theme of the novel too well. It's also not really anything to do with quantum physics. It's kind of science fiction-y, I guess, but more science-fantasy, or perhaps even just fantasy on its own.
Also, I added both you guys who added me as a buddy.
This is what I have so far, nowhere near the 5000 I needed.
Still...I like it, and I guess that's what matters. Scrivner is a fantastic product, I tell you.
It all started with obnoxious ringing at two in the morning. Could've been the alarm, reaching my arm to slap it. Fate is quite a fickle thing. How a small mishap such as hitting the answering button on the Televideo instead ended an entire planet. But that's another can of spacerock worms. Oh my, the blood-curdling shrillness of my boss's voice was enough to scar a child for life, imagine what happens to a grown man this early.
Eh, not quite 1960s 2012, but getting close. Needs more houskeeping robots.
I am a very slow writer. It would take me three or four days to write and edit a 5000 word story to a degree I felt happy enough to show, and the amount of time I spend editing increases exponentially as the story gets longer. The reason I could never write a novel is because I can never leave "well enough" alone. Hell, I can't hardly make a post on Facepunch without editing it half a dozen times.
[editline]/[/editline]
For instance, I edited this post, because I realize I used the phrase "three or four" two times in one paragraph! Sloppy redundancies, shameful display. I'll be in the Chastisement Chamber, thinking about my actions.
[editline]/[/editline]
Whoops, had to fix my punctuation.
[editline]/[/editline]
Had to capitalize "Chastisement Chamber," because it is a unique and important place, and therefore a proper noun. It's not as if I have multiple chastisement chambers, after all. It's not a chastisement chamber, it's the Chastisement Chamber. Just the one.

My previous two have managed to have so many spelling errors word refused to display them.

I'm hoping to get there soon with my current novel.

Also, listen to fast paced music and you (or at least I do) type quicker, with the rhythm.
Everyone should read 'No Plot? No Problem!' immediately. It will help those who feel they will get stuck at some point in the month

Typing isn't the problem. I can type faster than I talk. The issue comes from being able to see what I've written, and then saying, "no, no, no. I definitely could have said that better."
And there's seriously no way I could write with music going--or at least not music with any kind of lyrics. I wrote one short story while listening to some fast electronicy song, but when I read it afterwards I realized it was basically just a bunch of stolen bits from other places! It was kind of neat, but not very original at all.
My ~creative flow~ comes in spurts and sputters, about eight hundred words at a time, and if its interrupted I just raspberry out.
Starting stories is also a weakness of mine. I'll typically jump in somewhere shortly after the beginning, and then come back and write it later.

T'was generic advise. Although in Nano you complete the 50k then edit it.

Also, I just walked into town for supplies so I can finish it now. It was cold, so now my fingers are quite numb. That backfired.
[editline]4th November 2012[/editline]
3 more sprints and I am done. First on is 3,000 in 35 minutes.
I'll give this a go. I've always been best in my class when it comes to Creative Writing, though that's generally short stories but I'll see if I can put my ability into a longer novel.
Edit: Actually, maybe I could write 50 1000-2000 word stories, if that would work? I would feel a lot more comfortable doing that
Sweet, it's back. Totally gonna do this one more time, since it was assigned to me in Writing.

Yes, it's fine. My brother is doing 30,000 (young writer's program allows you to have lower than 50,000 targets because he's 11) and it's a diary over 7 years one for every day and the date is three or 4 words so his novel will be 30-40% date.

I just hit 45,307. Nearly there.

Not until the 24th

Time for the next 3k
Neonpie, did you actually start on the 1st November? Because I'm having a hard time believing that you wrote that much in four days.

Trust me, I did. Seriously. I just wrote 3,000 in about 35 minutes. It is holidays so I could have neither days doing it. Ask anyone who knows me and they will confirm I can do it and will. And, if you need any more proof, i only have 4 days of my scrivener trial used and it is all written in scrivener. wordcount 48422
[editline]4th November 2012[/editline]
Done.
I'm kind of doing this although I'm not much of a writer. I've only got 200 words so far (hence kind of doing this).

Good luck! You'll find if you commit to it now and get a bit done, you will find yourself unable to justify giving up. Who wants three quarters of a novel?
How do I motivation?
How do I motivation?
Tell as many people as possible that you WILL do it. Make bets on it. writeordie.com.
Tell as many people as possible that you WILL do it. Make bets on it. writeordie.com.
But I'm a world-class slacker! I make a reasonable estimation that not even that will help me. Besides, not a very... inspiring way to motivate someone, might as well have someone with a tazer by my computer.

Well, if you have £50 on making it, losing that £50 is going to motivate you (it is unlikely one person will bet you £50, but 10 people might bet you £5)

Nope, not even money would motivate me.

Sorry, I'll stop now and find my own way.
an update on my novel about the hobo getting sent back in time.
essentially, it's going to be about a gang of post-apocalyptic scavengers that get sent back in time to nazi germany in an alternative timeline where germany won world war II and created nuclear bombs early and then a big nuclear disaster happened in america and turned into a wasteland. the scavengers find this out at one point upon after getting sent back in time so then it all leads up to the final surviving hobo shooting hitler in the head making america what it is today.
