That's a shame, I thought it was kinda cute. I'm a sucker for vintage records and music and all that jazz (literally).

they did one before that got some pretty hilarious results

My favorite part was when they accidentally lit the table on fire and they both said, "oh shit."
Shoot, what's that song that plays at the end? We played it in my high school band but I can't think of the name.
A friend of mine brought one of his mother's near/dear vinyls back in HS for a class project. Some asshat thought it was a frisbee because it was green and thus threw it.
It shattered against the wall because some dunce thought it was a fucking frisbee.
being a vinyl fan this is painful
the humanity of it all!

It's not like he torched anything important. Just a shitty turntable and a mediocre record.

I like how as they warp the record you can hear the needle bouncing between the left and right channels

^ This is an example of when your fandom for a form of media storage gets too crazy. You're not cringing for the material - just the fact that it's vinyl? Seriously?

he's cringing because vinyls are fragile and tend to cost a fair bit most of the time

Sarcasm must be a lost art. oh, and what does "you're not cringing for the material - just the fact it's vinyl" mean? I'm not cringing outright necessarily, but I really find lost pieces of mundane, everyday life interesting, so I don't particularly enjoy seeing a record as old as that get ruined. This is not to say I hate it or find how the sound warps uninteresting, because it's actually really cool. It's a ying-yang/catch 22 effect. Want a neat record warp? You'll have to ruin a record.
Shame they couldn't do it to this, though.

Not everything that's old is valuable. Why are you putting value into something admittedly old and mundane? And it's not like it was the only one in existence - it's on sale for $5 on eBay.
Vinyls sound isn't that hard to duplicate anymore either, both in terms of final mastering and the FX chain applied to instruments. Or just get lazy, roll off super highs and boost mids add some grain and distortion bam vinyl
I do like the art and covers though, those are much nester. Physical media is cool, wish it got used more
i wonder how cheap those turntables were that they even destroyed two of them
i wonder how cheap those turntables were that they even destroyed two of them
There's a destination a little up the road you can get them for pretty cheap.
i wonder how cheap those turntables were that they even destroyed two of them
Jensen and Crosley are two bottom of the barrel brands that aren't worth anything that sound really bad and will ruin your records. Looks like the one they used is about $40.

holy shit its not about monetary value
its a niche, an interest, a way of killing time and learning about old and forgotten things.
the poem Beowulf is, at first glance, a uselessly long "poem" about some guy who kicks monsters to high heaven but that would be missing the point.
A manual hand drill or wood planer is also an increasingly useless thing, but its a neat lost art. Yet a basic one is $9.99.

I dunno where you're getting this from. Vinyl records are dirt fucking cheap. Records are only expensive if they're rare or highly sought-after, and the one in the OP is certainly neither.

If there was only one copy of it in existence, I'd say you had a point, but that isn't the case.

i don't collect vinyls or anything, i've just noticed vinyls tend to cost a lot more than CDs

If you're buying new sure, but used, especially junk like this birthday record, is really cheap, like my local record store has thousands of dollar albums.

Freshly pressed and still in cellophane, perhaps. After it's been played more than once, the value sinks a lot. I've seen NM (near mint) CDs sell for significantly more than the equivalent NM vinyl.

NM still sells for around 20 dollars.
NM is the default for opened but mostly unplayed vinyl. VG is when the price tanks.

It entirely depends on the record being sold.
It entirely depends on the record being sold.
I was assuming it was a good record you meant by NM CD vs LP, crap records are the same as crap CD's.
5 bucks NM, VG 1 dollar bin, free at the front door if just G - probably going to be melted into a bowl or nailed to the wall of a tween.
