I would assume that through editing, they made the pit seem deeper then it really is. I highly doubt he was able to hold in that much CO2 for over 4 minutes underwater.
Really? The location is Dean's Blue Hole on Long Island in the Bahamas, it has a depth of more than 650 feet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean's_Blue_Hole Check it out, it explains everything that you guys are asking about.
I have a strong urge to do this. The only thing I would not want to do is not have an oxygen tank. I'd be so worried about running out of breath that I would simply not do it. Otherwise I would happily jump into a black hole (as long as somebody at least told me it was safe).
No you wouldn't. Pussy. [editline]01:41AM[/editline] I would, even if it wasn't safe... I'm a fucking studster. [editline]01:41AM[/editline] :smug:
the black void is actually just BP oil.
Why is it I was expecting the Kraken to come out of the darkness and do terrifying things to that man? [editline]06:55PM[/editline]
the black void is actually just BP oil.
Avatar fits the style of humor.
That is completely real. The guy is a world champion free diver, I've heard of him before. It was filmed entirely while he held his breath, no help from the cameraman free diver. Also song: Archive - You make me feel
The water pressure down there would be intense.
It'd be too much to handle.
It'd be too much to handle.
No it wouldn't. That guy has done free dives to over 100 meters depth.
This stuff scares the piss outta me I wonder what kind of mythology exists of these things
so really none of you got that this is clearly a sony advert? that means they were given enough of a budget to allow a LOT of takes and a LOT of video editing
It's fake He's wearing a wetsuit, and no weightbelt...Just one lead weight. That's almost the same as just being in shorts... That single weight is definitely fighting the wetsuit to float... and he's just standing there under water... You wouldn't be able to do that, a full body wet suit is almost the same as a life jacket
Whoever rated this dumb has obviously never worn a wetsuit by itself in the water before... a Human with Air in his lungs is going to float, especially with a wet suit on, and a single 8-10 pound weight isn't going to make you sink, even less in Salt water
they most likely had him shoot 20 seconds going from A-B, take in oxygen, film it again from another angle, take in oxygen, film it again from a third angle, and do this for the whole clip, and then slow it down (looks like it's at 75% speed. [editline]12:44AM[/editline]
Whoever rated this dumb has obviously never worn a wetsuit by itself in the water before
or they rated that dumb because it's stating the obvious

The fact that he holds his breath while sinking into a pitch black void with increasing pressure just makes me call bullshit, the decreasing temperature and increasing pressure would make you lose your breath.
That is a type of atoll, formed from bomb tests.
Erm, no it isn't, what are you talking about.
The fact that he holds his breath while sinking into a pitch black void with increasing pressure just makes me call bullshit, the decreasing temperature and increasing pressure would make you lose your breath.
People free dive, which is diving without air, down to over 100m. If this guy is a professional free diver then he can probably dive that far without loosing his breath. If he can sink that fast though, it's questionable.

This is why a diver has much more gear on, besides the obvious O2 tanks. [editline]11:12AM[/editline]
That is a type of atoll, formed from bomb tests.
lol, no it's just a coral reef atoll. They form naturally across the pacific.
Mythbusters!
This is free-diving. Free diving is the practise of holding your breath whether it be any other aquatic sport activity even snorkeling - not hard to know. If you stop jumping to conclusions and check his logo on the left arm of the wetsuit, it says the AIDA. International Association for Development of Apnea. They govern the free-diving world championships. The person in the video is Guillaume Nery. He specializes in CONSTANT WEIGHT free diving and previously set the world record in 2008 at yes the same place, LONG ISLAND IN THE BAHAMAS. Not only does he constant weight where i think you usually have a rope here, he does constant weight without fins which is the most challenging of all free dives because of the effort to swim without assistance (even though he climbed out in the vid). [editline]08:53PM[/editline] World class free divers can typically hold their breath at depths up to 213 meters and for over 4 minutes. The world record now is 120m at deans blue hole in a time of 4:28 minutes although the hole itself is 202m deep so i don't know.
so really none of you got that this is clearly a sony advert?
It does appear to be edited, but Guillaume Nery is a world class free diver, and as such he is sponsored. That would explain the Sony Ericsson and Ball Watches logos on his suit. So it's not necessarily an advert.
