They should have called it Kung fu kid instead
They were going to, but then decided that if they did, people wouldn't know it was a Karate Kid remake.
I'd like to know how some movie executives get their jobs.
looks like the boondocks in china
I haven't seen it, and personally I do not want to. AT ALL. :P
I was expecting everyone to bag the shit out of it. I may go and see it now.

In the movie he does even more cringe-worthy stuff.
His mother said that she didn't want to see him get hurt. Then she was clapping and cheering for him when he was fighting and getting his ass kicked?
Saw it today, wasnt as bad as i thought it was gonna be. The girl that plays Meiying is pretty cute too so thats a plus although it doesnt help that i got that there Yellowfever :D

She's like, 12.
This movie's pretty great, surprisingly. Jackie Chan was excellent, as was Jaden Smith. I heard everyone did their own stunts, too. Which is incredibly awesome, all things considered.
Had my doubts, but I was NOT disappointed.

err so? all i said was that she was cute and that i have a thing for Asian women nothing more.
Surprisingly awesome. I think that's the first time I've ever seen Jackie Chan cry...

Sometimes placing two statements too close to each other gives a wrong, wrong impression.
Was kind of forced to see this, but I ended up being surprised by how much I liked it. It's hard to explain but, well of course the movie isn't perfect but it's certainly one of the better films I've seen in a long time.
< Didn't see the original Karate Kid, doesn't need to
Just watched this earlier today, loved it. I never saw the first version, but I really enjoyed this one.
Not bad, good remake of the original.
Yeah it has a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes so is it really not that bad?
Kung Fu Kid sounds like a bad movie just because they don't know the difference between two completely different martial art forms. Kung-fu is not Karate. I will not watch this movie. The trailer already has over a dozen plot holes.

They pointed that out, In one of the parts the kid is like, I want to learn kung fu! But then his mom says that he shouldn't take karate and then he corrects her by saying it was kung fu. Meaning the writers were obviously aware of the difference, which makes me wonder why it kept the name Karate Kid.
Arg I have so much hate for this movie. First of all its Karate not KUNG FU he is supposed to learn. AND they dont let non-nationals live in China...
I should watch the movie to learn more about how full of stupid it is but eh... I've heard from people it is good but those people hated the original Karate Kids.
so THE WHOLE SMIITH family are involved the parents are producers and jayden actor
AND A NEW STORY,NEW CHARCTERS and new stuff its gonna be but not as good as the orignal it should NOT be called the Karate Kid
I like this movie. In my opinion, it's better than the classic one.
The UK/US got the Karate Kid name, everyone else got the Kung-Fu Kid name. It's because it's the spiritual predecessor to the original series. Also in some aspects it was better than the original but the absence of Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi(rest in peace) ruins that completely.
They should've at least had a cameo with Ralph Macchio and played "you're the best" during the montage. The cobra-kick was way more badass than the crane kick too.

I watched this last night, it wasn't that good.
If you wanna see a karate kid remake then watch Never Back Down.
I saw this today. The main story is almost exactly the same as the original, he even gets his leg hurt at the championship and has some magic stuff to heal him, then kicks the other person in the face, but I liked it a lot more than the first one. It has a lot more emotion to it, I almost cried.
Well this isn´t karate kid, this was.........Kong Fu Kid or Extreminator Kid, the movie is good but not great! I believe that the top5 blockbusters of this summer are:
1º Inception (It´s going to be awsome)
2º Toy Story 3 (This suprised me)
3º The A-Team (Hell of an non stoping action/comedy movie, very good this suprised me allot)
4º Predactors (I didn´t see yet, but seems to be good)
5º Karate Kid (It was good)
