Awesome review! Have you read the recent arc they did with Deadpool rescuing an undead princess [sp]and falling in love with her?[/sp] I liked it, and Shikrah is a nice foil for Deadpool. [sp]Plus, I actually felt like there was some genuine romance between them, which is always a plus.[/sp]
That's Soul Mates isn't it? I saw it in the store but I couldn't afford to get it. Someday perhaps!
Is the comic sequel of The Thing any good?
lol no, not by a long shot. for starters, somebody gets infected when touching a frozen thing while wearing gloves. second you have this, which is an infected childs chasing after mac. then there's a super-thing that's pretty much a giant beetle, which i don't have a picture of. [editline]12th May 2014[/editline] found it [editline]12th May 2014[/editline] and then there's this
Is the comic sequel of The Thing any good?
pretty much any sequel to the thing (this and the game) has been terrible
pretty much any sequel to the thing (this and the game) has been terrible
the game was good. there were plans on making a tv miniseries that would be a sequel to 1982 the thing, but it was scrapped before filming. you can read the scripts here. http://www.outpost31.com/movie/script.html
If you guys are reading recent X-Men comics, then you should know they did something where Cyclops became a mutants right terrorist (?) who's pretty much seen as a bad guy by the good guys and who killed Xavier. I don't understand where that came from, and quite frankly, I'm not the tiniest bit interested in finding out, because this 'evil terrorist' Cyclops is just... boring. And I'm not the only one who thinks like this. Because Hank McCoy brought the original X-Men to the future (don't ask), and the original Cyclops thinks just like that. Oh, yeah, Cyclops #1, pretty good. Young Cyclops is far more interesting than old Cyclops. [editline]13th May 2014[/editline] Another thing I gotta recommend is the new Moon Knight series. It's being written by Warren Ellis of Transmetropolitan fame, and that's pretty much all I need to say.
I'm currently in the development of a action-adventure/comedy comic series that covers different settings (though it is a unified sci-fi setting). As I plan to begin writing its second season, I need to find some pointers and references, so I could improve on the season's quality. The second season will move into space (and a little bit of western), and I am looking for some comics that mainly deals with a space adventure, espionage, action scenes, and/or strong character interaction. I'm leaning a bit towards Guardians of the Galaxy, but I don't know which is the best GotG comic ever (dunno about Legacy). Right now, I am using some references from the Serenity/Firefly comic series. I love how the characters interact with each other in a fun comedic way.
It's not a space adventure, but I'll direct you towards Uncanny Avengers, a very recent books that balances action and character interaction fairly well. As for espionage, definitely the recent Black Widow comic book. I'm trying to think of any space adventure books I'm reading- there's the recent Captain Marvel book, but that only has three issues, there's New Avengers with deals with a lot of otherwordly stuff... drawing a blank, really.
Been getting into comics for a while now but I hardly ever get the chance to go up to the comic book store. That, and, whenever I do, they don't have the next comic in any of the series' I'm reading. I'll have to set up an account with them and ask them to hold specific ones for me. On free comic book day, though, I nabbed the zero issue of a new Batman Beyond Series (i guess basically just to get it out there and sort of advertise it) that's starting up soon called "Future's End", it was pretty awesome and had some really cool, fucked up art. [thumb]http://vanishingpointchronicles.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/futures_end_promo_a_p.jpg[/thumb] I also grabbed a free comic about the Guardians of the Galaxy, and given that movie's coming out eventually I think I wanna read it, it seems pretty cool. Plus, fucking [sp]Venom[/sp] joins them? Fuck yes. Speaking of which, does anyone have any good Spiderman Series' to pick up? I honestly don't know what's going at the moment or what's good, I mostly keep up with DC.
From what I've heard, "Big Time" is a good place to get started with modern Spider-Man. It starts around #648 (about 70 or so issues ago) and gets the ball rolling with the new status quo. If you want to get quickly caught up with what's going on right now, read "The Superior Spider-Man", a 20-something issue series that recently wrapped up. This series briefly replaced "The Amazing Spider-Man" as [sp]Doc Ock took over Peter Parker's mind[/sp] and all sorts of shenanigans ensued. After "Superior" ended, "Amazing" re-launched at number one a few weeks ago. [editline]12th May 2014[/editline] Also "The Superior Foes of Spider-Man" is a great book. It doesn't really directly connect to Spidey himself, but features some great heist action and comedy as a gang of super-criminals attempts to make their way as the new Sinister Six (also, there are only five of them). [editline]12th May 2014[/editline]
The new Ghost Rider actually sounds good as fuck. I guess I know what comic I'm buying next week.
All-New Ghost Rider is really great. The art is crazy and hyper-kinetic (drawn by Tradd Moore of Luther Strode), and the story is captivating with well-written characters. It's only a couple of issues in but I really dig it. [t]http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/085/1/1/all_new_ghost_rider__2_cover_color_by_tradd-d7bpbiv.jpg[/t][t]http://th09.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2014/114/9/b/all_new_ghost_rider_transformation_by_tradd-d7fs7qo.jpg[/t][t]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2014/093/6/7/ghost_rider_1_pages_10_11_by_valstaples-d7cy7p5.jpg[/t][t]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/095/f/a/ghost_rider_2_page_3_by_valstaples-d7d4mef.jpg[/t] I just wish Marvel didn't make so many of their books $3.99 - I don't need the digital codes, if they were $2.99 I could squeeze some more on my pull list. I'm thinking of cutting back on my single-issue purchases and trade-waiting more often. It's a bit hit-and-miss on characterization, but there are some fun bits (Han and Chewie having run-ins with bounty hunters, Luke and Wedge on infiltration). Carlos D'Anda (Bionicle, Arkham games) draws fantastic sci-fi machines and architecture. [t]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S4vcgHQs95I/UT771pYMgfI/AAAAAAAB09g/ZCT0OlT2C_4/s400/starwars31.jpg[/t][t]http://media.insidepulse.com/zones/insidepulse/uploads/2013/01/star-wars-1a.png[/t][t]http://www.unwinnable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Star-Wars-1-Leia.jpg[/t] Justice League 3000 is also good sci-fi action-comedy with great character interaction. In the far future, the Justice League is cloned to save the day - but these guys aren't exactly the Justice League we're used to. Abrasive, arrogant, and volatile, it's fun to see altered versions of iconic characters as they play off each other.
That's Soul Mates isn't it? I saw it in the store but I couldn't afford to get it. Someday perhaps!
No, it's called "Deadpool: The Gauntlet", and it's only availiable online for now. It's around 12 issues long, aand goes after the events in Deadpool #25.
Also I'm currently reading [t]http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_large/6/67663/3726663-01.jpg[/t] And so far it's really great.
So someone rated this funny. Lemmie explain what this is anything but funny. Essentially, it's a psychological horror where the Sub Mariner is the monster. (I'm serious) You actually don't know if he exists or everybody is going stir crazy in the submarine they're trapped in. He's built up as a legend sailors who work in submarines tell. He guards Atlantis and kills the fuck out of anybody who seeks the sunken city. I haven't finished it, but at the point I'm at, off screen, he supposedly [sp]brutally murdered, like mutilated and tore apart, the crew of an under seas base.[/sp] He isn't some silly dude with wings on his feet and a speedo, no sir, you do NOT fuck with Namor in this comic. So far, I haven't seen Namor except for one small glimpse, and that was only his hands and faint glowing eyes outside of the sub in the dark depths of the sea. I wish he wasn't on the cover, there is a fuck load of mystery surrounding him in this, and it's actually very unsettling. Also the art work is incredible: [t]http://michaelmay.us/08blog/11/1112_smdepths2watcher.jpg[/t][t]https://dcomixologyssl.sslcs.cdngc.net/i/1811/50587/1e8a6ed5d5baed52117bf4f590adbe08.jpg?h=e860b0729d49db0b209fb30c2be96a64[/t] This is easily one of my favorite comics at this point. [editline]butts[/editline] So I just finished The Depths. The pacing is a bit odd at the end but Jesus Christ was that a good read. The title character makes almost no appearances yet his presence is felt, watching, waiting. That shit was gripping and engaginging as all hell. Get this book if you can, you will not be dissapointed.

A good half of Amazing Spider-Man #1 deals directly with the aftermath of Superior Spider-Man, though
Also it's not that great. Black Cat is now a crazy revenge villain because Spock punched her in the face and sent her to jail. So now she's gonna destroy Peter's life. Seriously, there's a frame where she's holding a spider and is like, "NO... I WON'T KILL HIM. CATS JUST BAT SPIDERS AROUND FOR A BIT." It was clever when she said it in Spectacular Spider-Man, but here she might as well be twirling a mustache. If you want good Spider-Man, buy trades. Ultimate, Marvel Adventures, Kraven's Last Hunt, stuff like that.
i don't have the full comic myself but The Killing Joke gets me sad for the Joker
A good half of Amazing Spider-Man #1 deals directly with the aftermath of Superior Spider-Man, though
You can understand it pretty well, and it does have the added bonus that you feel just like Peter, dealing with the aftermath of events you haven't witnessed.
I just finished reading The Annihilators entirely for the Rocket Raccoon and Groot story in the second half of them, and I think the Rocket Raccoon and Groot spinoff might be my favorite comic I've read so far. I really dig light hearted stuff so it's really up my street, and the art style really helps back up that light hearted tone. I really wish they made more of that series.
Let's have a look at an abjectly awful comic instead! This right here, Mark Millars Nemesis is awful. It's ridiculously edgy, so much so that I cut my finger on the paper as I picked it up. If you want 10 years of just-as-planned, self-servicing plot twists and forced cervix collapses then look no further than Nemesis.

Which can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Rocket-Raccoon-Guardian-Keystone-Quadrant/dp/0785155279 and I recommend the shit out of it.
