I'm not sure if Heroclix belong in here, but I won a Larfleeze. [t]http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w516/Dvdgg/larfleeze_zps81b1e333.jpg[/t] Katatonic must have raided his local Tesco for the exclusive Rocket Racoon chase figure.
The what
[t]https://criticalmissives.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/20140704-195829-71909952.jpg[/t] Well, since you seem to like GotG, and with the upcoming Heroclix sets for both the movie and comics, I thought you might be interested in them. But you must already have much better figures if that's what you are looking for. Heroclix figures are usually good for the size they are, but the paintjob can be terrible.
Has anyone here read the first issue of the Rocket Raccoon mini-series? I really enjoyed it. Also, the Figment comic is way better than it should be.
Has anyone here read the first issue of the Rocket Raccoon mini-series? I really enjoyed it.
It was okay. I'm not much of a fan of the new not-a-raccoon, womanizing, psychopath Rocket. Also no Rocket comic can ever live up to this amazing shit: [t]http://x.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/2/b0/4bb5311b41656/detail.jpg[/t] Also the Legendary Star-Lord #1 was really good until the very end. I've finally figured out how I view comic book stories (until the industry improves) if I try to think of them as one long canon. I see them as basically fan fiction that only loosely represent the "real" characters and major events, which is why Superman and others can behaive differently and have different abilities between writers and through the ages. Or maybe I'm just thinking to much about something I don't much care for. Because I really do love superheroes, it's just I hate the poor treatment they can recieve at the hands of terrible writers and outdated cultural values.
I have a Frank Miller Daredevil omnibus sitting next to me on the bookshelf. Kind of makes me sad because I really want to read it, but I refuse to do so because I haven't read all the previous Daredevil issues. The thing is, Marvel hasn't been very good reprinting DD either in graphic novel form or digital.
Reminder: This comes out August 5th. If you don't buy it you are a loser and very lame.

^i've actually had the pleasure of reading all those except the pre-annihilators. did bendis destroy the marvel universe after AvX or what?
did bendis destroy the marvel universe after AvX or what?
I could write multiple essays on how much current GotG fucked up, much less all of 04-11 cosmic. I might actually do that one day. That is how fucking pissed I am. [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] Fuck it. I'm going to write a massive ass thing about how much Star-Lord got wrecked. Just Star-Lord. I goddamn guarantee this shit is going to go over 2,500 words.
believe it or not, marvel actually wrote this intentionally. [t]http://i.imgur.com/KtfnMu0.jpg[/t] [editline]17th July 2014[/editline] also this

Sorry for the double post but https://www.comixology.com/Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Sale/page/2906?tid=B140801001_Marvel_Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_2008_Sale All the Guardians of the Galaxy comics are only a dollar until the 3rd. This site also has a very nice reader app for iOS and (I think) android devices. These are the best 25 issues you will ever read. Go get them guys!
When you guys read comic book characters, do you hear them in a certain voice? Like when I read Spiderman, I either hear hims as Christopher Daniel Barnes from the 90s Spiderman cartoon or as Jeremy Shada from Adventure Time. When I read Batman, I hear him as Kevin Conroy. And when I hear Wolverine, well I don't hear anyone's particular voice. I mostly just imagine the voice of some short guy gargling bleach for the past ten years and say "Hey Bub!"
Wolverine will always be Steve Blum. It's too perfect a voice. Spider-Man, for me, alternates between Josh Keaton and Barnes. JJJ is Darran Norris from Spectacular. I know JK Simmons was perfect, but Norris sounds so much better on the page. Sometimes, for fun, if there's a character that doesn't have a "definitive voice", I'll read them in the voice of a famous actor (or another character from a different company). Like, I usually read Thanos as a mix between Kevin Michael Richardson and Clancy Brown. Or in the recent New52 Batman storyline, I read Bruce Wayne's uncle as Adam West. Worked surprisingly well.
Wednesday comic book day! What'd you guys get? [t]http://i.imgur.com/HXslIaH.jpg[/t]
anyone reading the original sin marvel event? is it good?
I think it's good, at least it is interesting. All issues end with a story-twisting cliffhanger, butthe middle parts aren't that memorable. You get some weird team-ups, old rarely used foes and a bunch of spin-offs. You can easily skip the iron-man vs the hulk if you aren't interested in hulk's story, the thor & loki one is about a long lost sister you should already now about if you follow the bendis guardians, and original sins are a bunch of short stories about marvel characters not directly related to the main event.
Remember that time when Star-Lord had to stop an entire war and his only plan was to politely ask? ^nice. gave me some hype after taking a long break from reading marvel.
So I recently went to Leeds in the UK because Bryan Lee O'Malley was doing a signing of his new book. I wandered to the site of the Traveling Man he was going to be at and decided to go buy comics elsewhere until I wanted to start queuing. I wandered to my favorite local shop 'OK Comics' which has won loads of awards and is probably one of the best shops in the country. When I wandered in I was greeted by the guy behind the counter and noticed the whole place was pretty empty, just two people working and a guy flicking through the Scott Pilgrim books. I wander to the corner where they store the indie/single release books and start flicking through some stuff, eventually picking up 'Wonton Soup' which I would recommend to anyone. I glance around and notice the guy isn't flicking through the books but actually writing in them (bare in mind I don't really know what most comic book artists look like) and realize it's actually Bryan Lee O'Malley who had made an unscheduled appearance in the store to sign their entire stock of his comics. At this point I felt really awkward, standing behind him waiting to pay he asks "sorry, am I in the way" and moves to the side when the guy behind the counter says "Oh, Ben is a massive fan of your stuff" at which point I mustered up the courage to ask for a photo. I was so hyped after it happened, then went to the signing anyway to get my books signed. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JHg8JZq.jpg[/img_thumb] If you guys aren't reading Bandette, you should be.
The new Punisher series is fucking awesome. To sum it up in one phrase, "out of the frying pan, into the fire".
Marvel has some real nice Anti-Bullying variant covers for Anti-Bullying month. Such a good art style.
