As said before, get rid of all the posters, action figures, childish things.
The furniture you have is absolutely horrid. Get some more contemporary items.
That carpet has to go, get in some lightly colored wood flooring, or a white or black carpet.
Paint all of the molding and doors white. Wood molding/doors is bleh.
Get rid of those curtains and but up some horizontal blinds.
Paint all the walls the color of your choice, the bolder the better.
That light fixture should be replaced with something more contemporary.
I recently redid my room, and now it's starting to look like the RP&A offices.

I'd start with painting the room. Either a green like you suggested or a yellow. Also, change the ceiling lamp. Try to get something that hangs down a tiny bit and has four lights (for symmetry :P)
Paint the walls with blood.
And drape some intestines over the furniture while you're at it.

Get posters that are about things YOU like, not the latest movie with Megan Fox as the star. Just... make it all about things that you will like for a LONG time, not thing things that are going to be forgotten in a month.

-Go to IKEA and get some nicer looking furniture, that white coloured stuff looks ugly.
-As you will be removing all your action figures, buy a desk that doesn't have a bookshelf attached to it. Keep it simple.
-Try using a different color for those window drapes, they look really bland, a brighter color would be better.
-Remove those action figures.
