[QUOTE=Toasticle;33050956]So I'll just lose all the fat while wieght lifting?
[editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
what if I take protein powder as well
[editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
and creatine[/QUOTE]
You will likely build a small amount of muscle while also losing a small amount of fat. However, trying to lose a large amount of fat and trying to build a large amount of muscle at the same time is highly inefficient.
This is because any considerable amount of muscle growth requires a caloric surplus. Losing a considerable amount of body fat requires a caloric deficit. As such, trying to achieve both goals at the same time is illogical. However, many beginners will go through a short period where it is possible to build muscle while losing fat with a caloric deficit, however it is nothing significant.
Protein powders are not magic. They are literally just that: powdered forms of different types of protein, typically milk protein. 30g of whey protein powder is not really any different to 30g of protein from a chicken breast. The reason protein powders are popular is because they are convenient ways to get more protein in your diet.
Creatine supplementation is beneficial all around. It rapidly improves strength/neurological function and will have indirect effects on fat loss. It also helps promote muscle growth. This said, not necessary, albeit cheap.
You need to pick one goal and focus on it. I suggest focusing on losing the excess fat first if you are particularly overweight/bothered by it.
First 1plate 5x5 workout, squats. Yeeeeeeeah!
I'd hit craigslist first. Awesome. 200$ for 300 lbs? rain of cum all over my face
Alright I've started my lifestyle change 2 days ago. I've been fat all my life doing nothing but sitting on my fat ass on the computer playing video games and it's about damn time I do something about it. Maybe for cardio you guys can suggest alternatives to running, as I've already been hospitalized 6+ times to excercise-induced asthma. I calculated that I consume about 1500 calories a day. I signed up for Gold's Gym near here. I bought a bike. I'm taking flax oil and multivitamins. One con is the only food thats in my house is white rice, as my mom is asian and its all that we eat. I'm not sure if this is generally healthy, but its all I got.

Thanks for the information guys, you guys are all I got, not having much friends.
White rice is very good for carbs, I would suggest eating it, although I hate it myself...
Have you tried measuring your bodyfat%? You need to fugure out if you should build muscle or burn fat first.
I think i need to burn fat first. I look like fucking ron jeremy

I need a smith machine. I think it's time to join the gym and neglect home-gym as a new years resolution for 2012.
Cum at me for wanting a smith machine. Questions will be answered for a short time windows.

Smith machine?
WHY SEITH WHY?!
smith machine ew
I have come to terms with the machines.
as a really (due to circumstances) serious serious advocate of barbells and dumbbells, which have served me very well, if I want to achieve further sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, I need to use them.
The sheer productivity of being able to squeeze and isolate it (i.e biceps / quadriceps) instead of the regular barbell/dumbbell motion is beyond comprehension. I have not, for at least 2.5 years, have been able to achieve a true isolation movement. I have been using compounds for so long I have acquired rather annoying imbalances. (i.e doing shoulder presses incorporates my massive lats, doing rows incorporates my lats, doing deadlifts incorporates them etc etc etc)
I need to extent my workouts twice as long in order to exhaust my imbalances so I can actually start targeting certain parts of myself. (I barely feel pump in my chest when doing chest) (I barely feel shoulders when I try to do front raises / side due to my overwhelming traps)
so folks, you got a piece of my life. Cherish it and involve yourself in the fortunate discovery you have stumbled upon.
i will remember it 4ever

ok
after thinking i was starting to get stronger, i tried to bench for the first time (for the last month and a bit only used machines due to shitty PT advice) and i only managed 5kg comfortably. the bar by itself was heavy as fuck, giving me the idea that i am a weakling. what i want to ask is how to improve, is it just lift the same weight regularily and then move up or what?
~freeweitznoob~
Move up progressively. At that weight range push ups will probably help a lot too. Generally lower reps for strenght, but what I've observed is that lower reps (3-6) combined with longer reps occasionally (7-14) give far better results.
I just went back to school, and all my school shirts are actually tight on my chest and arms, before the holidays, they were ridiculously loose.
sorry for another question, but can someone suggest exercises for just one arm. my right is much more capable than my left and i need to even them up. dumbell exercises seem like the best choice, but i know nothing.
By the way, thanks maucer, I'll take that onboard.
Preacher curls?

Start doing more isolation / db work.
Supplement with 2-3 sets [depending on the kind of workout ofc] and start with the weaker arm every set.
It's not a magic solution, but it might help
I think since he's just starting, maybe he wants to wait a bit, and it will even itself out?
No it won't, the muscle on my right comes from a few years of working just with the right and now I have lost fat the difference is very noticeable. Whilst the other arm has improved a large amount as I have started going to the gym, it still isn't on par with the right, and this causes my technique when using free weight bars to be stunted toward one side.
Does anyone have any experience with Stripped 5x5? I'm thinking of coming onto that programme after a month or so of SS.

Imbalances don't just fade away. Body works in a compensation sort of way.
How can I make the veins on my left arm as noticeable as on my right one?
hey guys

lower your bf%?
When someone says '1 plate', what do they mean? The largest disc in my gym is 25kg. And there was a post in my gym saying, 1st 1 plate squat today, which is pretty damn easy, so I got a tad confused...
1 plate usually means 45lbs aka 20.5kg
Don't know why, but apparently they don't have 25kg plates in 'murrica or something
I just took creatine for the first time today after workout. Glad I finally got it. I just put a teaspoon of it in my water. Should I try to drink alot of water now gradually? Also, I'm going to boxing in a couple of hours, is it bad that I used creatine before it?

Lol creatine is going to be in your system for a while if your taking it every day, so dont worry.
Just drink a FUCKton more water if your doing a lot of cardio or working out for an extended period.
