I went into a gym for the first time today. Sucks. There were guys in their 40s outrunning me. I last 2 minutes jogging on the treadmill then I'm like a fucking whale gasping for his last breath of air. Fuck asthma, fuck my condition. There was also guys that looked like arny lifting hundreds of pounds.
Run outside. It's more fun, plus people don't know if you've run a minute or an hour.

Just keep working and you'll end up like them. It takes time. That's my mentality at least :o And like shattered said, run outside cuz it's more fun. Listen to some epic music.
Epic music is the key to most cardio, but if you aren't very good at running do some interval running to start. Run for a minute, walk for a minute and a half, keep that up for about 15-20 minutes. As you get better run for more and walk for less, or run less if you are still having trouble. Most treadmills should have a speed interval function so it's a bit easier.
I fucking hate running on treadmills, they are gay as hell. I like to run outside and enjoy nature, plus the small hills and terrain differences are better for working your legs a little, and safer on your shins than treadmills.
Hah, my doctor said he's gonna give me a prescription for 400mg x and 600 mg y painkillers for my heels and i'm supposed to take a gram combined 1-3 times a day. He accidentally gave me a prescription for 1gram x + 600 mg y. Too bad they aren't ones that make you trip balls.
I hate running because I go out of breath after two or three hundred meters. Plus my sides start aching and I feel altogether terrible and thus I stick to walking, sometimes briskly if I'm in a hurry. EDIT: hate is such a strong word, lemme think of a substitute... greatly dislike, yes, that'll do.

It's like that for most things. I don't like weightlifting because my arms are sore and I can only do like 5 lbs. I don't like video games because I get killed a lot. You have to start somewhere, just try running slower for longer, or if do intervals of walking then running. [editline]3rd November 2011[/editline] Also today I lifted weights for the first time in like 6 months, feel like shit. And what happened to Casus?
Casus od'ed on awesomeness and is currently receiving head from Elvis Presley in an underground bomb shelter filled with cocaine and testosterone extract.
so Septimas, how are those ADD meds working for you?
And what happened to Casus?
Casus literally got sick of arguing with retards.
so Septimas, how are those ADD meds working for you?
My parents got me tested and definitely passed it, but they ended up taking me off them because they thought i would abuse them.
What could cause me feeling sick after working out? I dont eat anything substancial before working out (because that actually makes me throw up) but I still feel like shit after going to the gym.
Define shit? Nausea, what?
I always feel great after a good workout. Sometimes makes me fall asleep in the bus :v:

I for example was really, really weak in my legs when I was recovering from Osgood Schlatter Disease and my knees hurt a good amount after every run. I could only run for around 18 minutes at a relatively slow pace, but I just kept working at it and eventually my kness started hurting less and less and now I can run 8 miles without too much trouble and finish under an hour.
I'm happy enough that I walk home from university currently. It's about a 5 km walk and takes me about an hour. Winter's coming (should be here already, grr) so that'll change when the roads get slippery unless some miracle happens and I find that I'm able to walk well enough in my winter shoes to make do.
Bitches don't know about my gogoplata
I've been thinking more and more i'd like to give boxing a try, any advice or experience from fp?
I've been thinking more and more i'd like to give boxing a try, any advice or experience from fp?
boxing is pretty cool. However, I'd recommend Muay Thai or training at an mma gym rather than boxing. What do you want to get out of it? Fighting for sport? Cardio? Self defense?

The trick would be to find something for a complete amateur, this city is either big glossy gyms full of nothing but cycling machines or ghetto warehouses for the crazy locals and navy personel on shore leave :v:.
I just cut my ballsack a little with a razor whilst shaving after working out. OWWWWWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOW Kiss it better seith

I dabble in Muay Thai at the place I train at, and its leaps and bounds more powerful than boxing. Limiting yourself to just fists is dumb imo. After time your legs and shins will become stronger and more flexible. Muay Thai is also much more practical outside the ring, because if you can get one kick off and if the guy doesn't know how to block it you're going to destroy his leg, face, or ribs. But to answer your concern, you really should be worried about that. If you can find a gym then try to go and see if they have some sort of trial or something. Gyms don't expect everyone that walks through their door to be a professional, they get a lot of people with zero experience. And if you're willing to sacrifice striking for grappling.... do Brazilian jiu jitsu, its amazing for competing, cardio and self defense. Just don't sign up for any taekwondo, akido, karate, wing chun etc bullshit.
BJJ will get it so if someone hits you, and gets you on the ground, you can break their arm and win the fight easily. And its just badass. Oh and its just awesome. BJJ with muay thai means you don't really have to worry about anything in a fight.
yes. i also suggest finding a soft place to break someones arm because concrete is a bitch. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] one day, one day someone will come at me bro and i'll get to submit someone for real lmao.
I need a good routine, my lifts aren't going up with strong lifts much anymore, plateaus all over this bitch. Someone please halp me make/find a good routine that contains isolations and compounds. Also: Squated 305 5x5 today.
