throw the 5 lb dummbells out
they are literally useless.
You can do one-legged squats while holding them, but eh. Get heavier ones or do body weight exercises.
5 lb dumbbells? 25$?
Do you live in poverty or something?
I want to get fit but where I live there isn't a gym for at least 50 miles and it's getting a little cold to exercise outdoors.
I went out and bought a little 5 lb dumbbell and got a set of resistance bands for Christmas in an attempt to start a workout routine when I go home (still visiting family 'till after New Year's but I can't even take advantage of the gyms around here, used to have buddies with Planet Fitness memberships that allowed you to bring a friend but they canceled them).
Any tips? If you guys have equipment to recommend under $25 I'd appreciate it. :v:
sell your xbox and some other useless shit you have and get your own gym set up . or dont , im sure they will invent a way for you to shit out the fat so even the laziest of people like you can lose weight

I think stating I'm in West Virginia out in the hills will answer this sufficiently.
not really.
you're going to have to fork over more than 25 dollars if you want to buy anything related to fitness. supply and demand my friend, and the demand is very high, as there are fat horkers everywhere who think there is a magic solution to losing all of 400 pounds they "didn't notice" piled onto them.

I can't disagree with that.
When I have the money or someone feels generous, I'm thinking about investing in an elliptical under $300.
the laziest of people like you
You're hee-larious. I chose to take steps towards toning my body and feeling healthier overall and am seeking advice, that means I'm lazy. :v: Yeah, it took me longer than it should have, but I'm not lazy enough to think I'll look good in a bikini overnight.
Do not ever use the word toning again

Wait, bikini? So you're a chick?

takin steps str8 to that fridge 2. dont wear urself out
@Scientastic
I don't know anything about you or your body, but you definitely need heavier weights. Don't worry about becoming "too big", such a thing takes literally years of dedication and much, much overeating. You can get that crisp bikini look with either BWEs (bodyweight exercises) or weights, it doesn't matter.
Assuming you're just a little chubby, lifting weights while simultaneously eating less calories than you need (aim for around 300kcal deficit; then there aren't severe hunger pangs) will do. If your lifts are progressing alright, you get that "toned" look (please don't use this word while talking about lifting, everyone gets mad. just using it so you know what I mean).
Make sure to eat enough protein. 1.8g of protein per 1kg of bodyweight are enough. Protein type doesn't matter for the beginning.
Have fun !

Here is it 1$ every lbs.
which is why you should just get a gym membership
it's not hard
Yes it is, you have to actually get off your arse and do something!
Yess I hit 5x150kg deadlift. There's a slight curve in my lower back, but the weight is not on the spine. Is it still bad?

Pretty much as it is in this video.
If it's the exact same thing as in the video, then there's no leg drive. Not the worst of forms, but not the best.
Notice how he raises his ass after positioning himself, untightening the back. He's got a strong back, but with higher weights he's gonna break it. This is a sign his legs can't keep up, so it's natural mechanism the body goes through to shorten the distance and make him able to cope with it better.

Deadlift is a full body motion, when you loosen one part the others go loose as well.
Look @53 seconds into the video and stop there.
Keep your back more parallel with the floor so you get more tension in there, protecting your spine. Imagine you are pushing right THROUGH the ground with your heels. You are not pulling something up, you are pushing yourself away from the ground with your legs.
And stop using mixed grip. You want those forearms everyone is mirin' ? Yeh you want them.
It's pretty much exactly the same. I'm trying to use my legs as much as I can, but bar is already scraping and bruising my shins and knees. Maybe I'll record my form next time.
Is it possible to get some sort of mat or something so you don't damage your floor when you drop your weights?
Get rubber weights?

Record. And my shins look like a disaster. Negatives of the trade you're occupying yourself with. Didn't
Also I detract from my previous statement; his legs probably can keep up, it's just a form issue. He stops pushing the heels into the ground. He got it all backwards, going back first, neutralizing the legs completely.

I got ceramic floors to train on, metal plates. So, my advice as an experienced noise-make would be this; get a rubber mat (I'd say heavy duty one, up to 5cm thick would be great. Get some towels, place barbell on them. Lower slowly. I never drop. More grip work.
@Maucer
You have to use your legs to in your deadlift. With the current form in the video, you almost solely use your back to lift the weight. There are quite a few problems with that.
1) You can damage your back when isolating it like that in lift, especially when you start lifting even heavier weights.
2) You wont be able to keep progressing if you don't use your legs to lift. Your back will start to give out at a certain point where the legs can keep progressing.
Just use your legs boy!
Saw a guy with one arm at the gym.
Felt sorry for him not being able to do most of the good stuff (Squats, Bench, etc) and really wanted to go somehow help him to do them...
inb4 guy squats 300 pounds more than you.
You can do squats with no arms at all
seen it with my own eyes
requires a lot of practice though
