Your asking why I neglected legs in an upper body workout? And also, pullups benching and shoulder press are all compound [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] is there a free internet version of that book? or do I have to buy it?
deadlifts are where
This is a hypothetical question: If I'm doing a power clean with bad form will it be doing more bad then good? By bad form I don't mean downright awful form, just poor posture.
deadlifts are where
Nowhere yet. THe problem is, it's awkward because the gym I go to has very little floorspace where I can set a bar down. it's really annoying how they give a huge amount to the machines and a tiny corner to the free weights and dumbbells.
This is a hypothetical question: If I'm doing a power clean with bad form will it be doing more bad then good? You can really hurt yourself on a power clean if you don't have proper form.
Um people still have shit routines "how am my routine" "its gay" "fuck you bitch you dont even know who the fuck are you" guys guys i need help but dont want to click on jaegers super informative thread that already covers 90% of this shit called SHIT YOU NEED TO KNOW [editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
This is a hypothetical question: If I'm doing a power clean with bad form will it be doing more bad then good? The benefit (none besides getting explosive as fuck) does not outweigh the risk of injury
wow jaeger quit blatantly copying me
Well it was a hypothetical question because I haven't started yet. I have a credible friend who has been lifting weights his whole life who is going to be spotting me and criticizing my form. I'm just wondering that if my form were ever to falter (hypothetical, again) would it be doing more harm than good. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] 2.Also if I were ever to decide to get rid of it from my routine, what would be a good replacement workout (if any at all)?
um to answer the question in two parts 1. Not really, you just need to be aware that olympic lifts are typically more prone to fuck ups and injuries than conventional lifts. This being said, one of the most popular lifts (bench press) that everyone does is also one of the most stupid and dangerous, so take that how you will. 2. On what lift? As I said before, the only real tangible benefit from oly lifting is the sheer explosiveness/power you develop (which can be beneficial to several processes that influence hypertrophy). There is some school of thought that oly lifts are superior for hypertrophy due to multiple reasons, but mostly that is anecdotal.
2. On what lift?
You mean the power clean? I just don't want my B days to be less... Intense, if you will, than my A days. If I drop the power clean then is there anything as beneficial I can replace it with to make it as intense as my A workout days? I could just not alternate between workouts and replace the power clean with a deadlift, but will it be too straining to deadlift every workout day of the week?
my advice is to watch some videos on power cleaning form a bunch before you jump into it AND have your seemingly weightlifting savvy friend critique you when you're ready
my advice is to watch some videos on power cleaning form a bunch before you jump into it AND have your seemingly weightlifting savvy friend critique you when you're ready
Well that was my plan but what I (think) I'm getting from Jaeger is that I won't get too many great benefits from the power clean in my workout? [editline]1[/editline] I play football by the way. Thought I might throw that in there, on the topic of explosiveness.
ive read some stuff on several bodybuilders who were lacking development in their legs, and they found out they were simply not working them hard enough, they raised the weights and worked them so hard they could barely stand up after sets (i LOVE that feeling) and they got great results tom platz apparently worked to exhaustion all the time, and did 20 miles on the bicycle machine things right after his sets, results are scaring the fuck out of people when you pull your pants down
why the hell would you want your legs looking like that
Well that was my plan but what I (think) I'm getting from Jaeger is that I won't get too many great benefits from the power clean in my workout? [editline]1[/editline] I play football by the way. Thought I might throw that in there, on the topic of explosiveness.
I don't think he was saying you don't get too many benefits. As I believe he mentioned it's a very explosive exercise. Which I don't know much about football but i believe that is an important aspect of the sport depending on the position
I guess I'll see how it goes tomorrow. If I can get some more information on whether I should keep it in my workout/what I should replace it with then I'll go from there.
Is there a special multi vitamin that I should get if I'm going to start working out or are those one a day mens vitamins good enough? Also any supplements? I'm not looking to bulk up, I want to slim down a bit and tone up a lot. (6'3" 208 lbs) Going to start stronglifts 5x5 alongside my current cardio shite (5 mile run/jog err day plus a bit of cycling if I feel like it). I don't really have a specific diet (I'm going to start paying more attention though), I eat when I'm hungry more or less, I used to eat when I was bored but I've kicked that habit. sound good? I've never been to a gym in my life so I have a lot to learn.
Bleh, I'm starting to hate SL 5x5, Lack of pump, and lack of overall difficulty.
Bleh, I'm starting to hate SL 5x5, Lack of pump, and lack of overall difficulty.
for someone like me who has never picked up a weight in his life would it be fine for a while though? to get me started I guess
I would recommend it yes, but make sure you get the correct form down for all of the exercises. Not only will it help maximize your gains but it will also prevent injuries.
yeah I'm going to go with a friend, I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing, form wise at least. The only thing he didn't know how to do was the barbell row, but it looks simple enough.
youll fuck up your back if you do it wrong , look up videos and teach him
alright, but should I take any supplements or anything like that if I'm only trying to slim down a bit and get toned?
get toned?
are you a fucking girl or something?
what's up with all the hate in this sub forum?
alright no, i guess thats the wrong way to phrase it. I don't want to bulk up too much, i'd rather get on the slimmer side and build a bit of muscle.
what's up with all the hate in this sub forum?
its me im the hate this guy
what's up with all the hate in this sub forum?
Casus is on his period
Bleh, I'm starting to hate SL 5x5, Lack of pump, and lack of overall difficulty.
Pump is useless. Lack of difficulty will soon pass. Hmm I'm not even intentionally eating much, but I just counted I've already taken 3500 cals and I haven't eaten evening meal yet. I used an online calculator that has exact nutrient contents of almost all finnish products. E: Oh I'm actually getting quite a lot of protein. Is it too much? 66-70kg bw 211 grams Protein, 336 grams carbs, 147 grams fat E: No supplements
what are some good chest exercises, other than pushups, that don't require a gym? i'm trying to get some actual pecs
