Can you guys recommend me some stretches that will allow me to do the splits in the next month or so? It's for headkicks and whatnot. (There's no martial arts classes around here so I'm trying to teach myself a few things)

I skipped the gym this morning because I was feeling ill, but now I'm feeling much better, and am debating going. It's almost midnight, so maybe I'll get lucky and not have to wait in line for the power rack! My gym is the McDonalds of the gym world; too much of the crap of you don't need, not enough of the crap you do, and filled with people who don't actually want to be there.

strong nipple hairs nice progress though, keep it up
I'm on my one-month mark now! It's cool seeing how my body changes as it reacts to this stuff. Nothing drastic yet, but there is a noticeable difference in my chest and shoulder areas, my calves are starting to look a little bit more define, and when I flex my abs, I can actually see a hint of muscles underneath the perma-fat. My hope is to eventually bust through that fat layer, fill in the hole in my chest with pectoral muscle, and add some respectable bulk to my arms. My current goal is to go from my starting weight (185 lbs, 6'5") to 210 lbs. I think 25 lbs is a very reasonable goal.
good job winner im proud

IMO it's better being big as in fat + muscle than small as in muscle and barely fat. When i'm off season of a sport i feel stronger because i have more fat. In wrestling though, that 130 is probably gonna go down to 124 pounds or maybe even 120 pounds if i really wanted to go lower weight class i'm 5'8" and almost 130 pounds. pretty damn small D: i'm a sophomore and 5'8" the f..
Wait 3 days, if it doesn't get better, see a doc. Best idea is to cool it with ice. If you want to go the pure regeneration route though, heat your calves up as much as you can with slowly heating water. Don't make it comfortable, it must be just about bearable. Your skin should be very red. Then, immediately put them into ice cold water for 30 secs. Rub them dry as much as you can, think of rubbing so hard your skin gets red. Then get some towels, put them in the cold water and wrap one around each calve. Get another two and wrap them dry around the wet ones. Go to bed, make sure to cover your calves with the blanket as much as possible. You can try some herbs too. Rosemaria, Camphor, Chili and Arnika (don't know how it's called in English, pretty common in salves for rheumatism and arthrosis) make a great ailment for just about any sports injury. Oh, and this water treatment can be used for a speedy recovery of the whole body. (If you have a flu just wrap the towels completely around your body, drink much beforehand and thoroughly cover yourself. You will induce a fever that helps the body cure itself. )
Tried your advice, it helped a lot. I'm pretty much recovered now. Going to give my calves a rest this week though, gotta wait for it to fully heal.
Eat magnesium supplements. Lack of it makes my calves hurt like hell after workout and they cramp all the time.
Guess who's going to go and join the university gym right now? This guy. [editline]10th September 2011[/editline] Gym's closed, will have to do some workout research until Tuesday.
Guess whos stacked on 8 pounds of muscle in a month ish time? this guy;) i love noob gains.
Wow, one month already BDA? Where does the time go?
At University? Struggling for calories? Bodybuilding? Find you're losing weight cause you wake up too late and miss meals? Don't have loads of time to spend preparing big meals? Solution: 250g Baked Beans 250g Instant Rice 130g Tin of Tuna 30g Mayonnaise Put the Rice in the microwave for 2 minutes. Add the tuna, beans and some mayonnaise. 1396 calories 60g protein 55g carbs 12g fat Looking at macro ratio of 40% Protein, 40% Carbs and 20% Fat which are excellent ratios (something you should definitely be considering if you're bodybuilding).
I'm thinking of joining a local gym and have just been doing a bit of research on a weights programme. I was wondering, how long is a typical amount of time to spend in a gym? I know there's not a set time but is it just simply, once you've done exercises X,Y and Z, you're done? Now I've typed it, it sounds silly. Any help is appreciated none the less.

Personally I do 2 hours of MMA, 1 hour 45 minutes of lifting, then I run 2 miles. So yeah, it kinda depends from person to person.
I'm going to start serious bodybuilding at the gym next week Wish me luck!
start today dood
PIECE OF SHIT SCHOOL WEIGHT ROOM OPEN UP ALREADY I THINK THE ROIDS ARE KICKING IN DESTROY EVERYTHING RAUUUUUUUUGH
I've been working out for about 3 years and only about a year ago was serious about it. Its cool thinking back to how you started (your weight, appearance, strength) and how far you've come from there. Im really shy and getting stronger and actually looking like it over the years has definitely helped my confidence a shitload and has helped me come out of my shell a little bit. For anyone on the fence, just do it. What do you have to lose? If you don't like it after a few months then you can always stop. And not having a gym membership isn't an excuse. There's tons of body weight exercises you can do at a children's playground. You can even incorporate something fun into your workout if you don't like monotonous repetitions of weight lifting. I climb the rockwall at my gym after some workouts and its great. Just get out there and do it; its totally worth it
