Well I've got my first injury
Anyone here ever get a large crack in there neck and then feel really sore afterwards
I mean when you move your neck it hurts
Doesn't feel like a bone problem, just in the muscles? Was thinking of riding it out over the weekend and see how I am on monday
happened to me often when i started doing pull ups for the first time
my bro suggested:
Spend 1-2 seconds on the positive action (ex. benchpress, press it up off your chest)
Breathe out as you do the positive.
Spend 3-4 seconds on the negative action (ex. benchpress, barbell is going back down to your nips)
Breathe in on the negative.
been doing that for mostly exercise, works great bro
I have almost no upper body strength, yet on the leg curls i'm pulling 120 :v:
any tips facepunch?
So, I've been running a mile every night for about half a week now- planning on doing it every night for now on. How well will this improve my stamina? I think every 10 days or so I'm gonna try to get up to an extra mile all the way up until 3-4 miles. Does this sound reasonable?
No helping comments whatsoever of my form? Shucks.
The fuck man.. I've been lifting and trying my hardest for the past 3-4 weeks, i went from 122 pounds to 130 pounds but almost no difference but only when i flex. Why is it that i look the exact same when i'm not flexing?
3-4 weeks isn't very long m8
Likely you're holding a lot of water.
Here's to hoping that NotMeh will give me some tips if he sees necessary instead of the funny rating which I hope is directed at my Down's comment and not my form. Har har.
Give yourself a month of trial n error. Watch videos online; Mark Rippetoe. Watch those like 500000 times, try it yourself like 5000 times. come back here, post a video.
I should have this exercise mastered to the details.
Heh, I do watch lifting videos to see the approximate form, but a written instruction would work better when asking for corrections in form. I definitely won't be catching all the nuances of lifts just from watching videos.
So I just destroyed my 2nd or 3rd pair of boxers while squatting.
Is this fine? Seems I'm sticking my ass out quite a bit and RIIIIP. Scared it was my shorts for a second.
Listen, unless you have some horrible calcium deficiency or some horrible bone degerating disease, you have no excuse for changing the form. You do not bounce the barbell off your chest. I hate it when people do this because its a pussy way of adding weight, and can break your ribs. Don't bounce it. At all. Stop right above your chest, and then explode. Waiting while bemching to get oxygen is fine, but don't do it every rep. I wait on my lat rep and breath while I have it ectended. Do proper form.

your penis must hate you
That feel when you leave your gym bag including fighting equipment out in the open in the gym locker room. That feel when you get all the way home before you notice. That feel when its too late to go back.
Plz be there tomorrow.
Anyone else here do MMA/boxing? I have been boxing for two years, getting serious about it now, and am also practicing certain aspects from wrestling, karate, judo, kickboxing, and jiu jitsu. I also do tai chi.
I've been competing in boxing for many years now. Did 2 years of karate when i was younger, and have dabbled in Muay Thai, BJJ and other shit along the way.
Aikido is a fucking joke. "BUT ITS HUNDREDS OF YEARS OLD, IT MUST WORK". No. Bullshit that is hundreds of years old is still bullshit.
I'll teach you BJJ ;)

Well, Aikido only works well if you have the same martial arts background as Ueshiba. He went to China for a few years and learnt aspects of Bagua Zhang there, which gave him his skills.
Btw, Bagua Zhang a internal martial art like Tai Chi Chuan, Xingyiguan, Liu He Ba Fa.. to mention the most popular ones. Personally I practice the Old Yang style of Tai Chi, as well as Tae Kwon Do and kickboxing.
@lemoncurry What style do you practice ? :)
Thoughts on this program?
Day A: Bench 5x5, Lat Pulldowns 5x5, Squats (HEAVY) 5x5, 3x12 tricep workout
Day B: Deadlifts 1x5, Overhead Press 5x5, Squats (Lighter) 5x5, Biceps 3x12, Calf Raises 3x12
BxAxBxA
Sounds like a gay version of SS.
Do SS and fuck your program. Stop worrying about biceps, they'll come, trust me.
I don't think I bounce it off my chest, rather, the bar lands on my chest in the later lifts before I manage to breake the bar enough to stop it from doing so. I do still hold it in my hands in the beginning of the push stage though, so in the push stage I use my legs and arms to drive the bar up, not my chest.
I'll try to put more attention on that though. Anything else?

Aikido is a fucking joke. I mean some of the principles are pretty good... but the majority of the techniques are extremely impractical, especially in real world situations.
When i'm overhead pressing in SL, should I be doing push press, militairy press etc...
I think he intended for you to do the MP.
Okay, thanks, i'll try that today.

The guide on bodybuilding.com shows someone using a normal barbell. Should I be using one of those or an olympic barbell?
Doesn't matter. I use an 8kg bar. I just add more weight accordingly.
How long should I be looking to rest between sets?
I already answered that, look it up using the search button.

Yo is benching with dumbbells okay for SL? Thought I might give it a go.

No, god forbid you do anything outside of what is written in SL. If you dare make one change I swear to god you will lose all your gains and you'll become skinny fat forever.
Just lift shit up and put it down ffs
