Well feminists like this do exist. In fact quite a few of them do.
Just look at this this. A university educator with an audience that almost certainly agrees with them.
has it every occurred to any of you that on the internet everything you see is there because it's cherry picked and the real world is mostly comprised of banality and normality that you'll never hear about
i don't get it
he's implied that anyone who denies the university is a plague pit of feminazi feelings is a clandestine agent of the SJW menace
Yea, they can have their opinions and voice them, sure whatever.
My problem is that we love to focus on these extremist types, and by doing so, we're causing people to hate more moderate types within these movements.
Radicals find their way to the tops of organizations and movements. Addressing them is quite important.

This exactly. I want to hear what normal, well-balanced people have to say about these issues.
Yea, they can have their opinions and voice them, sure whatever.

I don't give the slightest shit about Tumblr, or MRAs, or SJWs, or other meme internet buzzwords people love to fling around. We're focusing on non-issues and I would much rather get to the issues at hand, instead of arguing whether these movements are good or bad because Tumblr said this, or Tumblr said that.
I never brought up tumblr.
I'm talking about the concept of extremists, and extremism as a whole and how that impacts moderates and other people in discussions about social policies and social progress or lack of that's occuring in society. I'm not talking about tumblr.
And fair enough, if you would say "who gives a shit" to the MRA, then good on you, we're in more similar boats than you think. The issue isn't that "Who gives a shit" because people certainly do regardless of the focus that facepunch may put on things like this. In the real world, average people, moderates, are influenced by extremes. And the more often extreme voices are heard, the more normalized people get to it. I think saying "Who gives a shit" is a pretty good first step. It's just getting other people who do give a shit to feel the same way.

I've experienced this sort of stuff in the real world. It's getting more and more common.
This exactly. I want to hear what normal, well-balanced people have to say about these issues.
I want to point out how funny it is that you just toss out "well balanced" like anyone who posts here is just whacked, except for you I assume?
what kind of mental gymnasium does this person have in her head where she would jump to conclusions like this?
I think the lot we're looking at right now dilute discussions that are certainly worth having, it's as important to remember that while these guys are crazy at the root their point is something we can sympathize or agree with. The same thing I say to those that call themselves 'anti feminist' because they think feminism is the crazy 'everything is misogynistic' bullshit they see on the internet.
The ideas that straight white males somehow deserve less rights than others or that everything is a trigger, or that toastkin is a thing are all batshit crazy. But it's worth noting that as a white and straight and middle class male I do have a more privelleged place in society, that gender is more complex than we might think and that some things do trigger truama victims and that trigger warnings are worth using in sensitive situations like when posting about abuse or war.
Fortunately not many people here believes triggers are completely ridiculous, that gender comes down to being born male or female and all that, but I've got to say this as people like this crop up more and more in every topic we tackle: don't let the crazies kill the discussion.
Maybe this post is a bit off topic, but still.

Of course we're in the same boat. And it's precisely because of all these videos that normal people become influenced by extremists.
Like I said, I want to see videos and hear viewpoints that counter these awful opinions.
Why is it that everytime I hear the word "privileged" it makes me want to punch the person who said it?
I feel the same way when the word "Cis" is used in this context. Can they not realize what asses they're making themselves look like?

mate... you have very little self awareness
People like this are hilarious to be honest. I can't take them seriously anymore.
Social justice minded people in SH keep saying that these people don't exist but I keep seeing them existing.
Nobody denies their existence we just say they're a small vocal minority who've grouped anyone using tumblr into a filthy left wing socialist SJW who hates anything that's white when really that'd have to be 3% of the userbase
I would however say Tumblr is very left wing/socialist leaning with very few conservatives getting an opportunity to say something

Unfortunately, I only really see guys like Sargon, Amazing Atheist and thunderf00t tackling videos like this and that's not really good enough seeing as Sargon is ok at best and the other two are crazy. Still, I suppose I should listen to the arguments and ignore my personal opinions of the people, but even then TF and AA don't make arguments they just shout a lot. Then you a need respectable person to represent an argument even if they're making the same points as an unrespectable person.

Sargon makes great points sometimes but then he segues into some crazy shit. Look at the Laci Green video he did. He calls women lazy. He's gotten more rational recently though.
Most of AA and Sargon are about bringing insanity to light and mocking it. Less about arguing and facts.

A bisexual guy who dates transgendered people and a liberal scientist heavily involved with atheism are apparently the most right wing things ever.
One nasty drunken comment and suddenly you're the most hateful person ever.
Shit ton of people
It's probably less than that, you know this

Since he never followed up or apologized yeah I'd say so.
When it comes to belittling rape victims and then brushing it off as "haha i was just drunk jeez guys" makes you a shitty person. Just saying.

I'm sorry but whoever they are personally and what they do in the bedroom doesn't really matter when they present their, often nonexistant, arguments by screaming and shouting and claiming themselves as anti feminists.
Shit ton of people

Tumblr, like facebook and twitter, are sites where who you follow make your experience. You can follow a shit ton of hard left feminist and get the general view that Tumblr is infiltrated with those people or you can follow a horde of shitposters and assume tumblr is a shitposting website
The reason why everyone says "Tumblr is full of this rot" is purely because of people diving deep into the website to find absolutely obnoxious and borderline insane posts
And yeah it may not be a big dive to find this stuff but honestly again, who you follow makes the site experience

I remember I was browsing a porn tumblr back in the day that occasionally featured rape art (don't ask, I eventually stopped browsing that tumblr because I got sick of that shit). No one said anything about the rape art. However do you know what did cause someone to flip out and start a several page long flame war? Someone made a joke "making light of rape". What was the joke? "Make sure to carry PEPPER spray in case you're asSALTed"
This caused a multi page argument. On a Tumblr featuring rape art.
These people aren't localized to their own corners of Tumblr. They're everywhere. Running into one is just a matter of probability.

Honestly, I do follow some insane blogs just for a laugh but yeah, even the blogs unrelated to that stuff gets this kindof drama.
It's probably less than that, you know this
This way of thinking isn't contained to tumblr. There are people who don't post on tumblr that think like this.

I've seen quite a bit of apologizing. Podcasts, videos, tumblr posts, etc. Either way I wouldn't take one dumb thing said and hold it against somebody forever, especially if they show remorse for it.

i mean i know people are deliberately looking for that stuff but there sure does seem to be an everlasting supply of it

Rape is really touchy on Tumblr, talking about rape in any light that's not negative will get you instaflamed. I don't find that joke particularly funny but I'd mostly let it slide.
Also artistic creations are seen as positive on Tumblr so some painting or artistic representation about art is based around the creators experiences, to some, art is a release of bad times and that's how they express their misery or haunting past.
I'll tell you this now, if people pick up that someone is trying to capitalise on things like rape, it never ends well and tbh capitalising on that sort of stuff isn't cool anyway
They're everywhere. Running into one is just a matter of probability.
T-the scary SJWs s-s-sure are everywhere, scoob!
Just kidding.
I've run into one. And I follow a FUCKTON of blogs.
[editline]25th August 2015[/editline]
But no I'll be considered making anecdotal posts so what am I saying
i mean i know people are deliberately looking for that stuff but there sure does seem to be an everlasting supply of it
There's an everlasting supply of right wingers on Facebook too who make insane posts regarding a lot of different political aspects, doesn't mean FB is full of it. Of course it's everlasting if those people still use the site, you can't drain everyone away
There's an everlasting supply of right wingers on Facebook too who make insane posts regarding a lot of different political aspects
And nobody denies that these insane right wingers exist or that they can have a negative affect on our society.
