This guy's videos suck, please don't let this become a regularly posted channel. He sounds like he's on the verge of crying in most of his videos, he seems really awkward and frenzied and has a hard time just breathing let alone making a coherent point. I don't get it, why would you be mad that Synaptics is trying to improve their trackpads? I mean I get that they still kinda suck, but turning it into a "stop trying to be a Mac!" argument is just stupid.. Almost as stupid as recording or watching a 15 minute video about how some guy doesn't like his trackpad.
This guy is actually one of the smartest guys I think I've ever seen. This video isn't his greatest one at all, in fact it's far from it. But I thoroughly enjoy watching his microsoldering videos. They're extremely informative and the only reason why is because he goes in-depth with basically everything he's doing (kinda like in this video, but in this one it's over something stupid).
At the cost of what functionality? They are not trying to get rid of the trackpoint or anything are they?
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/965202/Facepunch/Lindt_Envy15_productGallery_zoom_3.jpg[/t] This is my laptop touchpad. Let me tell you how much of a piece of shit this is. Not only does the basic functionality of the touchpad not work, but the charms bars that they added to the left are right constantly get in the way. To intensify the problem, tapping is out of control (and unnecessary because you can click the pad too) and the gestures that they've added for it are multiplied by how bad the touchpad is on a very basic level. Randomly zooming in and out, randomly scrolling up and down... All of this could have been remedied if they didn't try to put everything into ONE touchpad button. If they put the clicking into two buttons, it would have fixed the tapping issue. If they moved the scrolling to where the charms activation zones are, then that would be fixed too. All that would be left is fixing the basic functionality of moving the mouse around. The big thing that pisses me off is the death of buttons. Buttons rule. Buttons get shit done. My touchpad wouldn't suck so much if it had some buttons. I'd get stuff done faster on any of my phones if they had some buttons (and none of that subtle one-button that acts as two-buttons, because my touchpad essentially works as a random number generator in that regard). Why? Because I don't have to tap and pray that what I want is going to happen (i.e. inputting words), and I get a positive feedback for plugging at keys (tactile response). But let's go back to my touchpad, where anything goes! Sometimes it might work, sometimes it might not, and the chances are it probably won't. Apple's stuff probably works better in this regard, but in doing so they've set a standard that simpler means less buttons, which might be valid in their case. In mine, however, with an inspired manufacturer, you're at the mercy of how much they give a shit. It's as simple as how much they give a shit.
Is this guy really complaining about trackpads for 15 minutes? Buy a fucking wireless mouse if it's that big of a problem. Not all laptops have shit trackpads - I know the thinkpad series has one of the worst trackpads I have ever used, but I've never had problems with any other brand.
Because I can totally use a mouse in a cramped spot where I'm using my laptop on a bus or train. I disabled everything on my touch pad save for moving the mouse. HP has mouse options that allow you to disable all of the features.

The features seem to work just fine on my end. Now it would be really cool if I had the two finger swipe left and right to go back/forward in browsers.
I think Asus can totally have that gesture for back and forward if the track pad can support like 4 fingers already.
