When the next half life comes out Im going to play them all from start to finish before I touch it.
Its coming along about as fast as the heat death of the universe so far.
Man, this video sends a real strong message.
Yeah, it will never happen. The moment they added the tf2 shop they changed for the worse. They will milk tf2 and dota until gabe is gone and someone else takes over. Maybe our granchildren will get to play it.
What's sad is n the dev commentary in episode 2 they mention they are working on ep3.
Seriously, the fact this actor manages to do this well with a character like freeman would put some hollywood studios to shame in terms of ability.
Why is erveryone getting so emotional about this
It's a video game
was gonna say this is pretty hilarious how people found this remotelyh sad
I don't know about you guys but I want to see this guy in a suit and say nano machines son!
it's probably gonna happen because i'm sure if it wasn't they'd just be straight and say it isn't
just be patient
Half Life 3 is the new Duke Nukem Forever

Yes but I don't think I'm the only one when I say it's been a big part of my childhood and its sad and frustrating to not even know if it will ever be finished. I need closure man.

I won't be alone in saying this. I feel like Half-Life is my game. It was the first ever game on the PC that I played when I was a pre-teenager living with my parents. Now I'm in my twenties with a house of my own and I still don't know how this amazing story ends.
If I hadn't discovered Half-Life, I wouldn't have discovered Garry's Mod, I wouldn't have discovered Facepunch, and fuck knows where I would be if I didn't.
These games represent that for me, and I just want them to finish it...
it'd probably be shit if it came out anyway. then again regardless of how good or not it is interest just wouldn't be big enough given how long its taken
A new half life game really just needs to be the same old except with snow physics.
I want to pick up and make a giant snowball with the gravity gun and then use that to solve various physics puzzles and defeat the combine.
I also want a giant seesaw puzzle with the borealis à la the italian job where you have to balance it with stuff to get the technology at the other end of the boat; else the boat will fall into an abyss and everything will be destroyed
(Though you could also have a cool two-path thing at that point where you get two completely different outcomes and stuff)
There are working on the engine they need for Half Life 3,
every engine generation brought us half life games.
Guess what, they didn't release this year a game, I say this is the calm before the storm.
Let me quote a german game journalist thoughts on this I very much agree with.

And who knows what [2015] will bring up. Last time Valve did not have any game-releases in a year, was the year the switch from the GoldSource-Engine to the Source-Engine took place and which followed 13 games in the next nine years. 2014 is the year, a switch from Source to Source2 was made by Valve. If history repeats itself, an adventurous ride is awaiting us.

I hope it'll come
But Dota 2 will be the first Source 2 game.
(then probably csgo)
Well, we've seen Valve's outstanding skill in playtesting the absolute fuck out of everything they ship out, and in TF2's and DOTA 2's case, still do alongside the community. I'm positive they can deliver eventually.
I remember back in 2008 or 2009, my brother told me I could either get the orange box, or wait for the black box which would include EP3. Good thing I didnt decide to wait for the black box :v:
We HL fans, we sit here every year when our hopes fail and we say 'next year.' Well next year ain't gonna save us, nor the one after that. This series is a treasure, but it's been telling us to leave for a while now.
What I dislike more than the length of the delay is the fact that they barely say anything about why they're delaying it. It's like they're trying to ignore it until we forget it and then that's just something shoved under the rug.
I look at everything for it's bad qualities and I almost always assume everything for the worst. But for some reason I can't imagine Valve would just leave Episode 2 hanging like that.
I'm really, really hoping they'll just come out with something that's gonna blow our minds when they're ready
Just watch, in two years time we'll find out Valve has teamed up with Gearbox to create "Tales of the Half-Life" episodes 1 and 2.
There are two possibilities for HL3: It will let us down, or it won't. Only time will tell which.
The only good thing about possible HL3 is that when it comes out it will be decent. Valve won't allow to release something they aren't satisfied with. Unfortunately a lot of time passed, a lot of other games were released and I myself fear if they can meet the expectations.
They were extremely quiet about HL but I still remember the old comment how the staff chooses to help other projects instead of working on HL3/Ep3.
It's taking too long at this point and HL is very rarely on my mind nowadays. But. TF2 turned out great and although I don't play it anymore I enjoyed it for years. I had no interest in Portal 2 and it was an amazing game.

That's what happened with Duke Nukem Forever. That's why they kept changing engines and restarting the project.
the hype around half life 3 diminishing half life 3 is kind of expected, other than the obvious reason of its development ceasing for a long time. half life 3 won't meet up to fans expectations because nothing ever really does.
I think the main reason hl2:ep3/hl3 is taking so long is like what other people in this thread have said, However I like to think originally they may have been waiting for technology to advance after waiting all those years Valve simply realized there was more profit in other things and as such continued HL3's development being on ice. like a lot of people like to thing Valve is this wonderful and kind thing but at the end of the day it's a company and it does what companies do, make profit.

actually that's not water, it's a soda can. I like the small detail in the video that the cans are actually quite a lot like that blue can model from hl2 all it's missing is the >B on the side.

water doesn't make that fizzing noise when you open it, though if it's Breen's Reserve brand soda it probably still has the memory loss symptoms.

the model I mentioned.

I think it's most likely an example of the Coconut effect. People expect to hear that hissing noise when a can is opened because non-carbonated drinks normally aren't canned.

anything from a can (like that) makes that noise when you open it
