My Little Pony - For children, or acceptable as adult entertainment?
I don't really care that they watch it, but it gets me rattled when they make up excuses like "The plot is so intricate" and "it is the most genius show of our time".
It really isn't.
I, personally, don't think "it is the most genius show of our time." In fact, that's far from the truth. I do admit, however, that it is a good show, it's certainly better than half the shit they have on Nickelodeon nowadays. I think it's certainly better than that video of Squidward getting his toenail ripped off.
people can like what they want.
Thank you for stating the obvious of obvious. A+ Would read again.
I hate the word brony. I also hate how the fandom fucked themselves over because they flaunted their shit about like, well, furries. No one cares that you like the show. No one wants to see their threads garbled with that shit. It's fine if you like it, but don't go plastering your 20% cooler sprays on the TF2 servers I play on and then reply with 'haters gonna hate' because that's the reason why 'bronies' are so disliked everywhere they go.
No, fuck that.

Quick question, do you consider yourself a "brony"?
To rephrase the question, is it okay for adults to watch children's shows? One would disagree until they remember the shows of their childhood. Although it is strange, it's not necessarily wrong to watch a show that isn't made for your age group, when I was young I watched quite a bit of Frasier.
I would have nothing against them if only their fanbase wasn't as parasitic and pushy as furries, which seem to be the side of the spectrum they seem most aligned too.
If it's not some sort of fetish, or some sort of political/social clique, then what the fuck is this? Is it funny? Is it something you wanna be known for?

Even furries hate them for the most part.
Don't you dare say MLP is for adults, have you ever watched a good cartoon? Courage the Cowardly Dog for example?
I think the show was created for girls. But the creator Lauren Faust was quoted as saying that she wanted to watch a show that parents could watch as well without wanting to shoot themselves. Question, how many people who don't like the show haven't watched it? Or have and pretend to hate it because it's "gay". It really depends how secure you are in your masculinity.
I don't care. Regular Show is for kids as well, but I'm sure some people who hate ponies watch that.
Look, the whole "CRUSADE AGAINST PONIES KILL THEM ALL" thing isn't going anywhere besides backwards. It's a ridiculous reason to hate someone.
The way I see it, there are 2 types of My Little Pony fans.
The first type are the ones who watch the show in their free time. I will be honest, and admit that I am one of these. I watch the show, and I know that it is a girly cartoon, but I still enjoy it.
However, you also have the "Bronies". These ones to me have always been the ones who talk about the show all the time, wear clothes related to the show in public, make their own ponies of themselves, and talk about which pony they want to fuck. Many of them try to defend their borderline obsession for the show, and end up just making a fool of themselves, saying it's for adults, even though there's only been 3 or 4 "adult" jokes that I can recall. They also try to "convert" people, but it mostly turns into "No man that episodes shit watch this one. No that ones shit it's hard to understand the humor since you don't know the character's personalities just watch 10 more episodes and then you'll like it!"
The latter is obviously the worst, and honestly, even though I do watch it, I can perfectly understand why you guys who hate the show do hate it, and I don't blame you at all.
For children. For fucking children. 5-7 year old girls.
Every grown male adult or "brony" who actually likes and faps to this shit needs to all line up and get shot executioner style.
Except you, wanting to kill someone because of a show that they watch is just wrong.
It's quite obviously a children's show. But I don't think what you asked is the right question. The real correct question would be 'Is it alright for grown men to watch a children's show?'.
Of course it's alright for middle-aged men to watch a children's show. Making distinctions on an age/gender basis isn't really reasonable to begin with, when it comes to entertainment.
I believe that the reason most people here (me included) can't stand MLP:FiM anymore is how people who like it feel the need to permanently shove it in everyone's faces. It's almost as if their existence could only be validated by that. (most notably through the whole "you will be assimilated, we will love and tolerate the shit out of you" thing)

I've watched the show. I thought it was nothing special to obsess over. Hence why I hate anybody who thinks its somehow "In-depth" or so mistic. I honestly thought it was some kind of trivial bullshit, and want to know the best part about it? IT WAS

Shame on you for taking somebody on the internet seriously. I mean c'mon are you fucking kidding me? Use your brain.
Maybe the reason the show is so popular that older people get nostalgic about watching it, reminding them of the Saturday morning cartoon, something they now have no time for, and by watching the show, associate it with the good feelings and carefree attitude of childhood, tethering the feelings to this new show, they enjoy it.

Your statement is flawed for I, do not get nostalgic for watching it. I get nostalgic for watching thundercats.
And this is why ponies should never be discussed on Facepunch again.
I, personally, completely obsess over ponies because I have absolutely nothing else to fill the void in my pathetic life, but that's just me

I'm the middle of those three. Unfortunately, I have a friend who started a school club for ponies, drags me to it against my will, and posts posters all over the fucking school.
One of the major issues with this thread is, people keep trying to argue what a "good" or "bad" cartoon is. Whether it is or not is not fact, and even as an opinion, it's not one that should matter to other people.
I don't post outside of pony threads, though - that's that's just pointless.
And this is why ponies should never be discussed on Facepunch again.
I disagree, I'm finding this as a rather good debate.
And this is why ponies should never be discussed on Facepunch again.
But others insist on having a MLP thread where they can talk about MLP all they want, where they know its going to get slammed in the ass constantly by trolls, and Mods having to take shifts for a single thread.

Everyone migrated to their own forum for discussion.

I don't believe you one bit when you say that you were somehow, "dragged into it against your will". Your either 1. A total tool.. Or B. Number three in the chart.

When avatars for blues got removed somebody thought it'd be great to start asking if they could have their thread back.
I disagree, I'm finding this as a rather good debate.
Debate? Right now, it's a brewing shitstorm. That's it.

Ask your friend why he acts like that. It's a TV show, why does he feel the need to show his love for it all over the school? Does he feel like he'll gain something for doing it? It's a cartoon, and, even if it weren't MLP, I think it would be pretty damn stupid.

Only one guy wanted that, the rest of us are happy with our own forum.
I honestly try to associate MLP fandom with some sort of odd shape of Naruto fandom but even then I cannot help but think there's some Jungian psychology involved in there.
As opposed to Naruto since there is no psychology there, just stupid.
I disagree, I'm finding this as a rather good debate.
Not really. A large amount of the argument's I've heard so far is some kind of namecalling or Ad Hominem.
Only one guy wanted that, the rest of us are happy with our own forum.
I don't think it was just ONE person, and if you're happy with your own forum then good for you. What am I supposed to think of it? I mean I could not give two shits less.

Actually, there were 2, myself and MasterG.
Although I had not been a watcher of MLP when the actual thread was around so I never went in there. I stopped believing it was a good idea once I was told how much shit went down.
it's so fucking obviously for little girls and if you try to say otherwise you are an idiot
that's really all there is to say on the matter
