Not really. A large amount of the argument's I've heard so far is some kind of namecalling or Ad Hominem.
Not really, I am particularly calling for a member of the fandom to explain to me its appeal, since I find it hard to understand, but that could be because I am on the outside of it all.
Makes some pretty decent points about the show. I have no issue with anyone watching any sort of TV show, as it is for entertainment. It is the people who shove said show down your throat like it is some sort of religion that are the problem (and the people who use it to troll).
Not really, I am particularly calling for a member of the fandom to explain to me its appeal, since I find it hard to understand, but that could be because I am on the outside of it all.
Well, that varies from person to person. Some people watch it because of the great animation. Some people watch it because they're creepy fucks who take the fandom way too god damn far. Personally, I watch it because my life is just constant running into stupid vulgar shit, and MLP makes me feel innocent again.
Maybe most of the Pony-fans are probably gay. Maybe that's why most fans are adults because they're gay. Now I feel like an idiot by hating ponies in the first place.
I will juuuuust throw this out there: many shows these days are aimed at both kids and adults, aimed at the adults with adult humor or things children would not understand. Why? Because its the adults who get stuck with the kid and have to watch the show, so the writers thrown in a little bit, just for the parents sake. Hell, go watch any show that has come out in the past, 9 or 10 years or so, you'll understand this a bit more.
Not really, I am particularly calling for a member of the fandom to explain to me its appeal, since I find it hard to understand, but that could be because I am on the outside of it all.
I didn't mean you in specific, but the thread just became a massive shitstorm. Basically, it's my liking, I express that I enjoy the show, basically, its main appeal to me is, the show doesn't treat its audience (even if a lot of that is 12 year old girls) like idiots.
Personally, I watch it because my life is just constant running into stupid vulgar shit, and MLP makes me feel innocent again.

Basically, it's my liking, I express that I enjoy the show, basically, its main appeal to me is, the show doesn't treat its audience (even if a lot of that is 12 year old girls) like idiots.
Now we're getting somewhere. Now allow me to retort. Could this be because the kind of shows that you want to see are cartoons, but cartoons seem to be targeted to the wrong audience?
Even furries hate them for the most part. Don't you dare say MLP is for adults, have you ever watched a good cartoon? Courage the Cowardly Dog for example?
replace furries with "MLP" and you pretty much summarize furries also, people who OBSESS over it are idiots, just like people who OBSESS like its their lives over Sponge bob, furries, penis's, and sodomy are idiots. If you obsessed over lets say, welding, cars, or an actual hobby, thats fine, but a fictional idea/concept? STOP IT. STOP IT NOW YOU UNNATURAL CREEP.
No Human Being in their right mind should ever call themself a brony.

I don't get the "hur I watch it for the animation" argument who the fuck watches a show solely for the animation
I didn't mean you in specific, but the thread just became a massive shitstorm. Is an extremely vague reason.. I don't even understand what you're trying to say.
Don't forget the one with three legs during the song called "Winter Wrap-up".
I find it absurd how someone could so badly screw up what is essentially an extremely easy animation process. The art for the most part is cripplingly simple (which isn't a bad thing in of itself), the movement is, apart from the special movements, 40-60% tweens, and they get to use pre-designed parts for all the non-main ponies and for quite a few of the generic motions for the main ponies. At the very least, you'd expect them to not have animation errors like that that are on the screen for over 5-10 seconds in full view.
I don't get the "hur I watch it for the animation" argument who the fuck watches a show solely for the animation
presumably it's just a stupid excuse but I hear it enough that I suppose maybe one person does it's like the dumb douchebags who play a game almost solely based on the graphics

The need to keep a deadline usually surmounts the need to keep every single frame neat.
This image is inaccurate as 90% of pony fans fit into either the ponyfag or ponyfreak section. The other 10% are girls under the age of 8.
make that 89%

I'll budge on the subject of story. The story is interesting. I indeed have managed to sit through most if not all the episodes of My Little Pony and watch them, and be interested in them long enough for it to have my attention, but they are not the greatest stories I've ever seen. The plots are mostly just spins on overdone stock-stories (like the Bird In The Hoof is a very common concept of "oh no I've been left with someone's X and now it's broken what do I do and also a moral at the end" archetype), but the characters are interesting enough (while, again, not being the most original things) to make it a fun ol' story to watch, despite having seen it a thousand times before.
Happens often, really, you see this on nearly any animated show, you just don't see it unless you have a keen eye for it. The need to keep a deadline usually surmounts the need to keep every single frame neat.
I agree, however by saying that you can't then assert that it has superb or great animation. It can't just be great "because it's great", it has to continually prove that it is far above quality across the board, and having cyclops-ponies staring at Rarity does not constitute as amazing, even if it was a harmless mistake it shows a disregard for checking your work.
We should study the effects of this childrens show, perhaps we can develop a mind control device from the studies. No other childrens show makes grown man so obsessed that they change their avatar and nicks to something from the show. If we figure out the cause of this we would probably win a nobel price.

Off topic. On topic. Honestly, I don't mind the show. I don't watch it. But I don't get upset about other males watching it. Its a TV show.
at times it got a little too girly for my taste
Well no shit, it was made for young girls.
It's for kids, but many animators make references to several things so that the parents won't have to watch a shit cartoon. Pretty much every cartoon contains references and sexual innuendos, such as Adventure Time, Rocko's Modern Life, and Tiny Toons.
I strongly believe that people who like MLP have every right to do so. I do not believe that they act in a way outside of their allotted areas in communities that would deny them their right to enjoy and show that they enjoy the show. I believe that they should be free to express their enjoyment and their fandom in any way they so choose. I have yet to see any MLP fan on Facepunch shove their opinions down their throats. Compared to the following groups: W40K fans Homestuck fans Facepunchers in general Political-minded members 'Scalies' or whatever the dragon folks call themselves Futurama fans Spngebob fans MLP fans are well-mannered and keep their fandom to a minimal on the forums. In contrasts, anti-MLP and anti-Furry fans act as such:

In reaction to an image of a man fucking a dinosaur:

The hypocrasy is rampant. I'm sure you're all fmailiar with this image:

This is common. The facepunch community has many times been openly hostile, even violent, against furries and bronies, for only small reasons, or for merely showing their fandom. This is a forum of progressive, liberal-thinking, accepting people. This is also a bandwagon. Facepunch readily accepts gays, bisexuals, socialists, communists, liberals, democrats, republicans, young and old, men and women, all races, religions, and creeds, and any fetishists short of pedophilia, necrophilia, rapists, and furries, and indeed we even bans for racism and homophobia. Yet furries and bronies, and indeed any MLP-related material, is openly bannable. Nevermind that other fandoms wreak havoc with pages of their content in LMAO pics. Nevermind that there's open hostility towards these fandoms. Nevermind that we have a thread devoted (practically) to fetishism for dragons, and accept certain members' fetishism of pokemon and Futurama characters, and don't even bother mentioning the mass amounts of Spongebob and W40k content that fills LMAO pics. Facepunch is hypocritical on this issue. Find me 15 instances of MLP fans pushing their fandoms on others. Tell me which is easier, 15 instances of that, or 15 instances of anti-MLP fandom, blatant hate for it, or attacks on the fandom. Go ahead, honestly look. So yea, I say, it's for whoever wants to watch it, and you all need to just let the community be and accept that.
Wait, did someone say something about a pony forum?
To each their own, I still watch Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Adventure Time. I enjoy them, and though I don't personally enjoy MLP It's obvious some people do.
