I don't really see all the pony hatred. I mean I understand that Facepunch will buttfuck anyone who is extreme fans of it with insults but I watch MLP, and have admitted it upon multiple occasions, but I would like to think I'm generally a liked member of the community, even with that. I've never really caught shit for it. But I believe that's because MLP is my thing. As in mine, not everybody elses, nobody gives a shit so I keep it to myself. It's like the guy who is telling you about how his parents went on vacation. Sure it's all very interesting to him but you really don't give a fuck and it's quite annoying to hear him prattle on about it.

On FP in general the bronies are pretty sedated (mostly because there's a semi-enforced "No Ponies" rule), and only a few push it far, but I do know that on places like Canterlot.net there's a big "Conversion" culture, where people actively brag and discuss converting (aka exposing people to ponies and attempting through whatever means to get them to not only watch but like the show) people to brony-ism. So while I can't tell how many of these people there are and will give the benefit of the doubt and assume the non-rabid pony fans are the majority, [I]I can definitely say that the rabid pony fans are some of the most irritating people I've encountered in my entire life.[/I]

You shouldn't base the quality of MLP's animation on the cyclops.

Instead of blaming individuals for their actions, the community as a whole is blamed and attacked, even those who are mild-mannered and don't even show their fandom beyond their avatars. If I said everyone with blue names are no good shitposters, all they do is spam and say stupid shit, would it apply? No, because while some, hell, maybe even many blues act stupidly, attack the individual members, NOT the group as a whole. The show can be enjoyed by anyone. Young or old. Being a teen, young man, or grown adult and enjoying the show does not automatically make you a cultist whose intention in life is to shove their love for the show down your throat and force you to like it, too.

I've watched many episodes and the animation ranges from decent to good, but considering: 1) The ease of making the animation itself 2) Corner-cutting (For example, in most Pinkie Pie scenes where she's doing "wacky" things like zooming in on people, they just stretch the object with a tween rather than animating her stretching themselves. With these kinds of shortcuts, mistakes shouldn't be allowed to happen) 3) Quality of the art is just par, so it's not like they spend hours making intricate drawings since there's a fairly simple character design and colour palette 4) And, finally, while not extremely prevalent, mistakes like the cyclops are bad too. You can't forgive that particular mistake, especially as it was on the screen for not "one frame" as you've said twice, but many hundred frames since it was on the screen in plain view for an extended period of time. I don't get what you're trying to achieve here, I'm not bashing the show, I'm just saying the animation is decent rather than excellent, which is true.

This is more a reply I made to someone else on another forum but it's pretty straightforward and open ended to the point of debate. If you'd watch more episodes or paid closer attention you'd notice that the show also contains some references and humor that only adults would most likely get. Yes, the show was made with kids in mind but it has an appeal that goes across all ages (almost). I enjoy watching the show from time to time. Is it the greatest thing of all time? To some maybe but not really. I'm more an anime person but that's part of the appeal to me. It's strikingly similar to my own interests. Though the fan base [I]can[/I] be annoying it's not really the show you should hate, just the annoying fan base. The anime world usually has the same idiots to a lesser extent.

It's funny how in these threads concerning ponies it seems that there is a general hivemind in that everyone accepts ponies and realizes that ponyfags are only a small minority of the fanbase, but outside these threads all I see is blatant pony hate.

I'm just saying that stuff like that shouldn't effect someone's opinion on the animation, since its very small stuff that only someone knowledgeable in the process would notice (because you seem to know your stuff, and I don't know the first thing about animation, and I didn't notice a thing). Its not the best animation in the world, but I think the style is quite good.

Just today some guy made a thread about how he spammed pictures of ponies on his anti-pony friend's facebook page, and not only wasn't called out on being a complete twat, but actually got praised for it. With idiots like that in the fandom, it makes me wish I didn't like the show.
