A classmate of mine committed suicide today because of bullying - General

I'm arguing that if you're harassed about your sexuality to the point where you're seriously considering killing yourself, you should instead pretend you aren't gay, if only for a few years. Why do you think keeping LGBTs in the closet is preferable to fighting alongside them for equal rights (whether in law or otherwise)?

If being in the closet drove you to suicide like bullying for being openly gay did why do we only ever hear about gays that were bullied? I've never once heard of a closet gay that committed suicide for being in the closet, but if we're treating "what ifs" as facts, what if all the gays that have ever committed suicide because of bullies stayed in the closet until they graduated? Do you think any of them would have still killed themselves?
