No, it's not a pussys way out. Obviously you've never been really depressed or suicidal. It takes a lot to bring someone there, and sometimes talking just can't do anything, so don't try to be all tough guy. People are different, not everyone is strong.
Well weak people are traditionally the pussies aren't they. In all seriousness, I can't really feel sympathy for the people who commit suicide in western countries, unless there's some really fucked up reason behind. Shit, I've been bullied, but I pulled myself together and hung out around other people instead, made new friends. I also started working out (and before y'all go "what a dochey, lying faggot you are, you never fought anyone", then no, I didn't fight my bully), and that really gave me confidence in myself (which is the most important thing). Got as far as getting into a fight with an aggressive, provocative dude at a party, a fight I would otherwise have backed out of, because the bullying had really crumbled my self esteem. Point is, there are so many ways to get out of stuff like this, suicide is rarely justified (imo anyway). Starving African kids have a real reason to commit suicide, yet they don't, why should I feel sympathy for someone who does it over bullying. I do feel for this kids family and friends though, I can't imagine how hard it must be to have your child commit suicide, I feel bad all the way inside just thinking of it.
I get bullied all the time. I'm pretty sure no one notices. Not even the Teachers, hell half the time they defend them so there isn't really any hope. Suicide prevention is a joke.
Do something about it. Have you told your parents? Have you told a counselor? Have you told the principal? If you haven't, then you have no business bitching about it. Hell, join an MMA gym or something. You don't have to take physical action toward the bullies, but people that know how to fight have an aura around them that says "Don't fuck with me."
I've actually been on both sides of the equation. I've bullied relentlessly and I've been bullied relentlessly. The fact that some people break almost instantaneously proves everything I've been saying, suicide is one way nature enforces natural selection on humans. You're saying it's perfectly okay to be mentally weak and fragile? I'm not saying people like that deserve to die, but when they commit suicide over something silly, you shouldn't attempt to justify their actions by telling everyone else that they simply don't understand. Like BDA and myself said, depression may suck ass but it doesn't make you stupid. Any intelligent person would know that depression doesn't last forever, anyone that kills themselves because of a temporary problem like depression does not exactly fit the description of intelligence.
so you're basically saying that this kid is an idiot for killing himself after being the victim of endless torment by a couple of shitheads that couldn't accept his sexuality and that this was just a way of natural selection? I really wish the GMF revocation thread was re-opened right about now.
Suicide should never be an option for someone being bullied. Regardless of your views on homosexuality, it's disgusting that this young man took his life because of some thick-headed cowards who were bullying him.
Suicide should never be an option for someone being bullied.
It's best if you commit suicide over something noble like gambling debts.

It affects your loved ones more than the fucking problem you had, I've had my brother commit suicide, and you have no idea what it feels like when you think that you could have stopped it.
Someone please post the 4chan thread screencap about that guy's views on suicide and how if you're gonna commit suicide, you should fight sharks and bang hookers in Portugal. I love reading it.
While this may be correct for some bullies, it isn't the case universally. When I was a bully in elementary school, I did it because it was fun and exciting. Yes, I was a cruel and sadistic child, but I simply thought it was fun to play with people's emotions and try to evoke certain reactions from them. I was as confident as children get, had no self-esteem issues, did well in school, all that jazz. I was just an asshole. Most bullies do it just because they are assholes. Everyone who thinks homophobia is involved in this is being ridiculous. Bullies work by finding something you're sensitive about and targeting it. They most likely had no problem with gay people, they just knew the kid was sensitive about being gay so they targeted it. If he was fat, they would have targeted that. Hell, they might have even targeted him being a jew if he was one, even though they don't have any antisemitic beliefs. Bullies find your weakness and exploit it. If the kid didn't wear his heart on his sleeve and simply said "Yeah, I'm gay. Sue me," then they would have left him alone.
aw rite mate never knew you were there sorry for the misunderstanding
because he was gay.
That's america for ya(if it happened in america that is) But im honestly sorry for what happened to your classmate, heard 'bout exactly the same story around november of last year in news.
I was, and still am bullied by other people at my school. This has been going on for 10 years straight (im 14) and I HAVE put a knife to my throat once. People treat me as shit, and I seriously dont care anymore. I understand others may have a harder time than me, and thats why I didnt do it. I did not have the balls, as my life is, and was not, that bad. After that, I grew an arrogance and my ego skyrockets I do something well. I hate the rest of the world simply because of how I was and am treated, and for me, choice would be easy. Dont. My presence just makes them rage more, and I enjoy it. I enjoy their pain, and I am sadistic as fuck. I feel sorry for OP and the kid tho. what happened to the bullies?
That's really sad. Bullying is such a cowardly thing to do to someone, and it's often times done by people who were abused/bullied themselves. Society hasn't changed much. I hope everyone responsible is arrested and jailed. And it seems there are just as many ignorant people replying in this thread as there are in your school.
My condolences, mate. Back in high school there wasn't a great deal of outright bullying towards the LGBT community, but people whispered about it amongst themselves. The whispers were almost as bad as being confronted about it.
I think it's silly how people believe their depression was/is worse than everyone else's. I've been depressed too. Suicidal? No, because I'm not a little girl. I felt like shit and didn't have any motive to keep moving forward, but I was a smart enough individual to realize that I was depressed and life wasn't really as bad as I was perceiving it. With that in mind, I just kept forcing myself to get out of bed until it went away over time. Depression sucks, yes, but it does not justify suicide. You can spew bullshit about how I don't understand what it's like and blah blah blah, but I do. Suicide is for the weak of heart, suicide is for the weak of mind.
LOOK AT ME! I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HOW THE HUMAN MIND WORKS! Suicide because i am depressed is for GIRLZ! LOL, I AM A DUMBASS WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ.
Also to the people talking about suicide being a way of "survival of the fittest" is true, but a poor excuse to use these days. We're in a modern society, these are no longer the hunter gatherer societies of ye olde. We can, and have fixed these issues before, so why should we let people just kill themselves when we can help them have full lives, we can help their illnesses, etc. It's almost like supporting killing the old because they're no longer useful. The reason why we no longer put our elderly out on the ice flows to starve or freeze to death, is because having one more mouth to feed isn't as big an issue (talking first world countries), or having a disabled person around isn't a detriment to the tribe. We can fix these things, so we should strive to. We can prevent these things, so we should do so.
