Used to drive around on garbage days looking for stuff like this, my best find was a box with a working NES, SNES, Genesis, cables/controllers and about 10 games.
ITT people are highly overestimating the worth of video games or people really need to find better things to spend their money on.

No one is overestimating anything, old games can go for really high prices as collector's items. Is everything that people collect and sell for hundreds of dollars dumb then?

I doubt anyone was actually playing them, if they were they wouldn't all be in their perfect condition boxes. It looks like they've all just been sitting somewhere in the boxes for a long time.
I'd almost feel bad taking all that for $40 from that woman. She has no idea how valuable that stuff is.
I don't know what I'd do in his situation. Take the games for cheap or tell her they're worth far more than I could afford. Hard choice.

These are games that you went into Toys R Us, flipped the laminated image of the box art, to see the images on the back of the game itself, and if you wanted it, Pulled the paper number out from under it. Went to the desk, and bought the game

I guess we should feel really lucky that new games are still worth that much today.
