It really bugs me how it's so quiet.
There's a huge battle going on and planes flying around and guns shooting them down, but it sure doesn't sound like it. The stomper is absolutely gigantic, yet it falls over when it's destroyed without making a sound except for a dull thud.
If there was more background noise like gunfire and bombs going off in the distance it'd at least explain how he can machine gun several guys in a room and the guys around the corner act like they don't hear anything.
I just hope the ironsights are not a requirement.
The guns and impact of them looks really satisfying, still can't believe the dog bot fell for that in the twitch stream.
This looks pretty corridor-y to me.

and a slow one at that in comparision to RTCW
shame as that would've helped this game to differntiate itself from the current shooter market

also the stabbing animation never gets old for me

Maybe they used actual dog brains in them or something.

I really thought it looked like rtcw at first but its nothing like it... new graphics new technologies but for what! they will never match the classics honestly. Thief has the same fate, the new one is awful.....
This looks pretty corridor-y to me.
To be fair, its the first level/tutorial.
I really thought it looked like rtcw at first but its nothing like it... new graphics new technologies but for what! they will never match the classics honestly. Thief has the same fate, the new one is awful.....
Really? You're comparing this to the Thief reboot because it's linear? RtCW is linear as well, and some later parts of the game were extraordinarily linear even. Just with lots of side nooks and crannies for more supplies, secret points (that meant nothing for getting back then, although the PS2 version tried to make an RPG-like stat system out of it), and wide open areas with the illusion of more freedom.
Listen, I get that people fear linear corridor shooters nowadays. As my posts above indicate, i'm not entirely sure about this game either. But shitting on a game just because it's not like its predecessors is a stupid move; if it was basically nothing like a Wolfenstein game, from a different genre to dumping Nazis for ALIENS and shit, then yeah, i'd give you that.
I'm not talking about the linear level design tons of old games were like that but the feeling of the game fades away. I mean look at games like HL1 you could bunny hop and when HL2 was released the graphics were upped the story was different a bit, but it still felt like hl1 and bunny hopping was still there. I'm mostly talking from gameplay/feel aspect.
Much like Thief 4 this game also tries to remake some things from the older game which also makes it unoriginal to say. Alright I'm bickering too much but I just hope this game makes me want to finish it because thief was so boring I just gave up completely half-way and that was because the whole game has that grim dark brown tone all day and having to run back and forth to kill every damn asshole in the level is tiring.
This is where I also like the AC games sure the gameplay might be repetitive (many similar missions and what not) but they always add new gimmicks each iteration to try out its kind of like expansion packs for AC1 in a way. And continuing the story from where the last game left off is always exiting.
Call of Duty is also a series which really disappointed me after playing 1 for a bit and then cod 2 (from start to finish and loved every second of it, talking about sp) and then playing cod 4 for the first time I really disliked it because it felt way too different from the second one the introduction of that scoping (which is now a "meme" for shooters nowadays) and the fact that the whole game is even more talk and scripted scenes, events than before makes it worse. But the gameplay is still similar so it isn't that far apart but still.....
Supposedly there's a lot of variety so hopefully it'll keep things interesting
It's a small thing but I like how in the climbing section the player is the one moving and jumping over things
Everybody's too damn pessimistic these days, just have a little (tentative if you must) hope for the game, they haven't shown anything damning off or something

Pessimism is the first step to never having fun with games.

Still, when it comes to preorders Publishers bless the mind too small for doubt. If its good I'll pick it up sure, but I will be cautious until then
What? :v:
(I'm a 40k nerd, I can't help it with these quotes. Still makes sense though)

Not to those who've never played 40k at all :v:
But yeah if I could afford to upgrade my computer, I'd tottaly pre order this bad boy right now.
Ah well, Tropico 5 will be fine instead.

It still makes sense. Publishers like to prey on those who do not do research about the game. This is why most AAA put out so many hype pieces.
In this case aswell what do you get for preordering a game you probably haven't played yet? A hat for TF2 and possibly preload. Why would somebody give money upfront to a multimillionaire company that can easily survive a few months without it for an unrerealsed product when you can just wait untill review embargo is lifted? If it doesn't have embargo lift until launch day then thats a very bad sign.
So yes, I am very pessimistic when it comes to AAA due to their track record of dicking people over.

It seems to be a plague these days on this forum
Bioware could release the best game ever made and people would still hate it because of all the prejudgments they've made
People who fall for preordering bad games have nothing but them selves to blame. The only true game I've been duped into buying is X-rebirth but if I would of waited until the embargo lifted I would of saved $50

I'm starting to think maybe gaming might be overthinking the thought process behind Publishers and Devs.

Not even trying to act deep :v:
Just saying it like it is, if we get picky about what we exactly want from our games nowadays, then we won't be able to get excited or have fun when a game comes out.
Some real nice looking graphics, is this id tech 5?

Gonna be honest, quake 4 was exactly what I thought when I started watching it.
That weapon wheel is pretty small, I hope there's more than that. I want me some dual, double barrels.
cdkeys.com has this for like 38 USD
thinking of buying it
