I saw in some documentary some time ago (can't remenber the name), that there is a certain percentage per year of a nuclear war hapening. When that percentage is analysed over a long period, the percentage of a nuclear war hapening rises exponentially.
Like if there is a 1% chance of that hapening per year, in a period of 100 years that chance becomes 100%. So in a period of 100 years there will be at least one nuclear war.
I bellieve that this theory could be (and already has been aplied) to know periods of time where certain events will hapen. It's just a matter doing the math...

If we had a 1% chance of having a nuclear war each year, in 100 years the probability of at least one nuclear war would be 1 - (1 - 0.01)^100 = 63%
Then include the variable of how stupid we'd really have to be...
