Bending resistance is a new test for me so not sure how other phones do but I thought he needed to use a lot of force to bend it. Plus it wasn't that far and it seemed to still work. I hate iPhones but I feel other phones this thin would bend also.
again the issue is aluminum will hold that bend, plastic doesn't. if you did the same thing to a plastic phone, it'd either just snap, or spring back. aluminum is malleable though so if it gets bent it stays that way
I miss the days when you could drop a phone on the floor, asphalt or be droven over by a car and it wouldn't get destroyed and unusable. Todays phones are flimsy as shit.
The 6 actually did well in certain drop tests, actually still, the fact we NEED drop tests (and now bend tests?) is not a good sign at least nokia phones are still indestructible
I'll give them credit for having a screen that didn't crack under that bend, but holy shit what a design flaw.

Someone has dropped their lumia 920 near a pond in a park and found it after 6 months and it was still working, but thats Nokia quallity i guess.
my lumia 920 is still ahead. I've dropped this thing on the asphalt and all it has to show for it is a fucking dent in the plastic. also i kinda do like how even at the end of the video, the screen still worked on the phone.
Or be smart and bring it into an Apple Store considering the warranty is still good.
I'm sure most people won't have an Apple store anywhere near them. Sending it in by postage makes more sense. Bend it around your wrist and save bank by having a ghetto Apple watch. Unique feature, 10/10 A++ 5 stars innovation.
If I did that with my S4 it would be in two pieces.
in what common situation would your phone bend or someone would be bending it what gives
I'd like to see a similar test performed on a Galaxy S5 or any other leading smartphone model, just for comparison's sake. I'm really interested in how other phones hold up.
they're putting it in their pants wrong
why do they make the phones so thin it doesn't make any sense i thought my 4s was thin but jesus look at that
The thought of my phone bending that easily is truly terrifying. Also, Patton Oswald looks very different with a beard.
That's crazy. Wish manufacturers would stop making phones so goddamn thin, though. Take your 6mm shit, shove an extra 2mm in there for a larger battery already! Don't care if I can slice bread with my phone if the damn thing barely lasts a day.
The recently released Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has made some news with it's 10+ hour battery screen on time. Screen on time means how long the screen can stay on while you're doing stuff. According to Phone Arena, it does 10 hours and 2 minutes with their battery tests and has given the title of a device that can last for "two days". For reference, the S5 got 7 hours 38 minutes. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sony-Xperia-Z3-Compact-battery-life-test-results-the-new-champ-welcomes-us-to-the-era-of-two-day-battery-life_id60955 This is hilariously amazing, it will more or less actually last the whole day or even longer depending on your usage. Sony has actually listened on people wanting longer battery life and the recently released Z3 and Z3 Compact fits the bill.
I don't really care too much about these tests, as they're not really scientific in any meaning of the word (you could probably bend/break most phones with your bare hands anyway), but the fact that the phone was bent (if only slightly) just from him using it normally, is kinda worrying. Also, Gorilla glass and the like is pretty flexible.
I'm sure if you really wanted to you could break most phones with just your hands.
Yeah, kind of afraid to bend my Z2. I mean the back glass is already cracked so I may as well unseal it to make it not-waterproof.

He did a follow up video showing what happens when you try to bend the phone back and it just cracks and then tries to bend a note 3.
I give it a week before Samsung goes to town with this.
lol it only took them 4 days to make this and air it on TV:
this makes anyone who owned an iphoen ever stupid
lol it only took them 4 days to make this and air it on TV:
i like how they just clump every single person who wrote about it into one pile called "experts" and didn't actually check back with what the wall street journal had to say about the iphone 6, to which they pretty much said "yep, it's bigger, and it causes a bunch of drawbacks, but I can do more at once" which is strikingly similar to the note review. also, lest we not forget, there are different authors for different things, so different opinions are certain. basically, samsung is getting desperate to say anything negative about their competitors that they aren't saying anything positive about samsung. congrats, you're the lesser of two shits, now i'm gonna buy a nokia or some shit.
why do they make the phones so thin it doesn't make any sense i thought my 4s was thin but jesus look at that
Honest question, has anyone at any point held their smartphone and say to themselves "Man, this is so thick, it needs to be thinner" like not trying to be a smartass or anything, does anyone actually care about the thickness of their iphone or whatever?
That's crazy. Wish manufacturers would stop making phones so goddamn thin, though. Take your 6mm shit, shove an extra 2mm in there for a larger battery already! Don't care if I can slice bread with my phone if the damn thing barely lasts a day.
I have a Lumia 521. Great phone, but it being thin and curved it's like a bar of soap nearing the end of its use in the shower. You can't hold or grip that shit. It's cool that stuff is getting smaller and smaller but I keep saying the part of something that a human has to interact with, like something you hold, or a touch UI, can only be so small before it's worse for being that small. That's why I got Stormtrooper armor for my phone Add some god damn girth to it. In either case, your smartphone shouldn't be without a case of some sort. Having the screen marginally recessed in one will save you one hell of a headache at least once
Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer my electronics to be more bulky if it meant that they were more durable. I'd consider durability to be progress, not smaller, more delicate devices. Not to mention if they were bulkier they would be easier to use with my giant hands. I guess I'm just not their target audience or whatever.
Everyone ditch your shit phones and join the Lumia master race.
I miss the days when you could drop a phone on the floor, asphalt or be droven over by a car and it wouldn't get destroyed and unusable. Todays phones are flimsy as shit.
I know someone who would throw his phone into a park from his apartment up on the 12th floor for fun, and it never broke or anything. You can't drop most modern phones from your pocket without breaking something today.
