If I was the Commander at Arms or whatever for an honor guard I'd be a little shit and issue them 5.56 rifles and give them 7.62 ammunition. Than I'd tell them to ADAPT OR DIE

I just liked how Mongolia uses the SVD as their ceremonial rifle instead of an SKS or Mosin Nagant like most other Warsaw Pact countries.
