i don't really like CAS-Vs and plus deathmog would murder me and bury me in his yard if I got one because he has one
Which JP kit you looking at? There's the original then there's the VTAC Battle Rail version of the Troy TRX rail that features similar cuts and rail mounting like the original JP. Personally I find the VTAC Battle Rail much easier to install than the older JP design, and it feels a little lighter.
The main issue I had with the JP Kit, at least for the long version, is the aluminum barrel they include with it. First of all it's built in 3 pieces. You have the main barrel under the handguard. Then you have the gas block that slides onto that barrel and attaches by a single pin that you punch in. Then you screw in the barrel extension onto the other end of the gas block. Between these 3 pieces, the barrels being made of aluminum, and the barrels being too thin, there is a lot of flex in the barrel. If you were to brace the barrel on a window frame you would see it bending upwards. Honestly it's a horrible barrel for a DMR setup. I'd suggesting buying a 1 piece outer barrel from another company.
Does the VTAC have a more solid construction? Or would I be better off just buying the JP with a different outer barrel
Both have a pretty sturdy built to them. The JP does use 7 tiny screws that hold the hand guard to the barrel nut, and over time if you keep taking it off and on like I did you can strip the screws. The VTAC uses just 2 larger screws to squeeze the rail onto the barrel nut. It's much easier to install and you get perfect alignment everytime. You simply slide the rail onto the barrel nut, rotate until the tab on the back of the rail butts up against the upper receiver then screw it down.
Ah. But would I be better off buying a non-madbull outer barrel to go with it?
I actually use a 16" Madbull outer barrel with my JP kit right now, seems to work fine. It's just the barrel that's included with the JP kit sucks.
Don't G&P receivers not work with madbull barrels?
Not sure about that, but if you want to play it safe then go for another brand.

Current AK configuration. Would have Aimpoint Comp M2 but optic rail is being a pain. It either goes on tight but slides right off, goes on loose and comes right off, or doesn't go on at all.

Also, still need to paint lower handguard black. Unless you guys think it looks cool, then I'll keep it. I'm still on the fence.

G&P receivers don't work with Madbull rails afaik, its the threading on the receiver that needs to be rethreaded
so buy one of those fancy madbull rethreading devices?
It's a thread cutting dye. My guess is the threads are a bit oversized on the G&P or Madbull's are undersized. Madbull rails have worked on every AR I've tried them on, CA, G&G, KWA, and WE.

Yeah, you can always take a dremel to it I've heard but you have to be really careful not to cut to much.
I wouldn't dare try with a dremel. Too easy to screw up.
I believe Madbull or G&P make a rethreading tool but I wouldn't dare rethread the threads on my MUR Upper and never be able to use any rail other than Madbull.

its because G&P uses real steel delta ring threads(Or some shit like that.) like KWA, basically, you'll be able to use other rails then Madbull same w/ d-rings and shit yo.

and yeah, I did.
Now add two MOE rails to the front, a flashlight to the left and a PEQ box to the right for MAXIMUM STANDARD ISSUE
When I get spare cash I'm going to get an AimPoint with a straight mount for it to replace my ACOG.

Let me know when you do; I already have an M2 with a straight mount. We can evolve our Type 89s together.
Take a picture when you get a chance so I'll know what it will look like.

it's a l96 trigger box made out of sheets of aluminium duck tape and glue.
It's a shitty webcam pic but you can see there's a pen spring pushing the trigger forward and everything is being held against the cylinder and cylinder block by some wire.
The thing is; it actually works!
