At the last game I really wished I had a grenade, but my only replica is made of solid wood. Not good for throwing at someone...
These are made with a PVC core and pipe insulation, cut to shape and painted. I'm not happy with how the handles came out, but these will do for prototypes and/or flinging at people.

Protip, if you spray painted the pipe insulation on the handle, it tends to honeycomb like that (Same thing with styrofoam)
Try hand brushing

I painted it. The numbers are stencil'd on via those plastic stencils you get at the arts&crafts store.
The secret to cool paintjobs is flat paints and light coats and dusting.

The whole thing is spray painted after being coated in plastidip. It's all styrofoam. The reason it honeycombed it because I shaved it down to size with a razor for lack of a better method of shaping the handle. I'm still trying to find a better way of replicating the taper and curve of the handles.
You could wrap the handles in tape or something to cover the honeycombing effect, then paint over that, perhaps? Might not look brilliant, but it'd maybe improve it.
