CYMA has it listed as an AK-101, but I don't see any of the distinguishing external features (they're minor) that differentiate the 101 from the 74, so I'm calling it a 74, and it has the skeletal stock so it's an AKS. Very pleased with this purchase- the metal body feels exactly like how I remember the real steel 74. The P90 on the other hand is alright, it wasn't very expensive so I wasn't expecting much, but the rate of fire is much lower than the real thing so I'll need to get a significantly stronger battery, and the magazines are kind of funky.

What mags do you use? I can't seem to find any that fit that gun.

The second from the right (the shiny one) is the hicap that came with the gun, the others are cheap CYMA 150-round midcaps which I purchased [url=http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/3x_CYMA_AK47_AKM_AK74_150rd_Mid_Cap_Mag_p/acc-custom-68.htm]here[/url]. They're almost identical to the hicap, the only differences are the lack of a winding wheel and loading port.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong.[/QUOTE] The handguards are the exact same, and the AKS-74 comes in polymer. The AK-101 is 5.56 NATO, and has a full folding stock, making this not an AK-101.

I have no idea why it was mislabeled as a 101, or if that was CYMA's or AirsoftGI's fault, but it's just wrong.

All airsoft AKs should just be called an "AKM" and be done with all this retarded labeling.

But AKMs use 7.62 magazines, which are different from 5.45 magazines :v:

I was fed up with speedball everywhere and orange jerseys instead of camo, but more importantly just the competitive nature of paintball. You play paintball, it's always function over form- if it doesn't help you in a match, you leave it at home. Airsoft, on the other hand, has this whole milsim fashion show thing that's just nonexistent in paintball, and I like it.

Well i'd put an original handguard on it, but those cost more round here than MOE and my gun was a casv
