lol, I bought it all for $141, sling, oil container (silver, not pictured), toolkit, 40 rounds, bayonet, and stripper clip pouches.
The rifle is from 1943, and is practically brand new. Everything matches.
is the oil cosmoline lol
[QUOTE=xXEnder007Xx;32675850]My M1014 setup for an upcoming zombie OP next weekend. New field, getting to shoot cosplaying zombies who have no guns, sounds like it's gonna be a good day.
Just need some extra industrial velcro to attach the pressure switch to the pump.[/QUOTE]
Is the event you're going to called Hazardous Containment 3? What you describe sounds a lot like the event Timebomb and I are going to, which is this coming Saturday.

Word of advise, clean the fuck out of it to try to get all the cosmoline off. If you keep shooting it while there's still cosmoline in the action, it heats up and bakes itself into the metal and then you get super-sticky-bolt syndrome

When I fired it, it was sticky as hell, we thoroughly cleaned EVERYTHING out on it, all of the cosmoline is gone.
The oil thing was empty, but everything was p. much coated in cosmoline, cleaned it all off. The silver oil thing has two nozzles or something.

The original seller just painted the Upper and buffer tube/stock for some reason (I added the snake skin). My plan is to replace the buffer tube with a new one so it looks as if the butt stock and upper were pulled off an old rifle and put on a new lower.

How'd you get the cosmoline off? I want to be prepared for when I get my Nugget.
My friend had some rem oil, and some Winchester oil shit (the oil that you have to neutralize with the other oil I presume comes with it). Can't remember the exact name of it, but it worked great.
I know this sounds a bit dumb, but when I got my Mosin I dissembled the bolt and boiled all the parts. The Cosmo boiled off, but I had to watch the parts the entire time.
You boiled your gun?!?!
Just the parts of the bolt with cosmoline built up on them.
Checked my barrel markings, and apparently it was manufactured by Izhevsk.
Also, these are one of the 40 rounds I got for ten bucks:

It has a silver tip if you can't see it.
Is there any way to tell what company made it or anything?
It only has numbers on the rim.
[editline]10th October 2011[/editline]
It was funny because one of the rounds we tried to fire two days ago had no primer in it.
They're just old surplus rounds. They were manufactured p. cheaply (Explaining why one of the rounds was missing a primer)
The numbers are a simple code that tell the date of manufacture and the manufacturer code. But I don't know how to read them. Maybe someone else can help you there.
The little silver tip means it's a soft-point not an FMJ, so don't shoot steel with them.
Also, fun fact: The 7.62x54r is one of the only rounds made with a steel casing instead of brass

Perhaps Mason can explain what the numbers mean.
Is there a reason alot of the time i see Russian rounds they have like a green casing? Like this:

I believe it is because the casing is Lacquer coated steel instead of brass.

wut?
[editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
Oh wait, is this a CoD joke?
Yes
Just a different way of doing things.
Steel casings came about in the late 1880s in an attempt to improve on brass cartridges. However, the steel cased rounds have been found to be a much dirtier round than brass. AFAIK the Russians are the only ones who really took a liking to steel casings
The steel casings are also cheaper to produce. They cause problems with cartridges with narrowly tapering walls like 5.56mm and do not expand the same as brass causing the casing to occasionally get stuck in the chamber. On rounds like 7.62mmx39 or other eastern bloc ammunition with steep tapering walls this problem does not exist.
