that was actually how they had the m203 on the m4 before RIS / and keeping the hand guard itself on
USAF security forces had it at a booth at the last airshow i went to, with an aimpoint on it
i wanted to make an airsoft one
Just reattached the lower RIS to my M249 after learning how to quickly removed and reinstall the outer and inner barrel. Now I have easy access to the bottom of the hand guard to store a battery in there. Turns out my 9.6v nunchuck batteries will fit down there even with the RIS on. My 11.1v lipo may fit in there too, but it may be too thick, still need to test it.
Here it is with the full length barrel.

I also have some spare inner barrels laying around, so I tossed a shorter one in there and removed the barrel extension. Makes for a much smaller gun, but I'm worried about the range. Vityaz your SOPMOD mk18 mod1 is invalid, AFG is not part of the Sopmod block 2 kit. You need a foregrip of some sort that isnt verticle or folding.

Got my AK back together. Everything works except the safety but I don't really care right now.

At the fields I play at, you already have to remove mags and battery and put on barrel condom between games, so I don't see why it would matter if safety doesn't work.
At my field it's just mags out safety on. No rental kiddie listens the amount of times I've hear people shooting in the safety zone it scares me. I never remove my eyepro now.

I've found out the size of the lower rail is way out of spec. That rail riser wobbles all over the place on there.
