[QUOTE=truffaut;17436762]but he's not encouraging warez, i'm sure he didn't deliberately post that picture of his desktop to promote that fact
if he was saying "look at that keygen on my desktop, download it here" then to me that's understandable, otherwise it's just not a plausible ban really[/QUOTE]
It doesn't matter. If it's got anything to do with warez just be safe and refrain from posting it.
[QUOTE=mm3guy;17436508]He's STGN, the guy who leaked the ratings system exploit[/QUOTE]
OMG Sending basic POST data? What an exploit.
[QUOTE=verynicelady;17436936]I'm sure this comment has nothing to do with the fact that he banned your main account.[/QUOTE]
I've never been banned by compwhiizizizi and I agree with truffaut.
I think the problem with moderators is that they haven't teamed up to ban all the forums forever.
[QUOTE=SteveUK;17436972]OMG Sending basic POST data? What an exploit.[/QUOTE]
An exploit is an exploit, no matter how simple it is.
[QUOTE=dcalde78;17436996]An exploit is an exploit, no matter how simple it is.[/QUOTE]
Sending the post ID + a rating ID is not an exploit

No... Garry forgot to make it accept only POST data, it also accepted GET content, so you could but the rating URL within image tags to force people to rate a post without their knowing, using this you could rate a post with ridiculous amount of ratings.
Pull that stick out of your ass.
[QUOTE=SteveUK;17437023]Sending the post ID + a rating ID is not an exploit[/QUOTE]
What is it then?
Boys settle down

got ~owned~ by Gmod.com Admin MM3Guy. That's not what he did at all, he was parsing the ticker (which the data for was all nicely placed in a JSON string, and sending requests to the script which deals ratings. Really simple.
That just shows lazy design in the ratings system since it didn't have hashes and I doubt it has limits on ratings you can make per day.
My only complaints are about VNL and ventilated, which both are fairly dickish and ban for the slightest error. Also, is there any chance of them banning an user for complaining about them?

As I said, even though it's simple, it is still exploiting the rating system. Pull your head out of your ass.

VNL is one of the most lenient mods here, if you get banned by her you must really be terrible at posting and no doubt deserve your ban three times over.
I have one problem with one mod, that is the one the moderates GD, ventalited.
I think he overbans for small things, but everyone else, I'm fine with, (including m33guy even though he was the first mod to ban me.)

But you can get out of it just as easily in RC, you guys don't realize that, if you fucked up, apologize, Mikfoz did it.

VNL is really lenient a lot of the time, it's only when you do something really stupid that the longer bans are used.

Maybe you're right, but ventilated overbans, for sure.
This thread looks like it's going to end up a troll fest against the mods like that terrible comic thread.
[QUOTE=Dronaroid;17437196]Maybe you're right, but ventilated overbans, for sure.[/QUOTE]
Mmmm, sometimes, but not often. He's strict with the rules, and that's a blessing and a curse on his part.
[QUOTE=Roll_Program;17437208]This thread looks like it's going to end up a troll fest against the mods like that terrible comic thread.[/QUOTE]
Except this thread has run longer and isn't filled with, you know, TERRIBLE COMICS.
[QUOTE=dcalde78;17437228]Mmmm, sometimes, but not often. He's strict with the rules, and that's a blessing and a curse on his part.[/QUOTE]
Coincidentally I regard ventilated as one of the better mods.

But it ended up affecting the servers and was obviously being done to make trouble
[QUOTE=Dragon;17436792]People are bitching because they are not doing their job[/QUOTE]
That's for the users to decide, that's hezzys job.
Mods shouldn't have to explain themselves.
Else you get huge whiney threads full of posts where users are complaining about their mains being banned.

[QUOTE=mm3guy;17437291]then who was the guy posting a billion threads all over facepunch telling people about the flawed ratings system, right at the same time stgn rolled out his ticker rating script?[/QUOTE]

You were taking advantage of a flaw in the ratings system to use it in a way it was not intended to be used for
[QUOTE=Dragon;17437254]But it ended up affecting the servers and was obviously being done to make trouble[/QUOTE]
it didn't affect the servers at all, stop eating the words garry feeds you.
[QUOTE=mm3guy;17437350]You were taking advantage of a flaw in the ratings system to use it in a way it was not intended to be used for[/QUOTE]
EXACTLY
Why can't you two guys understand this?

I didn't really believe that, or even mention that... I do not really understand how little requests like that would lag the server any. However, most people who set up one bot tend to set up more than one bot, and that's where you would probably start to make an impact on the performance of the server
There is a small flaw present that allows you to get the key to a post easily, garry should fix that little error :downs:
