Yeah I remember (was it during the Heroic Age event?) but the whole darker, Kevlar armoured look just reminds me of Bale's Batsuit. I think he looked just fine in the Avengers.

Yeah, it sort of looks like a continuation of the issues that were brought to light in the Avengers. Namely, SHIELD building WMDs and becoming heavily militarized.
Captain America looks far better than I expected it to be, since the first one is just average.

According to Joss Whedon, [sp]yes, because he filmed a reunion for The Avengers, but cut it because they wanted to use it for Winter Soldier[/sp]. If I remember the commentary correctly.

The second season was hit and miss and they made it overly convoluted but season 3's shaping up to be a return to form.
