How can I tell when I'm dreaming and when I'm awake - General

I keep having dreams about my fathers funeral even tough it havent happened yet. And when I wake up im crying :frown:

Fuck you guys, one wall of my room is a mirror and everytime I'll fall asleep I'll fear to have a dream about being in my room now! :saddowns: I once "woke up" in a dream and shit was scary. I turned my head to the left only to see some kind of chopped off hand crawling into my bed and jumping into my face to choke me or something. Then I "woke up" again and had another weird dream I can't remember before I finally really woke up.

Reading at my old posts in this thread, I used to post like such a retard.

Am I the only one who fucking [i]hates[/i] creepy faces? Seriously. I'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight because of that pic earlier in the thread. That whole mirrors thing is guaranteed to fuck with me, too. I just know I'm gonna fall asleep and the first thing I'll see is something that will scare the piss out of me, in a mirror of course. I actually had a dream once where I was lying in my bed with my laptop. I stumbled upon a site that I thought was a shock site. For whatever reason, I felt such a deep sensation of dread. I realized it was a dream, but I was paralyzed when I actually woke up... I kept falling back into the dream. Apparently shock sites fucked with my head quite a bit when I was younger. I need to stop being such a pussy :(

I looked into a mirror whilst lucid and I saw my golden retriever.

When I have horror dreams, and I found out that I AM dreaming. I always say, "C'mon, let's rock!" I then break into a Doom style shooter, well with any weapon I have.

well my friend I know how you feel, many years of playing dead space and penumbra, silent hill, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. have permanently fucked up my sub-conscious just like now im typing and I see a figure in the corner of my eyes. so some times ill open a door and i think a deformed flesh zombie demon will be standing their also im sooo fucked up I dount even dream any more I DOUNT FUCKING DREAM ANY MORE hope you find a way to solve your nightmares but for me, ill always be living in one.

I've only had a lucid dream once, and it lasted about 3 seconds. I was in some field, I looked at my hand and my index finger was a yellow block, then I woke up. I didn't even get to do anything :smith:

As others have said, have a reality check. The problem with this is it's usually a better idea to have one when you're already absolutely sure you're awake, otherwise you're making a reality check when you could be dreaming... mind blown. If you're still unsure whether you're in reality right now, do something you KNOW is only possible in reality and can't be recreated exactly in a dream world. Personally, I have a scar on one of my fingers that doesn't show up in dreams.

You can tell this is old because people didn't immediately mention Inception

Every time I look in the mirror in a dream I see a beautiful girl and I fall in love with her. After I wake up I can't forget about her for months. I think it really means something subliminally, once I figure it out you guys will be the first to know.

I never ever remember any of my dreams. Ive never had a lucid dream or anything. It kinda sucks
