Oh and
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the British Army's Officer Training Academy (NOT equivalent to Westpoint which is a 4 year university course with officership thrown in, above and beyond OCS, a couple of weeks officer training on top of basic - it's a one year officership and military skills course.) has a "Sleep Deprivation Week" where you are kept awake by force while doing such things as digging World War I trenches, 1.5 mile runs before and after etc etc ad nauseam. And in case you didn't have enough fun already, you then go on a two day field excercise. I know of one guy who started hallucinating and seeing fine china teasets everywhere, and another who opened fire into a forest with a Minimi (That's an M249 SAW if you're American) because he thought that elephants were attacking. And that's just one week.
Someguy: So how did your son die? ParentsofOP: Sleep deprivation Someguy: Dumbass..
Going without sleep for that long can have some serious affects on your health. Without sleep your body can't repair itself and long term you could develop brain damage. Also the current world record holder probably had some form of training to ready his body for the worst, if your going to do it at least make sure that you can handle it. If 5 days had you almost hospitalised then you sure as hell aren't gonna be coping well by day 11.
Have fun dying, you stupid cunt.
*my body is ready*
Good show man! I didn't notice that when I wrote it :v:
Oh and
Holy fuck, I'm fixing to go to Sandhurst in the future :ohdear:
Sorry @ Skellyhell and Bagminge, but thanks at the same time. :buddy:
Huh? i just came back from casual gifting, what did i do now?
A relative of mine killed himself after not being able to sleep for three days. Please don't go any further with this.
A relative of mine killed himself after not being able to sleep for three days. Please go further with this.
Fix'd
Post some pics in the OP.
Fix'd
He's been quiet for a while... I think 2 days and lots of thread hate got the better of him.
Quick facts: I doubt they will accept this. And If you go 2 weeks without sleep You will die.
Oh and
That's a terrible fucking idea What if one of them cracks and opens fire on the rest of their squad You simply don't mess with the mental stability of people after giving them a loaded automatic weapon
That's a terrible fucking idea What if one of them cracks and opens fire on the rest of their squad You simply don't mess with the mental stability of people after giving them a loaded automatic weapon
Give them styrofoam swords and make them build fortresses. [editline]1st January 2011[/editline] Holy fuck you god your old account back.
I was kinda hoping for the OP to kill himself
I was kinda hoping for the OP to kill himself
Theres still time! he is only on day 2 :(
Ahaha you're not even doing it now you stupid cunt. I bet you were planning to call it off all along.
even if you do it you still need to have an offical from guiness looking over or something for it to be recoreded.
even if you do it you still need to have an offical from guiness looking over or something for it to be recoreded.
But guiness no longer record this record because of the negative effects it has on peoples health.
That's a terrible fucking idea What if one of them cracks and opens fire on the rest of their squad You simply don't mess with the mental stability of people after giving them a loaded automatic weapon
Give em blanks :v: Plus you have to try and top battle stresses to prepare them for battle, and besides if they're at Sandhurst then it's officer training, they HAVE to be able to take anything thrown at them and keep their cool.
Give em blanks :v: Plus you have to try and top battle stresses to prepare them for battle, and besides if they're at Sandhurst then it's officer training, they HAVE to be able to take anything thrown at them and keep their cool.
Sounds more like torture, to be honest, and where are our awesome simulated warfare training programs and shit.
You're going to die.
You're going to die.
Twice
Before attempting to break a world record, you should always do a thorough research on what ever record you want to break. This is the result of not doing that.
Op is using uberman sleep technique, sleeping 30 minutes at a time. [editline]1st January 2011[/editline]
Before attempting to break a world record, you should always do a thorough research on what ever record you want to break.
Sounds more like torture, to be honest, and where are our awesome simulated warfare training programs and shit.
Simulation is useless when you're trying to drum it into some guys head that every single decision he makes will greatly effect the possibility of his friends living or dying, you don't get that sort of pressure when it's an LCD screen and lines of code at your disposal. And yeah it IS torture, they're going to war, you can't wrap em in cotton wool and not show them what a real battle scenario is gonna be like for you, at the end of the day, it's so they can guarantee that the soldiers under your command can be effectively lead in battle to get their job done and that they can all come home alive.
A Facepunch user is going to die :woop:

Hello, you wouldn't have beaten this guy:
Thai Ngoc is a man that medical modern science says should have died in 1976 when he was robbed of the ability to sleep. The Vietnamese man, born in 1942 in a small village called Trung Ha in the Quang Nam Province said one of his greatest aspirations in life was to one day have a dream. And yet dreams have never come. The man was the subject of two separate investigations looking into his strange condition. Some would say the potential for productivity one man can have utilizing all 24 hours in the day without sleep would be an immense boon while others say it is a cruel curse placed on him by nature. The investigations operating out of the United Kingdom and Thailand both independently concluded that Thai Ngoc was the genuine article as they followed him for several days independently with cameras around the clock. As the sun set, Ngoc continued to work tirelessly, tending to the small farm he lived on. Investigators even took the study a step further, hiding nine objects of Ngoc's around the house and asking the elderly man to describe them and indicate which objects were missing. He did so without missing a beat, demonstrating an incredible amount of alertness. The brain needs what is known as "REM sleep" also known as "dream sleep." REM sleep is said to be one of the most powerful changes the human mind will undertake throughout a natural lifetime. And it is supposed to happen once every REM cycle in a 24 hour day. Without REM sleep subjects in sleep studies show a decreased level of performance in both cognitive functioning and verbal aptitude. And with time, a lack of REM sleep is often forcibly fought by the body with increased lethargy ultimately leading to a deep sleep lasting several hours. Studies where REM sleep was prevented often resulted in symptoms reminiscent of sufferers of schizophrenia. And yet Ngoc, while observed, seemed perfectly reasonable and lucid. He would work around the clock with no ill effects. Since he never slept, he had no bed in his house. Visitors had to sleep on mats which Ngoc poured boiling water around in order to fight off the constant tide of ants in the area. Though his lack of sleep was widely documented by news crews, he declined an invitation to travel abroad for 18 months in order to be studied, saying he was afraid of tests and had not left his home town for over 60 years. In addition, he says that no doctor has been able to help him thus far. Medicines intended to allow him to sleep have no effect on him. He has had several jobs playing drums at night in order to remind the other villagers that someone is still out there watching over the village in the dead of night. And yet no one is able to explain how Ngoc is alive or how he can sustain such long hours without sleep. He has been keeping his pace for a long time and wishes for nothing more than a half hour nap.
Yet another superhuman.
Your body will collapse after 72 hours, and since you're 16, you won't last long at all
